I am reading MWF seeking BFF because 1) it was on the new NF shelf at the Nazi library and I need to read their books to qualify for Summer Reading, 2) it is about a woman who moved to Chicago, and 3) I would really like a girl friend to talk to about all manners of things.

Like that I'm a little jealous of a friend's relationship with their SO because they are also a LDR but they see each other way more often and he has actually said he loved her and they've only known each other since January.

And that's really all I should say about that here.

Do you recommend the book? And I know I'm not the same as a meatspace friend but feel free to message me anytime about anything. I would message you more often but I can't see when/if you're online!

It's cute so far and I like the peppering in of little social psychology facts but I don't know if I'd consider it a must-read.

And yeah, that's a less common but once very common complaint. I always think I'm going to grow out of the invisible business and then I don't.

Argh, so sick of all the bleeding going on.

All related to BC, of course, but three times for no less than 5 days at a time in basically the last 5 weeks has sucked.

Alright, I'm a bit... concerned? I'm late with my period by a few days (five now). I've taken two tests, three days apart, both negative. I've had some slight cramping throughout the week with no payoff. And today I had a spot of pink on my paper, but no actual flow.

... WTF??

If it doesn't start soon, take another test. The earlier you take it, the more likely a false negative. That said, cycles sometimes go wonky for no obvious reason. I was 28 days like clockwork for over a decade, then suddenly had three months where I was only 21-23 days. No obvious reason, had my thyroid checked and everything. And then, for no apparent reason, went right back to normal.

I bet it starts in the next couple of days from the sound of it, though.

The false starts are stressing me out. It's unusual for me to be so late, but like you said, it's not unheard of. I'll give it more time and take another test if needed. Just frustrated. This isn't what I need right now.

I've always been jealous of women who's periods work like clockwork. Even with birth control, mine are never ever to same. : (

I'm not sure I actually know anyone besides myself who is predictably regular, come to think of it.

I'm curious what effect the Mirena will have. I've spotted some, but not had an actual period since all the post-partum and post-Mirena bleeding stopped. (Nine weeks of it. One for every period I missed while I was pregnant.)

I'm not on any hbc and mine is pretty regular at 25 days +/- one day. Maybe once a year it varies more than one day and I freak out. :)

Mine used to come on the 25th of each month (+/- a day). I have no idea when it changed, but now it's always at the very end of the month. I blame the leap year.

Mine doesn't follow a calendar; it's just every 27 or so days, so over the years it ends up at different times of the months but predictably so.

:)

In a world where we don't pretend there is no such thing as classes in the US, he's most definitely slumming. His parents' home, the one he lived in before he moved to IL, has an elevator in it and there's a national monument practically in their front yard; a prince of a Middle Eastern country and a professional hockey player did/do own homes on the same street. The restaurant where we went to celebrate his mother's upcoming birthday had an average $20 minimum plate and all the way up to $130 for a plate and looking at the people patronizing the place, I fit much more closely to the typical bus boy than paying customer, both in race and I'm assuming in pay.

I was also the least traveled, least educated (culturally and institutionally) person around this weekend.

Slumming!

Wait a second. zero is... is...

a rich kid?

Now I'm picturing Richie Rich, where we all go to his house and find out that it's super-awesome and there's a Mount Rushmore of his family on the mountain behind them and this is why he's always so secretive. Oh, I so want to ride on his personal water slide and use that slingshot thing to be catapulted into the pool.

I thought he was born in the network...

Though Richie Rich works too, come to think of it.

I'm pretty sure he considers himself to be an average middle class child. I think he's full of s*** or I was poorer than I thought.

But yeah, no fun stuff like that. I was simply afraid to touch things or move and seriously had a very hard time looking anyone, including him, in the eye that first day.

It did help to see pictures of him as a little person (though I had a hard time reconciling the fact that it was, supposedly, him).

My new OB/GYN decided my old pill was probably not the best because of how unsure the medical community was/is about it (Yasmin) so I am now on something different...or will be, as soon as I start my period.

This whole doctor's office location thing is obnoxious, since it's a few villages away, only reasonably accessible by train and a 1-1.5 mile walk each way (on top of the initial 1.5 mile walk to get to the train in the first place) but it won't cost me anything extra to get there since my work train pass covers it, whereas the bus to the other location would be out of pocket for me. If I can manage to not pass out walking in this heat, it will be okay. But yeah, I was gone from 12:20 to 5:07 or so because of train schedules, walking, and waiting on the doctor.

I didn't realize my periods had gotten so irregular until I looked at my spreadsheet just now.

I am either 6 days late, 4 days late, 1 day late, not late, have 3 days to go, 4 days to go or 11 days to go, comparing this month's to just this year's periods.

I feel like I'm cramping and bloated but I have for the past week. Bleed already, body, so I know I have nothing to worry about.

You should tell your ob/gyn about that next time you go. BCPs are supposed to make you more regular! Though you did recently switch types, right?

Well, that's extra weird then, that you have been so irregular. I mean, the irregularity makes sense when you have forgotten/missed doses but other than that, I would mention it to the doc. Tho, maybe you'll be more regular on the new one. :)

Is it bad that for at least a few days every month I want to call zero and yell at him, "You keep your penis away from me, it's trying to ruin my life!"?

Clearly my anxiety means I should never be allowed to have sex.

Usually my periods are relatively asymptomatic, but something about slight cramping plus pictures of prolapsed rectums in my Parasitology class made me feel quite nauseous. Maybe it was just the rectums, but two hours later and I'm still not recovered.

I feel like I should be writing this in personal letters or PMs or something to a few people I know care/are good enough friends to fake it so as not to be obnoxious to everyone else, especially given the way I told myself "When I'm in relationship, I won't be obnoxious about it." I think it's similar to that lie people tell themselves about how when they have kids, they'll be perfect, unlike other people's.

I've started gaining weight since I began taking this new kind of birth control and Bratnik has lost some weight since I first got here, so now we weigh more or less the exact same thing. He's a foot taller than me. :grumble:

While he was here this weekend, he did what I asked him to help me do and make sure I walk more and eat as well as possible. He even surprised me with a pedometer to help me make sure I'm meeting a minimum number of steps per day; I was touched by that, since he knows how (sadly) important this stuff is to me, though I feel guilty for getting a present out of it.

I really have been feeling gross and fat lately but he told me, when he first got here and over the time he was here, that he thinks I'm lovely just the way I am. That was nice to hear.

I got myself a good, supportive boy.
