That's like my breakfast every day.

This is why I like being an honorary girl. I get all the benefits of womanhood without losing a quart of blood every month. :stoned:

Actually, the average girl only loses around 4-6 tablespoons of blood each month.

perhaps it's that we lose a lot of liquid, but only some of it is actual blood.

Who knows.

From some medical site:

"Usually, there are only four to six tablespoonfuls of blood in the whole flow. This is a small amount. The rest is bits of the unused lining and other fluids. By the time your period ends, the flow will have amounted to between half a cup and a full cup of liquid."

Hope that helps. :)

So, ahem, "earning your red wings" isn't as messy as they make is sound then?

not really. the problem is that clothes shopping brings out my insecurities in droves.

the type of places in new york are generally the type where sales associates want to help you with everything and give you dirty looks if you're not already wearing something that costs over $500 per item. at least, in the types of places i'm going to have to go to find a dress.

plus, i hate trying on clothes because sizes depress me and things never fit right and it's all just emotional hell that makes me want to go eat 800,000 pounds of raw cookie dough and sulk forever.

*sigh*

here's hoping this time is different. but i doubt it.

Ah, I feel horrible for you.

I use to hate shopping. I've been working in a clothing store for the past six months and it got a little better, but I still hate shopping.

I had some friends back in high school who made up a list of euphimisms for the monthly, but I can only remember a few; "Aunt Flo's in town for her monthly visit", "Riding the red wave", "On the rag", and so on. My favorite was "I'm currently bleedeing from my uterus".

That last one's not a euphemism. That's like totally the opposite of a euphemism.
Isn't euphemism a way to say it more discreetly?

Oh. My. God. Next to, you know, crazy depression and anxiety, this is my least favorite part of PMS.

I always get them. Sometimes worse than others. Given the size of mine, they flippin HURT when they hurt. As in, movement of any kind exacerbates it. As in, I walk down a flight of stairs I am in pain. When no one is around, I have been known to descend stairs saying, "Ow. Ow. Ouch. Ow. Ow. Damnit. Ow." with an exclaimation for each step.

Sore boobs = pain = unfair.
There's another home somewhere,
There's another glimpse of sky...
There's another way to lean
into the wind, unafraid.
There's another life out there...

I get them every now and then, but gah, it's horrible.

Has anyone ever had their nails done? I am apparently going to do this tuesday (against my will) and i've never had it done.

Are they annoying?

Sore boobs is one of the side effects of different BCPs that made me eventually opt not to stay on them. I tried a total of 7-8 different types over 8 years (for help with endometriosis, not birth control) and they either made my symptoms worse or had side effects that I couldn't tolerate.

I've also gone through times where the only PMS symptom that I had (even off of the pill) was sore boobs. And it was exactly as Kirsten described above. I started wearing a sports bra to bed because when I rolled over the pain of them moving would wake me up. In the last year or more, since I have lost weight, I have gone from a 36c/d to a 34b so I don't have much boobs left to hurt. bonus!

I HATED having my nails done. It will be a sign of love to anyone in the future who requests I get them done. And only if, say, I'm in their wedding party. Ick.
