Well the lady n I just got two 20lb birds stuffed n stuck in the ovens for this afternoons dinner and it feels good to sneak away to the basement and put my feet up. Thanksgiving is a lot of work, Im just now learning that since I always used to hunt half a day on turkey day and since the game laws changed my labor is up for grabs for the day. Of course it's worth it and it gets me near my 5 favorite foods, huckleberry , cherry, apple , pumpkin, and pecan! Happy Thanksgiving everyone and lots of pie for all! :hatsoff:

Lots and lots of pie, sweet potato casserole with marshmallows, all the favorites. I also made some cinnamon-apple bread with the very yeasty dregs of our big hard cider jug. That was delicious too.

Brian has the flu. He's miserably sick. I've been a slacker on flu shots this year. I don't do them every year, but I usually do them when we have a baby in the house. It's just better to safe guard them. I took the kids to get shots this morning, hoping that it's not too late for them. I'm almost positive it's too late for me. I mean, I sleep with the guy. He breathes on me all night long! So, in preparation for (most likely) having the flu in the near future, I spent a lot of time in the kitchen so that my kids can have nourishing meals while I am laid up.

Chicken Noodle Soup in my [ur=http://nb-wonderbag.com/l]Wonderbag[/url].
Barbeque Beans & Hamburger
Creamy Green Chile Enchiladas
Breakfast Sausage Casserole
Pear Bacon Brussels Sprouts
Veggies Tray
Fruit Bowl

I also have a rump roast defrosting for Brian to put in the crockpot on sunday and I may make some pies before bed.

There are a lot of dishes.

I've been using the crockpot a lot recently. It's just so easy to start it right before I start working and have dinner (basically) ready when the missus gets home from work. Plus, it's soup weather! Which means I can make enough for dinner, plus 2-3 meals of leftovers that I can eat for lunch.

So far, tortilla soup has been my favorite.

My wife makes ' Fridge Minestrone soup" she uses the froze leftovers from her killer pot roast and throws it in the large crock pot and serves it in big crockery bowls over a big scoop of pasta of some sort (last time some tortellini) and a big hunk of fresh crusty bread. I only get this dish when Iv'e been extra good so I best plan a stretch of good behavior soon.

Indian rice + raisin wine. We made about three bottles from that jug, all about the size of the one on the table.

It's very sweet and packs a heck of a punch for something that wasn't distilled. I suspect it would be very easily used to create a hangover. But it's tasty.

I had a wild taste this evening a neighbor brought me a mason jar full of a moonshine n peach concoction sort of like "apple pie" liquor. As a gift for welding on his tractor bucket mounts. like it but it needs cut with something its a bit too hot, I guess its just moonshine with stuff added as its too sweet to have been distilled like that. I would like to build a still sometime just for fun someday, when we are done with my little plane I'm going to finish my producer gas plant and then a still maybe. Hey Elfman' how about fermenting fresh maple sap? would that make good liquor?

Straight sap? Would probably be much too weak, only because the sugar content isn't very high when you begin. But if you boiled down even a little bit first I suspect it would be very nice. There's a good midway point where I like to just take mugfuls out of the boiling arch and drink them straight, or with tea. I suspect that has enough sugar concentrated by that point that you could get something nice out of it.

One of our hands at the mill has a small hobby still and makes some hideous red eye but they all seem to like it, anyhow he asked me for some molasses straight out of the tank and he fermented it and made some rum but it smelled like august roadkill with a slight bit of compost pile. Who knows what else he put in it or how clean his stuff is, I would no way drink more than a tiny sip.

Here's a banana, I sliced it down the center (but left the bottom skin intact), and stuffed in butter and cocoa and brown sugar, wrapped it in foil and put it in the toaster oven for a while. Based on a similar concoction I make while camping which substitutes caramel and chocolate for the other ingredients and a camp fire for a toaster oven. Delicious either way.

Banana bread! I mostly followed this recipe, but added extra vanilla and a pile of cocoa, plus shredded coconut, dark chocolate chips, and walnuts. Serve with cream cheese for maximum deliciousness.

Lucky! Our closest is 2.5 hours away. Try the cookie butter!

Ours is only 40 minutes away (which is alright because it's really less then 3 minutes from where I work now!). They have my favorite store bought marinara sauce! Also, cheap flowers!

I wanted to like the cookie butter so bad, but I just can't enjoy it for some reason. I think it has to do with texture more then anything : (

After years of the closest one being 90 minutes away, we got one in the area (about 25 minutes away) last year. It's awesome!

Since I just got 6 wisdom teeth removed I figure I should post a guide of all mushy foods to eat when your mouth is totally worthless. :grumble:

-ORZO, surprisingly, it is incredibly easy to eat and you can top it with all sorts of different sauces or spices.
-Pudding, I had mostly the jello pudding cups
-Jello, good when you get really sick of creamy food
-Ice Cream, yum, no more explanation needed for this one
-Udon noodles, once you get on the uphill side, the texture is slippery which makes them easier to swallow

Ug. Wisdom teeth.

These were in my kitchen. (They are pretty much gone now after 4 girls and 4 moms got to them. 2 brothers finished them off!)

I got the Macarons, tartelettes and red velvet cupcakes from a bakery a town or so over. I made the chocolate dipped strawberries and the mini eclairs. (they are filled with a raspberry cream cheese icing whipped with custard.)

My kitchen hell the whole house smells of chocolate! Im such a sucker and an easy mark for the local campfire girls. I'll bet they have me on a map for an easy score at their campfire command center. And I can't not buy a pile from Daughter Maddie and granddaughters Haley n Katie either. I was going to take a few cases down to the VA today but Julie sez I best wait till tomorrow and ask so I don't harm anyone with it. Hell when I die I would think death by campfire mints to be a fair way to go.
