Hee... I think I will always sort of want a bearded dragon. If only to say that I have a dragon and that it is very cute.

Adorable! I hope to have a kitty soon...it all depends on the results on my upcoming allergy test.

I got a new kitten on Saturday. It's my first non-reptile in 10 years. Her name is Monkey (because my husband has always wanted a monkey), she's 10 weeks old, came from a shelter, had her first vet visit today and is sleeping and purring on my lap right now!

That's a pretty cat, Nom. How fun! What made you decide on a new pet?

Oh, and how did I miss that staggeringly adorable puppy in the post before?? Holy crap.

Mark and I both grew up with cats so it feels right. Since we've been married we have lived places that didn't allow cats until now. Plus, I developed a cat allergy as a teenager but I got allergy shots for a few years and it has been reduced to a minimal amount now. Mark really, really wanted a cat. So, now I have my baby (Pheeny) and he has his (Monkey).

I'm not really sure what prompted this; because this isn't exactly a common position for her, but I found Chloe like this in the middle of our kitchen

Then, shortly after seeing me, she decided to stretch...

Haha, that's awesome.

It's common for us to walk into our kitchen and find up to three of our cats laying like that...

Hey, me too. You'd think that would give me some incentive to stop. (It's kinda scary to wake up and think you have no arms.)

Sorry to hog the thread but I love my critters!

Mark caught me my first toad (specifically, an American Toad) of the year and Monkey was VERY interested...

Newborn kittens! Awww, they look just like their mommy.

And Alea, don't be scared! He/she was so little...not scary. I let him go after a short picture taking session.

I had caught frogs (and maybe toads) when I was younger but the house we moved into last year is very close to a creek which must be the breeding ground for LOTS of American Toads. Last year my husband found tons of baby toads in our yard all summer long but only one big adult. The one above is the first one that he found this year.

I'm sure I found all kinds of critters when I was younger but it's only in the last couple of years that I have gotten really interested in nature and using the internet to identify the plants, animals, insects, etc. that I find outside!

in this area, toads and lightning bugs are what kids (and kids at heart) play with on summer evenings.

And HBC, it took me 30 years to find my kid at heart :)

Awww, Kimmie, new kitty is sweet. Looks kind of like my Tara in body size and stripiness, except the eyes are less sea-green than hers. Your cat's eyes are more an olive green. She's got some of that tangerine in her fur like Tara does, though, which is neat.

I LOVE tabbies.

What with the bare patch on the one leg? I didn't notice it at first, but now it's hard not to look at it.

Her name is Jazzy.

Kirsten, I love tabbies too! And I love the tangerine in her fur! It's really pretty! And I love her raccoon tail. :)

Josh-- the bare patch is an IV site from when she got spayed. She's also got a bare patch under her chin.
