Hmm. I'm not sure everyone is accurate. Looking at that, a woman could not survive on breast milk alone for very long. Anyone have anything to correct that, or any idea how to calculate the starvation point?
From your numbers, self consumption of breast milk has a roughly neutral energy balance. Losses will come during the digestion process, so taking the whole thing, will be a net loss (as expected, in any case).
Digestion accounts for between 5 and 15% of the daily energetic consumption, depending on the diet. So, by not eating at all, the woman could shave her expenditure 1600 daily calories to roughly 1500. This will give her more time before the complete consumption of the sugar and fat reservoirs, after which the body begins to digest the muscle proteins (which end up producing organ failures which lead to death).

I have a question: can women stop cold turkey giving milk without experiencing health issues?

I butchered a chicken. With only phone instructions.

It sucked.

But I made chicken and dumplings!

Belated congrats, Jayelle :D

And starlooker, butchering a chicken is a messy business x_x... but there's something even messier, slaughtering it X_X ewwww I hated it when my parents asked me to help with that.

Eating chicken is a just reward!

After, well, pretty much a year, I finally got around to hanging up my mom's picture frames in the living room (in AZ) and if I may say so myself, once she goes through and levels them, it will look fantastic.

(I'm also a little amused that not all of them have pictures in them yet, so you see some of our family and some random stock family and/or stock scene.)

I had a boss that had frames up in his office with the stock family photos still in them. I worked there for 3 years and never saw him put a real picture in them.

I just sent out an email to 15 people asking for the help that I need.

I'm pretty much hyperventilating with tears because it was so hard and I'm kind of embarrassed and wish I could take the email back. But I'm really wanting the help, really needing the help. So I had to.

Dearest, you deserve help, I can say that with one hundred percent certainty without even knowing what you asked for. It doesn't mean you're weak or anything like that. At all. I know it's hard to ask, I'm so glad you did, and I hope and pray you get the response you need.

Good for you. It is so very hard to ask for help when you need it. It does not make you a bad person to need help. I hope I can learn from your example.

I am getting significantly better at weeding and ordering books for work. I've always been decent at ordering but terrible at weeding and have made a real effort to improve in both areas. I think the effort is starting to show and it feels really nice.

I'm working on my beading project that I started 3 years ago and have put down for long lengths of time not because it is difficult but because it is tedious. The fact that I haven't just given up in a triumph.

That IS a triumph! I want pics, too!

My triumph is that I've picked a lullaby for this baby. I still need to rework some of it, and I can't finalize it until we finalize her name, but it's picked! I'm going with John Denver's My Sweet Lady.

(All of my kids have their own unique lullaby that I have reworked for each to mention their name, as well as some other reworking.)

I'll post a progress shot before the end of the night. :)

Are these lullabies personal/not shared? If not, I'd love to see a snippet of one for the kiddos who are currently here.

I don't mind sharing!

Tyler's is from Goodnight, My Someone (Music Man)

Goodnight, my Tyler, goodnight, my son
Sleep tight, my Tyler, sleep tight, my son
Our star is shining it's brightest light
So goodnight, my Tyler, goodnight

Sweet Dreams be yours, dear, if dreams there be
Sweet dreams to carry you pajamas to me (Tyler changed that lyric when he was about 2. He couldn't understand why I would say "clothes" when he was clearly wear pajamas)
I wish I may and I wish I might
So goodnight, my Tyler, goodnight

Brayden's is from Mary's Lullaby (a song in our church's children's song book)

Lullaby, lullaby my little one
Lullaby my Brayden dear
Your precious life has just begun
And Momma holds you near

I'll be here with you through the night
Our star will shine it's brightest light
Lullaby, lullaby my little one
Lullaby my Brayden dear

Kinley's is from Night Time, Sleep Time (Hi 5) (one of our favorite kid shows!)

Night time, sleep time, say goodnight time
Goodnight stars, shimmering bright
Goodnight moon, silver and light
Cuddle up with my Kinley
Cuddle up really tight
Close your eyes and dream
Dream til the morning light

Sleep now, dream now, you'll be safe now
I love you, your daddy does too
We love you, your brothers do too
Cuddle up with my Kinley
Cuddle up really tight
Close your eyes and dream
Dream til the morning light

Aww! That's lovely. Atty and I have lullabies we sing each night, but nothing personalized. Well, except for the version of You Are My Sunshine I do when he's up in the middle of the night and I'm exhausted and he's not sleeping:

You are my Atty,
I love you madly.
You drive me batty, sometimes, too.
Please go to sleep now,
Oh, yes, you know how.
My Atticus, I sure do love you.

Steph, I love that you have an individual lullaby for each kid! It's something I decided I'd do myself, way back in highschool. My chorus teacher had two children during my four years there, and each time he taught the chorus a lullabye specific for each kid. We sang it for the babies when they came to visit.

I've got several contenders in mind already, but I'll wait to have kids before assigning them!

I am going to do that, too! Nom's ended up being a medieval song called The Falcon Carol, and it has a very sweet lullaby melody and lots of "lully-lullay"s. No idea what the others will get, but I've got loads of time!

Have productively sent out emails to contacts of mine to try to find an actual career-flavored job so that when we move North, we won't just be poor and colder.

Sigh.

This is f****** scary, ya'll.

My own (very minor) personal triumph is that I managed to finish my homework today, so I don't have to take time away from seeing zero this weekend to work on it.

Now, i have to congratulate Pweb itself in what many other kind of internet media would consider a triumph:

Yeah, that's right... for a couple of weeks i had been unable to connect from work, but i thought it was part of the very bad service China Unicom gives. But now i tried from home without my VPN... and realized the truth.

So, congratulations, Pweb, you are banned in China!
