Manga & Anime

I'm disappointed in myself for not starting this thread earlier.

So, what manga/anime do you read/watch?

I've just finished my collection of Ranma 1/2 after about 4 years. It makes me sad that I'll never get to read another one. But, hey, 36 volumes is pretty long, even for manga.

Monster is also very good, both anime and manga. They are also pretty close, as far as the story goes, which is rare, and that makes it easier when going between watching and reading.

Fullmetal Alchemist is one of those mangas that doesn't follow the same story lines as the anime, which can get confusing. Since I watched the anime first, it's weird when things happen differently than I remember.

Bleach just started on Adult Swim a few months ago. It's a good story. Since I have a subscription to Shonen Jump, I'm already somewhat familiar with it, as they often have articles on it.

Anyway, I could go on and on, but I want to know what everyone else reads/watches, or if you do at all ^_^

In terms of shows, I watch/have watched:
- Sailor Moon
- Cowboy Bebop
- Escaflowne
- Digimon (... just seasons 1 and 2)
- Inuyasha

I don't read much manga. The only manga I've read is:
- Sailor Moon
- Cowboy Bebop
- Ranma 1/2
- Escaflowne

Cowboy Bebop is probably the anime I'm most in love with, and my reasons are actually pretty silly.

... it has a corgi.

I owned corgis for the first 18 years of my life. I love corgis. They're the most adorable dogs.

And Bebop had one.

That was actually why I started watching it. My friend John had been bugging me about watching it for a long time, and I kept putting it off. So I was on the phone with him one night, and he's like, "it has a corgi!"

Then I was hooked, as he knew I would be.

I watch fansubs of Naruto and Bleach, and also read the mangas each week. Fullmetal Alchemist is perhaps my favourite series in the last few years, and I still read the manga as well. I enjoyed a series called Blood+ which ended a little back. It's somewhat based on the movie Blood: The Last Vampire (which I've never actually seen). I just recently finished watching InuYasha (dubbed). I'm currently watching Eureka 7 (dubbed). Lately, I've been re-watching Trigun. Neon Genesis: Evangelion is also one of my all time favourites. I've also watched a number of Gundam series. I've seen both original Ghost in the Shell movies, and both seasons of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex I look forward to seeing the new movie set in that world, GITS: SAC: Solid State Society. There was a series I liked from a couple of years back called Soukyuu no Fafner (Fafner in the Azure). I had some good laughs watching Azumanga Daioh in my anime club in school. Witch Hunter Robin was okay... Oh yeah, I just remembered Escaflowne because anonshadow mentioned it. That's going several years back for me though. And I can't forget to mention Dragon Ball Z, which got me started all those years ago. It was the gateway series for so many anime fans of my generation since it just became big in North America when I was around 13 or 14. It will always hold a special place in my heart.

That's all just stuff off the top of my head. I've seen a fair bit more. I don't read much manga though. Mostly just those that are the source material for anime that I've become interested in.

Apart from Dragon Ball Z, which I loved when I was younger and still like watching episodes occasionally, the only anime I've seen is Princess Monoke, which I enjoyed.

Hooray for Hayao Miyazaki!

Neo-Dragon, I've watched pretty much all of those anime, except Azumanga Daioh, and the GITS one. I didn't know there was a manga for Blood. I'll have to look into that.

Adult Swim has pretty much been my source for anime for a few years. It started with InuYasha (by the way, does anyone know if it ended or if Adult Swim is doing their rerun thing again until the next season?), then there was Cowboy BeBop (I have an Ein plushie :)), Fullmetal Alchemist, Evangelion, Samurai Champloo for a while, Trinity Blood (which I stopped watching because they changed the air times without warning so I missed a good chunk of episodes), Eureka Seven, Bleach, and... oh, I'm sure there's more.

When the Fullmetal Alchemist movie came out, I was soooooo excited! After the way the anime ended, I was hoping there'd be some sort of movie or (maybe) another season, and I was right!

Oh, and I had a question for everyone, also. I'm in need of a new manga series, since I just finished up with Ranma, so any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks!

-- Part of the first Robotech (or was it Macross? I'm not really sure)
-- Outlaw Star
-- Some of DragonBall Z when I was younger
-- A few episodes of the original DragonBall, which actually seems like a good show
-- Most of Read or Die (The TV)
-- a little of Vandread
-- .hack//SIGN
-- Hikaru no Go
-- Rurouni Kenshin (and all of the OVAs)
-- All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku (the first OVA... don't ask why)
-- Death Note (5 or so episodes)
-- A few episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist, Full Metal Panic!, Evangelion, and a few other random series I don't really remember that some of my friends tend to show me

-- Future Retro Hero Story (only a few chapters; all I could find)
-- Rurouni Kenshin
-- Death Note (first two chapters, I think)
-- Does Megatokyo count? Hehe

I've also been recommended Cowboy Bebop a few times, so I may watch/read that sometime. I've also been recommended Hunter x Hunter, but have yet to see any of it...

I tend not to read as much manga, because I find it really annoying to read on a computer screen, and getting physical copies would require me to actually get up and go to a bookstore/library. I really should, though, since I did really enjoy the Kenshin manga more than the anime, and supposedly mangas are way better than anime equivalents anyway.

Oh, and I had a question for everyone, also. I'm in need of a new manga series, since I just finished up with Ranma, so any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks!
Rurouni Kenshin would be my vote. 28 tankĊbon long.

I didn't know there was a manga for Blood. I'll have to look into that.
No, I said it's based on a movie. Loosely based, from what I understand. Aside from having some of the same characters, I don't think that the series and the movie are supposed to be connected.

That's what I meant, that there was a manga series based on Blood.

Oh, I see, you're right. In fact, according to wikipedia there are 3 different manga series based on Blood.

Blood: the Last Vampire was terrific. I loved it.

As far as Miyazaki movies go--I've seen almost all of them, and I think that they're brilliant.

(I forgot Outlaw Star. I used to watch that, too.)

I've also started watching Azumanga Daioh. It is quite possibly the greatest, most messed up thing I've ever seen, so far.

I'm a huge Miyazaki fan.
Other than that, I haven't seen or read much anime/manga in years, but I used to be rather fond of it.

I think Fullmetal Alchemist is probably my favorite anime of all time.

Close second is either Eureka 7 or Hellsing.

Saiyuki, The SoulTaker, Elfen Lied, Grave of the Fireflies, 3x3 Eyes, Yaroiden Samurai Troopers, Jin-Roh, Kenshin (and Samurai X), X the series and movie, A Wind Named Amnesia, Tokyo Babylon.. Of course I've seen/read the mainstream ones like DBZ, Bebop, Naruto, Inuyasha, FMA, Bleach, and the whole host of other pop imports, but I don't take a lot of time to watch.

Lol Saiyuki!
My ex and me went to an Anime-Con dressed up as Sanzo (her) and Nii (me). It was a blast! :D (sadly, Katrina cut the convention short for us )
Yes, i have pictures. No, i won't post them here.

I've always liked Cho Hakkai better, but my friend is a Sanzo and Nii fan lol.

Hakkai had the best story arc, for sure.

All I need to do is find 1,000 demons to kill.

I watched Bleach up til they got into the whole vampire thing. But I stopped about a year ago, I watched the japanese version.

I just ordered Arc The Lad the anime so I can't wait for that.

I watched some Fruits basket and Chobits with my ex girlfriend not long ago before she became an ex aha.

I don't read manga much.

My anime list:

I haven't updated it in about 8 months though unfortunately. Currently, I'm watching about 10 shows:

Soukyuu no Strain
Asatte no Houkou
Pumpkin Scissors
Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru
Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge
Code Gaess

Legend of the Galactic Heroes

Not much of a manga reader though, I've only read a few.

I wonder how long a list I would make if I tried to list all the anime and manga I've ever watched/read? I'm afraid to find out!

Oh, and my boyfriend got the Star Trek Animated Series for Christmas. It's sooooo corny!

DBZ (in all its cartoon network forms)
Ruroni Kenshin Oh, yeah.
A lot of what cartoon network puts on, except bo-bo-bo or whatever. that one creeped us out.
We really haven't gotten into the manga stuff yet.
I did like Cowboy Bebop.
Oh, and mainly just the stuff on Saturday nights. Being in Mountain time, Cartoon Network's schedule is really messed up for us. Naruto comes on at 9:30 and 10:00.

I recently started watching "Fate: Stay Night".

Also, since there are so many FMA fans here I thought you all might enjoy this video: It's simply beautiful!

And here are some good ones for Naruto fans. The first is action-packed, the second is more emotional.

None of the videos contain significant spoilers.
