Possibly the most simple complex game

Postby DamienVryce » Sun Dec 10, 2006 3:17 pm

Alright so this is the game that my life centers around now. I picked this game up after watching Pi the movie, excellent might I add, and haven't put it down since. I is very simple, much like a possesed checkers, but the game can last for hours. If at all possible I urge all of you to play this game at least once.

You mean Go? Yeah, it's a Japanese strategy game. There's a manga in Shonen Jump called Hikaru no Go. I've been reading it for a few years.

I'm aware of that Jebus, but in his post he wrote:

so I was a little confused. Thanks so much for pointing that out.

If it's anything like the anime, not exactly my highest recommendation.

Anyway, I'd also like to point out that Go strategy is generally accepted as much more complex than that of chess, even though the rules are much simpler. It's said that if you're good enough, playing a game against another player of comparable strength gives you a deeper understanding of each other which is impossible to communicate by other means.

Go also has yet to have a computer AI which is any kind of match against top players, which I find interesting.

Yeah, it can be kinda boring at times, but I like it, so I keep reading it, even when it's going in circles.

**bump**

I made a Go board out of Corian. On the other side is a chess/checkers board. I love Go. It's a classic.
...but paranoia is all I have!!
