I didn't really like The Village, myself.

As far as favorite movies go... March of the Penguins (!!! PENGUINS!!!) was wonderful, although I admit that my penguin bias may have something to do with that.

Pretty much anything with Johnny Depp. I really loved Sleepy Hollow, and I thought his portrayal of the crazy writer in the Secret Window was absolutely hilarious and, of course, rather creepy (as he is wont to be). From Hell was terrific, and offered a bizarre perspective to the Jack the Ripper stories as only Johnny Depp could. He was also amazing in Pirates, especially the first one (didn't like the second one so much). Finding Neverland was another good one, although it isn't the kind of movie I can watch again and again. Some just aren't, you know?

American History X was also gutwrenching and beautifully done.

I saw The Squid and the Whale the other day, and I really liked that as well.

That's what I can think of off the top of my head...

I just saw American Beauty for the first time the other day, and WOW, it was incredible. I'm a big Mendes fan (Road to Perdition and Jarhead) but I think this is probably my favorite film of his...

I'm seeing The Science of Sleep tomorrow and I'm EXCITED!!! I love Michel Gondry's work.

Off the top of my head...

Shawshank, of course.
Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuiokuhen
Reservoir Dogs
Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels
The Cook, the Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover.

It's hard to think of them, since I've seen so many good movies lately, since I came to college (I'm thinking about putting Pi up there).

mr_thebrain almost nailed it. I would've included Adaptation.

As another Johnny Depp fan, I can't mention his movies without being reminded of the craptacular Ninth Gate.
