Eggs. Scrambled with a bit of salt and pepper. Sooo good.

While real mail is pretty much the Best Thing Ever (and I do have a package to pick up tomorrow on the way to work), I definitely love email correspondence, too. I got a nice, long email from one old friend and have another I need to reply to. :)

I also love that my rebate I sent off for a few weeks ago already came in/came in at all.

I got a rebate check the other day for $3 and I felt silly cashing it at the bank. But it's still money. :)

Paychecks!

I got my first paycheck this week! For a month of work. Yay money!

(Though, boo taxes! The government definitely doesn't do 30% of my wages worth of stuff for me!)

The carpet! And my husband! Wheee!

We took advantage of the major fringe benefit of his job today! Our carpet - covered with huge stains made by cats, plus years of dirt was cleaned for FREE, and deodorized at cost. It'll maybe come to ten bucks. Donny did it himself, and, I swear, I am finding him sooo sexy right now!

I did not want friends or relatives in our place at all before and hated imagining Atty crawling. This is SO awesome!

You know, I probably should take our friend up on the offer for borrowing their carpet cleaner. At first I was just considering it as vengeance for late, loud, drunken nights, but it'd be a good thing regardless.

It really brightens things up!

I called and profusely, enthusiastically thanked his boss. He's giving us the deodorizer free and threw in a free bottle of professional spot remover!

I have no idea how I originally discovered this combination but I LOVE cut up nectarine with cookies and cream ice cream. Wow, so good.

Our rasberry patch is just coming on! I forget how good they taste for breakfast right off the bush. Just got back from Alaska, it's amazing how fast the seasons change there.

Ugh...don't remind me. I'm going to go back to full-on fall. Mind, I don't think they actually had much of a summer so far anyway.

Double post.

I am sitting in Barnes and Noble, waiting out a thunderstorm, and contemplating buying a third copy of EG. I love my life right now.

My mom is here! And an aunt and uncle! And there are other dear people coming I will see tomorrow!

Atticus knew his grandma right away, I swear. I don't know if it's a residual memory from his birth or if he knew her voice from the phone or what, but he's NEVER been that delighted and friendly with someone else right away before. It was beautiful to behold.

I also love that everyone is gone to their hotels. Donny is driving mom. Atty is asleep in his crib. (!) And I have a very rare, precious bit of time alone, in the quiet. Being alone in quiet is weirdly like talking to an old, dear friend I haven't spent time with in way too long.

I swear babies know their grandmas. Each of my babies seemed to recognize the 2 grandmas that live 2 hours away upon very first meeting. (My mom lives closer and sees us way more, so I don't count her in this.) It's really cool and really special. Yay for grandmas!

Did Atty sleep that long, or did your guests snuggle him for you?

He actually slept that long!

Sadly, we were both way restless last night. Oh well.

I love today! I love our church! The baptism was lovely, just so beautiful. I love that our church invites all the children up to the font to watch. Atty actually smiled when Debra (godmother) held him over the font. He looked startled when the water came, but no crying. It felt very good to bring him to be baptized, and to make promises about raising him.

Today was the best! Sarah (daughter#3 20 Yrs old) had a barn party last night, which went off quite well and without incident. Needless to say we slept in a bit and Julie had a nice breakfast together and since the other girls spent the night with other friends, we had some time to ourselves. I somehow got to the topic that we should check out the huckleberry crop and to get the most out of our half day left we should take my friends cessna 195 ( since it's re-furb it's been sitting way too much) and since it is pretty de-lux and quiet inside she went for it! needless to say we had a ball ( God knows I did! I love big round engines) we used the loaner pickup at the little airstrip and was happy to find enough ripe berrys to almost fill Julie's gallon bucket. We got home in time to go buy some Raineer cherries and deliver them to all the grandkids. Of course I got a box in the fridge too , I just love those sweet yellow and red cherries! I really hope ya all had a great sunday too!

I love re-reading a book and realizing I had forgotten how awesome it is. I think it may be more exciting than the first time around.

Tomorrow morning, I will have 18 framed pictures to hang up on my walls, making them a little less depressed/depressing. 9 of those images are EG related and all of them are from Darian, with one being a little altered from his original (in a good way, I think).

(Linked only because it would cause scrolling issues and Photobucket is doing maintenance, so I can't thumbnail from there)

Darian's original was a tiny little black and white, so I Warhol-ed it. :)

Open air theatre! I love being able to go see a show as a family, all three of us, and not worry about how Nom will be. She can crawl or be walked or moved away from the audience (but we can still see and hear the show). It's just a wonderful experience.

(Sincere, sincere apologies for being that obnoxious person who mentions their SO in every sentence that leaves their mouth but I genuinely have no other friends to do things with and thus mention in stories of things I do outside of work)

I made friends with a 4 year old at an eye office yesterday. I was waiting for zero to be finished with his eye exam and was reading a book of my own when a very polite young girl kept walking in front of me to get to the different children's books they had laying around and then back to her seat- she said "excuse me" each and every time.

After a little bit, she pulls out her mom's phone from her mom's purse and brings up a picture of Kristen Stewart and asks if I know who she is. I do and tell her as much, asking if she was allowed to watch the Twilight movies and if so, had she seen them all? (She has, but mom made her cover her eyes during the baby scene)

That made her little brother trust me as well, so he brought a series of books to me to read to him. Their mom felt pretty bad but I told her no worries, I didn't mind making new friends, and the little girl said "I want to be friends with her because she's so pretty."

!

Sweetest thing ever said to me by a child. I try to forget she was in there to get her eyes examined.

One of the books that was brought to me was Green Eggs and Ham, which they had read before. So I read to them, asking them to help me tell the story, which they did.

It was a fun time. Making friends with/as little people is so easy. I love it.

Lilbee(forgive me, I'm completely blanking on your real name), I hear you. I'm SO bad at keeping spaces clean, but I get really overwhelmed when they are messy.

Alea: :D Perceptive little kiddo!

Today I love the feeling of having gotten some cleaning done, enough that I don't feel drowned in it. And the laundry is on the line, I have an amazing-sounding coffee cake fresh-baked and waiting for my guests, and I even spent some time with my plants!

I love my little indoor herb garden, too: mint, thyme, rosemary, basil, and hopefully the chives will take, too!

I love that I have a tomato! On my plant! That I grew all by myself! If it survives to ripen!

O my goodness, Alea! I made friends with a 5-year old at the baseball game I went to on Friday. I definitely agree that they are much easier to make friends with than grown-ups. He didn't say I was pretty though, so you got me beat there.

Other things I love, as noted today:

The little girl I saw engrossed in her comic book waiting at the bus stop with her mom.

Old people on bikes.

Picnics in the park.
