I'm so glad you liked it, Nomi! It is a fall favorite around here.
How did you make the cinnamon glaze? It sounds delicious!

you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

I used the ingredients for the glaze in this recipe; but I used regular milk instead of buttermilk. It was just a typical glaze but with some cinnamon added.

It doesn't really smell, but my ice cream maker arrived and we tried just a basic vanilla last night. It is awesome : )
I really want to try a pumpkin recipe, that one will probably smell. Mmm!

I was disappointed by pumpkin ice cream. But other people seemed to enjoy it, so who knows?

I made pesto today from my poor ailing basil. If I tried to hold out longer, the weather might kill it completely, which would be a shame. So now I have a cup and a half of pesto (from a recipe which predicted 1/2 cup?). Mmmm. Needs more pine nuts, though.

I went apple picking and now have more apples than I ever imagined my kitchen could hold.
I have made apple butter, apple sauce, german apple cake, and apple pumpking spice muffins. I plan to make apple dumplings, apple pie, and baked apples, as well as apple bars and yet another german apple cake.
Beyond that, I'm at a loss. WHAT ELSE?!
Any apple suggestions will be appreciated, particularly SAVORY suggestions. I want apples for dinner!

Thank you for using pine nuts. Maybe this should be in confessions, but I hate it when I see pesto recipes using walnuts or spinach, or even both! Sacrilege! Pesto is BASIL and PINE NUTS! So thanks for making it right!I made pesto today from my poor ailing basil. If I tried to hold out longer, the weather might kill it completely, which would be a shame. So now I have a cup and a half of pesto (from a recipe which predicted 1/2 cup?). Mmmm. Needs more pine nuts, though.
Kelly, I'm in the apple boat, too. My grandma picked me a whole tree's worth and we picked some off my mother-in-law's 2 trees this weekend, so I have 2 boxes full! I picked out the prettiest one and filled a drawer in my fridge for eating over the next couple of months. I plan to make some pies for the freezer, perfect my caramel apple brownie recipe and most of them we'll juice. We're using an electric juicer so it should be more like cider, since a steam juicer would make it more like juice. We still have quite a store of apple sauce in the crawl space from the last 2 years of apples, so I'm set there.
P.S. I 2nd Jan's suggestion of curry! I'm planning on making curry often with my apples. Yum!

Burned plastic.
I turned on my oven to bake my bread and pretty soon, there were nasty fumes wafting around my house. Brian stuck a plastic lid in there while we were bug bombing and I didn't know it was in there. My oven was on fire and I had nasty plastic smoke and my neighbors' kitchen smelled like yummy bread instead of mine. And now I'm scraping plastic off the bottom of my oven.

Thanks! I was really scared of fondant for a long time, but I have been successful 2 out of 3 times! I use the marshmallow fondant recipe since it's way easier to make and easier to deal with.

I made applesauce today. I've been missing my mom's fall cooking. It smells and tastes so good.

I made chili last night at work. Shamefully, I have no idea how it tastes. I was in a rush, and it had meat in it. Hopefully I'll find out tonight how it was.

Smoked chanterells? Ya it sounds nuts! But I had to try ,I had the smoke house going with alder wood cool smoking some awsome hand crafted string cheese I got from a costomer (this stuff is incredible on its own but I get a lot of it) and I thought about the shrooms in the fridge ( I could'nt keep them much longer) sliced them thick and smoked them cool for 45 min. I had to try them, I got the little iron skillet and a spoon of butter and Olive oil a smidge if salt. They are super flavorfull they shurely don't need more smoke maybe a little less ,or maybe a different fruit wood. Any how the kitchen smells great , the few I left for dinner I sprinkled over some alfredo with grilled free farm range chicken and made with another neighbors heavy cream yum. Everyone at home ate it too! thats kinda rare at my house I have a few picky eaters.

I made a roast last night for work. The smell as it was cooking today was enough to drive even this vegetarian to distraction.
I took the roast (1.2kg) and put it in a small casserole dish. The I poured some lemon juice and olive oil over it, and ground some fresh salt and pepper on. I took a couple big tablespoons of crushed garlic (and some extra garlic juice) and spread it over the top. Then I tucked a bay leaf and a few allspice berries in the dish, covered it, and let it marinade for 12 hours or so. Then I put it in the oven at 350F for an hour and a half, after tucking 4 large sprigs of rosemary around it.
It smelled so good I tried a tiny bite. Even with that small a piece, I could pick out garlic and rosemary flavours, and a bit of lemon. It was delicious. Given more time, I would have put it on a bit longer and slower, but I really can't complain.

That sounds very interesting, Kelly. What do you do with it? It sounds a bit sweet to be a sandwich bread.

It is actually a great sandwich bread. Almost all breads have sugar in them to proof the yeast. This recipe just replaces the sugar with molasses. It's not sweet like challah or brioche.

it was my birthday on Thursday and i had off of work so i made gnocchi, mom in law's recipe. it was fantastic. on Friday we had family and friends over to celebrate with hot wings and hamburgers. i made pretzel rolls for the first time ever from a recipe i found on the internet. actually alton brown's soft pretzel recipe converted to make rolls. i screwed it up the first time by doing it completely by the book and had to throw it away. but the second time was the charm and they were delicious. the hot wings were something i picked up from one of my wife's friend's husband. it's a variation on the frank's red hot recipe. and Saturday i made fajitas before our Halloween outing. tired of cooking for awhile now.

When I walked in the house after work, I could already smell the vindaloo, even though it was barely started. Man I love that smell, it's just amazing.

I don't know if nobody else is cooking, or what, but other people need to post in here or I'm gonna be at quadruple posting.
Tonight I was just trying to throw something together for pasta. A cream sauce of sorts, to mix a little pesto into. But then it became the best alfredo sauce I've ever attempted! It was way too delicious to put pesto into. And when my mom- and dad-in-law came home, mom!S said "ooh, smells good in here!" Woot.
