Prom?
Girls: What's a good way to ask you to Prom?
Guys: What have you tried, what has worked, what hasn't?

Maybe I'm just odd but, er, just ask. The sooner the better. *nod* You don't need to make a huge deal of it, just be sincere and ask when there's still plenty of time. Randomly asking or calling and asking is cute, as is asking while you're hanging out or on a date. Just grab whatever opportunity seems like a good time, y'know?

what does it hurt to ask now? just do it. ask. don't worry about it, or over think it, or try to be kool about it. just a simple question. personally i didn't go to prom. didn't want to, and don't regret not going. i have asked girls on dates in the past... and look at me now. i'm married, must have done something right. if she says no. ask someone else. there really isn't a way to fail. think of it this way. try to get in one girls pants and you probably won't get lucky. try to get in 100 girls pants. surely one of them will be a slut. you'll get lucky. same rule applies to asking girls out. the worst that will happen is you'll feel like a fool. but that passes.
nope, it does no good to try to make things perfect or plan too much. it's just a seven word question. i tend to think too many people put too much emphasis on how things are asked when all that's important is that you ask. too elaborate and you're bound to flub it. the simpler it is, the easier it is. the more likely it is to work.

Eh. Just ask.
Of course, my prom was... a very small deal, and I had a boyfriend at the time. It's just a party - I've never seen why people get so worked up about it.

It's not going to hurt to ask around now, and it's way better then waiting until it's almost prom time to ask.
Eh, I went to mine and had fun. Some people make a way bigger deal over prom then they should though.

as far as i understand "eh" is a non-commital noise, similiar to the act of shrugging.
you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

I think Fetus is reading too much into a shrug.
As far as the question goes--I might hold off for the moment, but think about it. When it starts to hit mid-late April, start asking around.
The other thing is, if there's a specific girl you really want to go with you, you might put some extra effort into it. A flower, or something.

Well, it seems like there's something more that he isn't saying, which is behind the "eh."
I read it just as a pre-emptive response to the accusation that he should have done something more elaborate. That's just me, though.
All of the above. Feh.I think Fetus is reading too much into a shrug.

I don't think I could help much. I'm still stuck on what to wear! Not full-length skirts are okay right?

I was at a (male) friend's house once, and his younger sister had just bought her prom dress. It was "cheap" - only $300!
Man... my mother put a limit of $150 on me, and even that took begging for the specific dress that I was in love with. My formal dress for grad was even less, and the only reason I got one at all was because of a last-minute wardrobe emergency (planned dress didn't fit anymore). My bridesmaid dress for my sister's wedding was also around $100. Her wedding dress was $350, before alterations. I almost had a heart attack when my roommate's choice of bridesmaid dresses ran "as cheap as" $250. Most expensive garment I've ever owned (thank god it's re-wearable).
I think resentment over expensive dresses runs in my family.

I spent maybe $250 on prom all together.
Although, $25 of that was on a ticket I didn't need. My prom date was on prom court and he didn't tell me I got in free until we actually showed up and he had to give them our names.
It was kinda cool though, he ended up winning prom king.

(jessica mclintock...work the money). and i wore ballet slippers. cause...well... if i wore heels i would've been taller than my date. but again--SUPER comfy.

Eh, we had a prom. It was student-organised and unofficial. Lotta people were drunk or high. The grad formal dinner-dance, which was supervised, was a lot more fun, and had better food, too.

Some people in the group I went with did this. I would also recommend it; they looked awesome, and it sometimes made conversation less dull, too.I say make your own dress. I know its been done, and if you're any good at it, you turn out with a better dress anyways.

We just had three.
Homecoming
Tolo (girls choice)
Prom
Prom is open to all grades, they just start ticket sales for seniors and juniors about two weeks before the lower class men. So basically if there are still tickets left, you can go.
