Since nobody will let me drive tractor and can't stant to look out the window I'm sittin in my pickup posting n crusing p-web till I can think of a flight plan to go file. It's so damn pretty and clear this morning and my bud has his twin beech C-45 a old warbird sitting here all freshly annualed up and begging to be flown so I'm going to go increase my carbon footprint, cuz I can. Ya all have a great day! Hope it's sunny where you are

Having food in the apartment again! I got a tax refund yesterday, so I actually had money to buy the stuff. I was pretty much down to oatmeal and ketchup.

I love that I woke up early, feeling refreshed and in a positive mood. Despite having to go get a cortisone shot and a repeat mammo today. Yay for random good moods!

I just came back from the Whitby Goth Fest and it was fantastic. I particularly liked how there were so many steampunk costumes which were amazing.

Added my TAing job to my profile on Facebook. Within less than 4 seconds of hitting save I had a Like on that activity from a former student.

12 hours from now, I will have no classes remaining between now and graduation. Couple of exams, and that's it.

My apologies in advance this is going to be a photo heavy post.... (I might break it into two posts)

Thing that I love PORTLAND! This is a combination of two only in Portland stories that I was a part of and witnessed this afternoon.

Fist story, Only in Portland would a HUGE crowd show up to make an 8 year olds wish come true. To quote his make a wish page:
Join Make-A-Wish Oregon in granting the wish of a local child. Cheer on 8-year-old wish kid Atticus as his soccer team, The Green Machine, takes on the Portland Timbers in the Friendly of the Year on Wednesday, May 1st at 11:30am at JELD-WEN Field! The first 100 people get a commemorative scarf & a slice of Papa Murphy's pizza and EVERYONE gets to be a part of a child’s wish-come-true.

Atticus found out he had cancer last fall when he started to feel pain while playing soccer. Because of his treatment, Atticus missed the last soccer game of his season. But through it all, his soccer buddies were there to support him. So when he was asked to choose a wish, Atticus decided to scrimmage with the Portland Timbers. Not only will this wish allow him to play soccer with his favorite players, it will also allow him to include his whole soccer team.
And come out we did with flags, horns, drums, banners and signs. It’s hard to see in this picture but every member of the crowd is on there feet and stayed on there feet the whole game singing and chanting and cheering for the Green Machine. I don’t know the final tally for those who showed up but it was well over a thousand fans Maybe even two thousand! They even had to open up more seating!

Image

I mean look at the lines an hour before they opened the gates! (thats me in the grey sweat shirt and blue back pack hiding from the sun)

Image

Here is Atticus going in to score the first goal of the game and celebrating with his team.

Image

Image

In true timbers fashion Timber Joey cut a wedge off the log for Atticus (note this is a photo from a different game but shows Timber Joey our mascot in his true glory)

Image

After the game he go to trade jerseys with his favorite player Will Johnson (look how hard that little Green Machine jersey is working :stoned: )

Image

Image

Here is a great group shot. You can see Atticus with his slice of log for his goal and the big crowed of supporters in the background

Image

It was magical being there with so many people cheering on this special little guy.

It was a great game, the timbers played well with well placed slide tackles and falls... one of the guys even got a red card. (they were all "playing nice" but really made it look like they were playing hard). The crowed exploded every time the green machine scored and sang and cheered then on. and boooed so hard when the Timbers scored. it was an amazing day.

EDIT: They even put up a highlight video!

Edit 2: Final total attendance more than 3,000!!! I love Portland so much!

ok Second only in portland story... I was sitting in Pioneer Courthouse Square enjoying my Cheese Steak for lunch and after the game and off in the distance I spot a group of belly dancers pushing a cart. and on the cart is a big Gold Bull with GIANT brass balls....

They Push the thing into the center of the crowd and start dancing to cakes "building a religion".... apparently protesting big business...

Image

the dancers getting shooed out of the square and across the street in front of the court house by a police officer....

Image

Close up of them dancing across the street

Image

Big gold bull from the front

Image

And back

Image

I mean just look at those BALLS!!!

Image

SO... I love Portland because it warms your heart when we show support for each other on such a grand scale... and I love Portland because it entertains the heck out of you while you eat lunch.

I love most of the people I work with. I work at a car dealership and our service manager is honestly one of the nicest most caring men i've ever met. When he found out I was looking into getting a dent fixed on the door of my car he completely took over and called the body shop we work with to start working out a deal. My insurance has already given me a check to cover the estimated damage (minus my deductible). My service manager says i'll probably be able to pocket a couple of hundred after everything is done. I'll be excited if the discount he gets me just covers my deductible.

I love people that will go out of their way to help you out.

1) Sitting on the bank of the river, completely covered in fog, with no one else around for miles after waking up in your tent to the sound of distant geese
2) Waking up to the cold wet nose of a dog pressed up into your face with that look that says "Oh hey, didn't even see you there, but since you're awake, I love you! Let's play!"
3) Winding roads through the country on a motorcycle
4) Getting an entire day to do nothing but get cozy on the couch, drink coffee, and read.
5) Reading calvin and hobbes by a fire in the fireplace on a cold winter day
6)Being 1 of 3 white people at a Bone Thugz N' Harmony show, and having Flesh-N-Bone come up to you after the show...(Just me? ...Well I thought it was pretty awesome.)
7) Space
9) Driving down GW Parkway at 1 in the morning in the middle of summer blasting Sigur Ros
10) Those random times where you and a best friend end up sitting somewhere random (middle of a feild, hood of your cars, roof of a building, etc...) after a long day hanging out and talk til the sun comes up about life and all the deep, meaningful stuff that usually get's pushed aside by everyone.
11) Getting to surprise someone you love when they come home by doing the little things you know stress her out/she hates doeing (cleaning the kitchen, folding the laundry, fixing that wobbly table, etc...) and having a night in to just relax and watch a movie.
12) Puppy breath (Is that wierd? It probably is...hmm..maybe disregard that one but know that I secretly still love it)
13) When you take a chance in the middle of playing the song for an actual performance and try a new run and nail it
14) Rolling over in the morning and seeing the one you love still sleeping quietly, and seeing that still asleep contented slightest smile when you kiss their forehead before getting up.
15) Sitting in a little coffee shop on the west coast of Ireland early in the morning looking out over Dingle Bay, sipping coffee, eating a freshly made mixed berry muffin with homemade butter, and writing-For real, does it get much better?

Julie n I went out to breakfast and on to pick huckleberrys this morning. Always nice to be in the woods but the picking is a bit slim in our favorite haunts this year. We came across a big bull moose with a broken front leg, shure makes me sad my first instinct is to finish him off and end the suffering but our state will damn near hang you for doing the "right thing" nowadays and as others have seen him I spose I would have got fingered then busted for it . What a world!

That "things I love" turned sad at the end! I would feel the same way about the moose and I don't even own a gun.

The gun is a tool just like a fire shovel or fire bucket, and it is so sad to kill an animal out of season and not to eat but it's way more sad to see an animal suffer a slow agonizing death.

In case I wasn't clear, I meant that I agreed with you about the moose. I would also want to put it out of it's misery.

Nothing like a good swimmin hole when it's hot! Last niight I took a bunch of grandkids to the creek to teach them the fine art of "Farmer cooling" while demonstrating the proper form of lying on a partially submerged sandbar I caught a little crawdad and set it by my little katiebug and got the little gal all wound up. I just got my 3d nasty text from her. Papa Buck is a bad man! Don't forget to all go have some fun, harvest is almost here so summer is giong fast!
