Yeesh! Where are you travelling from that the trains will take you so long?

Good show, though! Which college are you applying for?
No Rei, they are keeping him for the duration!

Good luck! I met one of my closest friends at Cambridge interviews. Or well, the internet prior to them, though my parents don't know that!
So don't go worrying about me
It's not like I think about you constantly
So maybe I do, but that shouldn't affect
Your life anymore

It's England. That's at least a fairly common mode of transit over any distance.

Also, I'm not sure that it would take so long to drive anywhere in the UK.

I made it to my Thursday morning 7:00 meeting on time for the first time ever. We're talking over a year of trying. Good job me, I win! :)

I moved the dresser out of the blue room and into the green room. Without being asked.

All that means is, instead of having my things in three of the four bedrooms, I'm down to two, with the dresser being the largest item in the green room and it still being predominantly my mom's stuff in there.

Woohoo!!! What did you make with the pressure cooker?

Also my mom just bought a packet of dried chickpeas. I will see what she does and report back.

Rice. We just kinda winged it, though. The recipe booklet seemed to involve straining, and I'm just not cool with that. The whole point is to get rice out of it ready-to-serve. It also didn't whistle, the little cap spun around. So we have to do it again a few times to make sure we know what we're doing.

I loved our pressure cooker (sadly, we left it behind). It made cooking dried beans so much easier. You can cook them (dried to done) in about an hour instead of all day. It's fantastic. Saves tons of money too.

ETA: I just read over my post and realized I put "tons of money". Yes, my life is so poor that paying for CANNED beans is expensive. *sigh* But when you look at the cost per pound, it's a significant difference.

I'm with you, Jan. Dried beans DO save a ton of money. I'll cook a huge batch of black beans and then freeze them (since i'm lucky enough to have 2 upright freezers in my garage. THAT is a huge money saver!). Then I can pull out a bag and throw them in whatever I want.

I've never tried them in a pressure cooker. Do you have counter top models? Mine is a stove top one and I've never actually used it for anything. :?

When you eat as much beans/lentils/pulses as we do, canned vs. dried is a huge difference in price.

I have a question for you. What are "pulses"? I've heard people (usually canadians or europeans) use the term and it always makes me think of smoothies or something you would make in a blender but I'm pretty sure that's wrong.

Beans and lentils and legumes. It seems to be a european term.

I managed to go to bed before 12 last night!

For the record, I actually went to bed at 7 p.m. no joke. On the bad side, I only did so because I have a cold, and was mucho tired.

I've been opening envelopes related to money and vehicle violations. And it turned out that it was ridiculously easy to get a loan forbearance. The vehicle violations may not be so easy. I am grateful to be married to a man who will never in my lifetime, ever again allow me to have my vehicle registered late. They charge a freaking arm and a leg.

Sigh.

Stupid money. Worse when it's a preventable loss that is my fault. Stupid procrastination + avoidance of opening envelopes.

Last night, I made it to the bathroom and back without killing myself!

Seriously, I woke up, and it was like someone had painlessly lopped off 6 inches from my right leg. I kept falling to the right, into the bed, doors, shower, every. single. step!

After 4 years, 3 months, I finally sent a package I had been meaning to send off.

Every night this week, I have made myself pick at least 5 things to donate or toss. I have a trash bag full of clothes for the former, as well as a stack of books, and a trash bag with some clothes for the latter.

Finally, finally, FINALLY having a month over my expected billables. Yeehaw! Now I can slowly began to work myself out of my billable-debt, and maybe someday actually participate in the whole "extra work for extra pay" thing. That'd be nice.

So long as I walk my dogs tonight and if I can manage to hit 10,000 steps tomorrow, this will be the first week I've hit 10,000/day since I started tracking my steps. I'm so proud of myself, even if it's really not a lot of walking once you convert it to miles. :)

Oh, I understand that triumph, Fred. I keep wanting to rearrange my room but then I think of all the little things I'd have to take off my shelves and I am suddenly covered in a cold layer of fright induced sweat.

That was one of my biggest fears! I have a ton of little knick knack type things that i'm always afraid to move in case I break them or lose something. When I lived alone and it was just my stuff I use to rearrange my room at least once every couple of months, this is the first time we've moved anything since Will moved in over two years ago.
