Getting to know you
Getting to know you
I'm relatively new to PWEB, joining maybe not quite a month ago. I've voiced my opinions on quite a few things and have enjoyed talking to most of you. Yet I still don't know much about many of you. So heres a getting to know you thread. It'd behelpful for me and others who have recently joined, even if you have been with PWEB for years now and know some of the older members.
I'm Jamie Alexander Sykes

I work at Spherix, a corporation which covers retirement funds and health benefits for federal employees or retirees

I am Ali (some call me Linus).
I am Canadian.
I don't live in an igloo. I don't drive a dogsleed. I believe that the beaver is a truly noble animal, and that it's pronounced "zed," not... Wait, wrong schtick.
I am Ali.
I am Canadian.
I am 23, and a Master's student in Medieval Studies. I read better Latin than French. Heck, I read better Old English than French. I can read some French, it's just a laborious process.
I like to cook and bake, especially with someone.
I work at a home for adults with severe mental disabilities. This does not make me a saint, so please don't think I am.
I really should be doing my homework.

My name is Jan. It's short for Janice. My first two initials are JL, hence Jayelle.
I live in Winnipeg. It is cold here.
I'm married to Caspian (who has Hobbes for an avatar), his real name is Paul.
I've been on pweb slightly longer then I've known him (freaky!), and we've been married two years now.
I work for the library, but I'm not a librarian (you need an MLIS for that).
I love TV, especially Buffy.
I love books, especially Neil Gaiman and Jane Austen and OSC and Connie Willis and Oscar Wilde and... and...
yeah. That's me.

Hi, my name is Rei, and I'm a bibliophile. *cue response*
Other names I frequently answer to are Brenton and Yoel.
I'm 21, and I'm an undergraduate in the Linguistics Specialty programme.
I currently am taking Latin and Modern Hebrew, and I have a hate on for syntax and universal grammar.
I may live at the centre of the universe, but I am still a west-coaster by nature and rue cold weather.
I've been at Pweb for over three years now, it seems.
I am generally obsessed with books, language, mediaevalism, and theology.
Tea. I am obsessed with tea, as well.
And scones. With devonshire cream.
I also should be writing about Slings and Arrows for Hebrew class, right now, so if you will excuse me... *pretends to work*

I am myself. I am (and/or was at some point in time) known as zeroguy, zero, sandwich boy, and whatever ungodly names surfaced in the old Calvinball thread I don't even want to remember.
I am not Canadian, but I do enjoy the confusion when people think I am.
Currently I am an undergrad studying Computer Science (aka Informatics). I also primarily use Open Source software, and I make minor contributions here and there when I can.
I can speak Spanish sorta well, and I know a few phrases in Japanese. I tried to start learning Japanese on my own at one time, and I may continue when I get a bit more time on my hands.
I enjoy playing the marimba, and playing Go, though I haven't done either in quite some time.
I've been on Pweb for... five or six years, I think? Something around there.

i'm Kelly.
i have been a member of Pweb for, god, over six years now.
i'm 24 years old. i graduated from ithaca college with a B.A. in writing and a minor in english.
i tend to stick to milagre, although when new books come out i perk up a bit in the novels section. in the past i've used Dear Bob to such an extent that he ought to be charging me for therapy.
...everything i can think to put here sounds trite.
i read voraciously. i am currently heart-broken. i live in nyc. i grew up in a suburb of boston and am truly a boston girl with all my heart. i love to cook. i love to do geeky arts-and-crafts. i am a dog person. i have insanely curly hair that i am insecure about and so i've taken to straightening it. i'm tall--5'10. my parents are divorced. i'm working on a novel that feels like it will never ever ever be finished.
...yeah. all trite and coming out weird and forced. i guess there's a lot of sides to me, but right now, it's so hard to articulate who and what i am. i'd almost rather have someone else on the board describe me. i feel like they'd be more coherent and accurate right now. ha.
plus i just get a kick out of hearing the impressions people have of me. the desire to see yourself from an objective pov, i guess.
...and i talk a lot.

you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

I've been on pweb awhile (5 years I think? wow...) but only fairly recently came out of lurking.
I'm an undergrad linguistics major and Spanish minor.

I'm Chris, but more and more, I'm known as Fris. I'm 19. I've been a part of Pweb since early 2003. January 23, if my memory serves me correctly...
Currently, I'm in my second year of college, studying (if you can call it studying) in Graphic Communications. Mostly, I just sit in front of a computer all day and make things that look cool. The other night, I found myself wondering how long I'd be stuck here if I added a second major in physics. I quickly decided that I didn't want a headache, and have since pushed the idea to the back of my mind. Physics leads somehow to English, and from there I jump to Theater and Film. Some days, it doubles back to Chemistry... If college didn't cost so much money, I'd be here for a couple of decades.
Oi.. I was going to type more, but now I'm back to thinking about what I should do with my life...

I am Abbie.
I am somewhat youngish.
I don't like stars very much but I like the color of the sky at night, especially with a bright, full moon, and I am wont to wander around campus after 6 PM (in the winter) with my face turned upward, hoping to not walk into anything.
I play violin badly.
I like to wake up at either five in the morning or five in the late afternoon.
My favorite word is silence because I like the S sounds and also its meaning, I guess.
I write bad poetry and short stories that no one ever reads.
I like talking to myself and laughing aloud at things in my head.
I sometimes dislike talking about myself, but I am the world's leading expert on the subject.

If you ever find yourself reading a book entitled The Bible, you will find yourself reading the story of Adam and Eve, whose daring lives led them to put on clothing for the first time to escape from the snake infested garden in which they were living.

I'm Nicole, or Nikki. Or even Nic /Nick /Nicki Cole. I'm also Sonia, Baby Doll, N or Sunshine.
I'm 21. I just moved to Nevada. I live about half an hour south of Carson City and an hour from Reno. We've actually had the house since end of September and I was living here until the end of October, then I went back to California, had a car wreck and ended up helping friends move to my old hometown of Gilroy. I finished moving them last week, they're moving again because of being robbed, and I'm back.
I'm going to be working in the cash room of one of the local casinos soon. Once I qualify for in-state student prices I'm going to attend school for accounting (pick up/fall back plan) and agriculture (dream plan).
My music tastes are quite extensive... Here are my favorites so far this week:
Hildegaard von Bingen, Patsy Cline, Charlotte Church, Anna Nalick, KT Tunstall, Modest Mouse, Death Cab for Cutie, Aveo, Arctic Monkeys, Dick Dale & the Del-Tones and this Celtic Christmas CD that I stole from my mom years ago. I took it pretty much within the first month that she had it. I'd share it if she ever wanted it. Otherwise it sits in my cd case.
I'm 5'12" (yeah yeah, 6'... leave me alone.)
I'm a brunette with currently bleached blonde hair. It's barely touching my shoulders at this point.
I've blue eyes and fair skin. Lots of freckles. Lots and lots. I burn if I'm in the sun for 5 minutes midsummer.
Two cats claim me as theirs. George, the skinny russian blue. Xavier, the fluffy black mouse killing (via slobbering and scaring it) machine.
I had a dog named Kiki, but about three weeks ago my mom was in a hurry to pick my brother up from work one day and didn't put her on the lead so she ran away.
I joined before but only lurked. Also, I didn't visit a lot. I'm easily distracted, I suppose. But, hopefully I'll eventually contribute something worthwhile.
Yada yada yada. It's four in the morning and I should really head to bed. Finally.

I am Josh/Doc/Moby/Chico/Tumbleweed and doubtlessly countless others.
I am a European American.
I am 21 by my first birthday and 4 by my second.
I died a few years ago.
I am Mobius of Borg, resistance is futile.
I am taller than you.
I work in a food processing plant.
I luckily don't care where my food comes from so long as it tastes good and it doesn't kill me (again).
I am quite intelligent, supposedly, but I don't currently use those neurons for much more than general smartassery.
I have been amusing myself and others around here since August '02.

I frequently call you Fabio, Fabio. So there.I said "I frequently answer to...", and I am not frequently called Fabio. So there.
You joined a week or two before I did, I think. I remember our join dates were close on the old board.I've been at pweb for... I'm not sure 4 or 5 years.

I'd be interested in seeing a Jani Introduces Pweb thread.Honestly, I think it would be more interesting to introduce other people. I see some of you so differently than how you've described yourselves, or the things I most love about you are things you're not going to mention, either because you don't see them or it would sound arrogant.

Hi, I'm Erica, better known to some as BAG, though I don't enjoy it.
I'm 20 years old as of November 12, almost a month ago.
I'm a student at Red Rocks Community College, studying art, mainly sculpture.
I've been here... 2 weeks? 3? I'm not sure.
I've got 2 finals today, so I'm not in a chatty mood, but I'll say this:
I'm a LotR freak. Love that Tolkein! Oh, and OSC, duh.
I'm 20 years old as of November 12, almost a month ago.

I'm Stephanie. I'm 24 years old. I'm a currently-non-working massage therapist. Instead, I'm a stay-at-home mom to the most wonderful little boy in the world. My house is almost never all the way clean, but I like to cook, so we always have a yummy dinner. I've been on pweb since early fall of 2000, right as I started college.
I would much rather Jani introduce me, than for me to do so myself.
