This is my parents library. Not pictured is the comfy couch, the Monet, and the antique table with a gorgeous chess set ready to play at any time.

Christmas morning in there was the BEST ever when we stayed there 2 years ago. And I really want to have a weekend murder mystery party in there.

Steph, that is the most perfect library I have ever seen. Like, I may end up copying your parents for my dream home.

I can't get over it. Beautiful.

Thank you! I love it so much. I'm proud of my dad's work. He built all the shelves, ladders, everything. Can you see the rolling ladder in the first picture? It kind of blends in, but it's to the left of the fireplace.

Yes--I love it! The rolling ladder has been a requirement for my dream library since Beauty and the Beast (i.e. practically my entire life).

Having had the honor of seeing it in person, I can vouch for Steph (as if I needed to anyway) on it being even more gorgeous and awesome in person.

I would like to work in that library, in fact. Let's make it happen!

Living in a place where my kids and I can see a bald eagle soaring and then landing on a pole not 20 ft from us as we're driving to school.

We see bald eagles here too! Not all the time but it's not super rare. They are so awesome!

My brain's free-association ability. Reading an article on Cracked.com about lies you learned in history. Article mentioned nothing rhymes with dentist. Me: "Dentist, dentist, pen rest, Pinterest!" Then off to Pinterest, which I'm sure will eventually lead me to google the mating habits of orangutans or something.

The library is quiet. I am shelving, I have finished my book order and it was easy and fun thanks to the new YS manager being on her game (unlike the old YS manager).

I have two days off, one day on, then my regular weekend. I need the break.

I found a smutty looking book that seems like a bunch of fun.

I love making my way through the older pages of Pweb. I go back a few pages, note which page I'm on, come forward for a bit, then back to the last page and keep moving back.

I love to talk to then-Alea and then-Pweb in general. I love that Pweb and all that it was so very damn much.

Leaving the dentist hearing, "Everything looks great, see you in six months!" Healthy mouths are happy mouths and happy mouths are happy bank accounts.

Separately, I still love that my dental people are so damn personable. They just talk and talk but not annoyingly so and since they don't expect me to do any talking back, it works out for all parties.

I really love reading to my niece. She will be 9 next month and we are in the middle of the first Little House book. It's great teaching her new words and seeing her get into the story.

Listening to Betty White talk about her love of zoo animals on The Daily Show. I feel a kinship with her dorky and obvious love of interacting with the animals there :stoned:

Living in DC! It's fun to be so nonchalant about living here that "I got stuck behind a motorcade" is a legit excuse for being late to work.

The fact that Pweb is still going strong after all these years.

Frank's Red Hot. I love Frank's Red Hot so much.

Bourbon. I have a massive chest cold at the moment and went out last night anyway. I think the bourbon cured me.

I need some bourbon, asap.
you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

I love getting a visit from the dogs down the street. Their owner is a drunk and they always get loose. The first thing they do is head down the street to our house and bark at the door until someone lets them in. They have to run though every room in the house, saying hi to everyone before I give them each a treat and then they hang out for about half an hour. Their owner usually shows up (always drunk) and always had to introduce herself to us (yes, we've met before, many many times. Yes, I know the dog's names and their back stories!).

I love the dogs, but not the owner.
