The fact that the current intern here is in awe of my knowledge about assessment. And, as of today, so is my former supervisor.

Sweet.

I like knowing things. And impressing people. And I haven't felt a lot like I've been doing either, lately.

The red holiday Starbucks cups.

This is doubly odd, as I actually really don't like Starbucks all that much. But I miss seeing those cheery red cups everywhere. Oh, civilization. How I miss thee.

The updates I made to my MP3 player, including a lot of new exercise music (thanks, Pweb!) and a very long playlist of office music that does not include all the music I tend to hit "skip" when I hear. Listening to my music this morning while working has been a very pleasant experience. I may eventually just drop the other stuff to create more room, but this is working for now.

Another thing I love is this pen. I love it so much. I cannot sing its praises highly enough. If you like thick pens with squishy grips, this is the one.

I randomly get grateful for my writing implements. Can't help it. It's my island of sanity. It's my favorite little luxury. It's the reason I no longer lose pens.

Oh good God, you stole my pen! I had that pen and I loved it and kept it close to my heart at all times. It was the only pen that I ever wanted to keep in my pocket.

And then I lost it.

I started thinking this from the very first mention of pens. "squishy grips" indeed.

There are some acquaintances of mine, all in their 50s (I guess I don't get along with people my age but that's always been the case), who make me feel like an adult in a non-threatening way. They're funny, smart, and I genuinely enjoy the time I spend with them or hearing from them.

One, currently in OH but whom I met here in Suck, AZ years ago, went to Germany recently and sent me some pictures and sent me a follow up when I replied. Both totally made my day.

They make me so happy
Though their lyrics are sad
I got to get something signed my Kaoru and he smiled in my direction.

Things I love...

The Packers stomping a mudhole in the Cowboys. Since I both love the Packers and hate the self-righteous, ungodly-rich privileged Cowboys and their demonic owner and their gaudy stadium and their whole evil empire and all their bandwagon, Romo-loving/hating fans, this was sweet beyond belief.

I saw 7 hawks on my drive today! I thought that I had to wait until February but I guess they are around all winter long. Yay! Plus, I saw one unknown raptor (not a red-tail) right by my house. I tried to get a picture but it alluded me.

Speaking of Gaiman, I recently learned that he approves of the sentiment that Jason Webley is the best busker this side of the Mississippi, and that's why you all need to listen to him.

Here is a picture of them with Neil's dog:

OS 9.2.2 it's almost 8 years old and it's the system I use at work everyday (I run 14 of these networked to a pair of fairly brand new unity servers). for a while I cursed OS 9, then I went and worked at a place running OS 10 (don't remember the version) and it was horrible. Took ten seconds to open even a bin that's only 20k in size, and a good minute plus to open a bin that's 20MB in size. I know it can actually run a lot faster, and that a big part of the performance lag was their (lack of) file management and excessive 'drives' from the unity server, but still, it was incredibly aggravating. Now I'm back in MY place with MY unity and it runs loverly, cause I'm the only one managing it. :-p

knock on wood.
