I went to work yesterday.

(Also, I try to use this thread only for triumphs I have cause to believe will not be understood, not properly or fully, even though everybody has days where getting to work is a triumph.)

I paid the bastards their damn money.

And I'm getting my loans consolidated instead of ignoring them.

And I finished that stupid, stupid, stupid report that's been giving me panic attacks on my drive to work lately.

And I think I have a reasonable plan for tomorrow.

ETA. And I just got my free annual credit report. And, as of yesterday, actually, I've done everything I can to deal with the "adverse" stuff. Now it's just a matter of outliving it, and maybe bolstering it if possible.

I took the second-most-important exam of my life this morning. Really, bar examiners, you know you want to admit me, so please don't let this one little exam get in the way. Okay?

Was the first-most the graham crackers back in kindergarten? You've really got to let that go.

Belated good luck and best wishes, mister.

I finished lower norfair suitless. Savestateless. f*** yes.

This is a ridiculously unnecessary amount of detail considering the amount of people that care, but I must share my struggle:

A few weeks ago I started playing Super Metroid on and off (on the wii virtual console thing or whatever it's called; but with a real snes controller!). I haven't really played it since I was a kid, but for some reason partway through I got the idea to do... well, not quite a "suitless" run (where you don't collect the varia nor gravity suit), but kind of a semi-suitless run. Basically, I don't get the varia, and I don't use the gravity or the space-jump outside of maridia. I would have done suitless, but I find maridia tedious enough as it is...

Anyway, when I woke up today, I was stuck in the last challenging part of lower norfair: Ridley. The same section I had been stuck on for a few days, despite reading some strategies and such (even though I ended up not really using any of the Ridley strategies I read). I spent... well, I'm not actually sure how long it was, but I certainly spent at least several hours and in general half of my Saturday trying to clear that section. Ever tried defeating Ridley (and the entire section leading to him) without any suits? It's... well, it's difficult. The immediately preceding section isn't a walk in the park, either... I almost posting something here just when I finished that.

And I had to defeat him thrice! The first time I died right after he did (due to losing energy since I had no varia...), and the second time I f****** up on the way out and had too little energy by the time I got to a cool room.

But that third time.... finally. I am rather tired by now, but I am glad I did that; I was really wondering for a while whether or not this was actually possible for me. I'm not sure what my limit for platforming is, but I'm fairly sure this is close. This is definitely the most difficult gaming... thing, I've ever done. More difficult than completing IWBTG.

And I finished the rest of the game after that tonight, too, but that's less interesting :) (completion rate was 81%... I'm going to go back tomorrow and collect stuff with the varia and gravity suit and such, which will probably make that my highest % super metroid run ever. hooray!)

Oh, and this is kind of why the lower norfair music was in my head so much, for the 0 people that were wondering. :D

This is an epic story, zero. It is a triumph I understand. People always question my self-imposed challenges with games, both video and tabletop.

The other day I found out every insecurity (And I mean EVERY insecurity) I had in my last relationship was absolute justified and accurate.

I am both extremely proud of myself for being able to understand exactly what was happening at various stages of our relationship. And also kinda depressed...Nothing quite like being told youre right about everything, including your worst fears.

Anyways. This is my re entrance post into the forums. Hello again everyone. :) Though I doubt anyone here remembers me.

Dexter made a turd!!

My puppy, Dexter, had loose stool Thursday, gas and loose stool Friday, diarrhea Saturday (while being dogsat by my parents) and dark tarry stool followed by bloody diarrhea Sunday (also while under my parents' care.) We didn't feed him all day Sunday and I took him with me to the vet this morning. We ran IV fluids all day and put him on a couple IV drugs.

And after 2 meals today... He made a turd!!! Yay!!!!

Isn't pet ownership glamourous?

I finally put more air in my tires. For some reason, I was nervous to do it but I did it.

Holy Kelly Kapowski, did that ever make a huge difference. I cut off around 5 minutes on my commute, I think, and my legs didn't feel nearly as sore as they previously had been from just the ride up.

I suggest replaying on Very Hard (if you weren't playing on it already) at least sometime. It becomes much easier after you've played through it once, and it almost feels like a normal fun game on subsequent playthroughs.

Seeing it in vids... i really don't wanna be the guy.

First time I tried it (about a month ago), I tried it on hard... and was stuck. So the next time, I tried it on Medium, and with more determination. Much, much more determination (and the plethora of save points, compared to Hard mode, was sure helpful).

So there's no way I'm doing it on Very Hard. There's a certain limit to how masochistic I can become, in order to prove myself I can accomplish something; that limit was reached when I finished the game on Medium (Wuss).

I have just about finished magnetizing one of my newest 40k models and have started painting others. Kind of a premature accomplishment, but I will be quite proud of myself once I complete them. Something not too many other people will care about as much as I. I love this thread as I resonate with it deeply almost all the time. I do something that I am very proud of but no one cares that I did it, just because it doesn't involve them or seems pointless to them.

Oh did get 15 head shots on Monday Night Combat this morning. That's a menial accomplishment, but one that shows how well I have gotten at this little xbox live game.

I even said so in this very thread. Holy hell, it's been almost two years. Ah, good memories, though, good times. It really did take a long time to get out of the labyrinth, oh man (I'm glad that section has fantastic music).
I tried it on Medium
WUSS! I'm going to imagine that you always wear a bow in your hair from now on. (but really! you have proven you can do each obstacle; doing them on Hard would just take longer. But since you already know how to do them, it shouldn't take too long)

Survived the first few days of college.
:D

ETA:
Through sheer coincidence, at lunch I sat down next to this boy I'd talked to on Facebook before I got here, without even recognizing him, and we hit it off from there.

Congratulations! I definitely understand how that's a triumph, as my first week was pretty tragic. I like to tell people it'd be easier to list which buildings on campus I didn't vomit in that week.

I don't know if it's quite right to call this a triumph as it's totally genetics and luck plus maybe a little bit of weight loss due to medication, but:

The alterations lady has strictly forbidden me from losing any weight between now in the wedding. In fact, I think she would appreciate it if I gained a couple of pounds. Currently, without alterations, the dress fits almost perfectly. Seriously, when I put my shoes on, it turns out it doesn't even need hemming. Just a couple of darts at the bust and a bustle for the train, and the jacket needs to have the shoulder seams moved up. It fits ridiculously well.

In particular, I am not allowed to lose any weight in my hips (the area that most frequently deals blows to my self-esteem), because the corset laces pull completely together there and so it won't go any tighter.

I cannot tell you how happy this makes me. Holy crap, it's not like I was really worried about losing weight, but it's nice for once in my life to be told without reservation that I actually should not lose any weight.

I mean, granted, part of me wishes I fit perfectly into a dress a couple of sizes smaller, but I am NOT complaining. A couple of years ago, it would've had to be a size larger. So it's all good.

Stopped by a local fast food place and had french fries for the first time in months to celebrate. Which was a mistake, as the reason I don't eat french fries is not my weight but because it makes me feel bloated and gives me headaches. All the same. That's not the point.

So you can't use the word romantic to describe it. :o

Gravity Defier- Is it college or graduate school you're going to now? And, why were you vomitting so much?

I'm currently a student at The Real World; admissions is fairly lenient with who can attend and just like most schools, it's highly overpriced.

As to the latter question, it's a long, boring story but other than having the misfortune of doing it the first few days I was there, it wasn't actually related to school or nerves at all. Still, it may have colored my view on college and may be one of the reasons I'm kind of "meh, whatever" about the whole experience.

You seem to be having a good time; I hope that continues throughout your stay. :)

(Actually both were just beside the dumpster, so no actual diving)

I had to do my workout in the evening the other day. Normally I get up about 5am, workout between 6 and 8:30. Unfortunately I had to work early that day so I hit the gym afterwords. There's a guy there in the evening, I haven't seen him since I started going in early. Like 6'3"-6'4" and really built. Looked to him for advice when I first started. Anyways, like I said I haven't seen him in a few months, when he saw me he was like, "wow, you've put on some good size since I last saw you. Good job." That made my day.

I qualified for a car loan, waited in lines for hours to get registration and to sign for said loan, and made plans to get a relatively affordable radio installed in the car without passing out from the fact that I'm spending this money, depsite the fact that I'm on a major money-saving kick right now, supposedly.

The other triumph being that I took care of all necessary paperwork TODAY to make myself a legal driver, registered, insured, responsible citizen, yessirree.
