Chicken noodle soup. It was my first attempt making it myself, and I'm surprised how well it turned out. The only big issues was that I made the noodles too thick and they didn't quite cook all the way through. They probably would have eventually, but hunger makes me impatient.

Double post, I don't care! Just pulled a chicken breast out of the oven where it's been bubbling in Sweet Baby Ray's for 40 minutes. My house smells so good.

Wassail.

Looking at the ingredients in my On Guard essential oil (an immunity blend), I noticed it was a lot of the same ingredients in wassail. Since my kids dumped out my oil on the carpet and I'm starting to get a cold, I decided to make wassail to boost my immunity! If nothing else, it's tasty.

Pumpkin Seeds.

We carved pumpkins tonight, so seeds are toasting away. Butter, salt, garlic.

Pumpkin Seeds.

We carved pumpkins tonight, so seeds are toasting away. Butter, salt, garlic.
We made them with olive oil, salt, pepper, chili powder, and a little bit of cinnamon :)

Also made 2 fresh pumpkin pies (from a pumpkin); sweet potatoes with marshmallows; and a yummy stir fry with bak choi, chicken, broccoli, celeriac, ginger, garlic, and onions.

[edit]

Tried making crockpot oatmeal with steelcut oats and milk for breakfast this morning, but something went wrong. The outside layer got cooked solid, and the inside stayed soupy. I had to fix it up on the stove top this morning before eating it. Turned out pretty well anyway. I think my insides are glued together.

apples.

Apples.

APPLES.

we have two apple trees in the back, and they produced a prodigious number of apples. We'll have to do something dramatic to "get rid of them" ... thinking of renting a masher and press to juice most of them... and then making "hard cider" from at least part of THAT.

I'm making a yellow butter cake for a friends birthday. Just from a box but it still smells yummy :)

I dyed it orange because he is a ginger so it should be fun to eat.

I think kale is kind of a trend right now! Seems like everyone is just discovering kale chips or different ways to add it to their meals. I'm not complaining though : )

It's my favorite green to use in soup because it doesn't got soggy nearly so fast as spinach or others.

This isn't a smell in my kitchen -first, it wasn't my kitchen, it was Sunday, and it never smelled- but zero and I experimented with toasted homemade spinach bread, guacamole, tomato and pepperjack cheese and found the combination to be strangely good. Just sliced the bread, toasted it, slathered it in a healthy spread of guac., threw a slice or two of tomato and cheese on it and voila, nice snack after we ate too large a lunch and didn't want to not eat a little something for dinner later that evening.

Last night it was spiral pasta with broccoli and mushroom covered in Alfredo sauce and sprinkled with red chile flakes. Very soon it's going to be chorizo.

A restaurant nearby us makes an Apple-Brie-Turnip soup and I am attempting to recreate it in my kitchen. So far, it smells really good.

Made an awesome cabbage salad last night. Cabbage, walnuts, shredded coconut, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and a bit of brown sugar.

apple butter a few days ago turned out great. also ended up making 2 gallons of apple sauce... and the aroma that greeted me back from work was the gallon of apple cider turning into cider syrup...

[you might get the idea we had a lot of apples (from a tree!)... and yes - about 1000 pounds of apples! So now we have 15 gallons of apple juice (most of which will become something a little "harder"), and a myriad of other apple products; even about 100 pounds of amazing-looking apples, still!

tonight's smell, though, is "Beef Bourguignon" ...

There's something magical about the tiny amount of butter and spices that you put on Chex Mix that manages to flavor the entire ten-odd cups of cereal. I love it.

Cranberry sauce done and set out to cool!

Also, my kitchen smells like toast since the oven is full of bread turning stale to eventually put in stuffing!

Yum : )

Hmmm bacon apple pie, well I never met a pie I did'nt like yet! My kitchen smells of fresh cooked cranberry apple with white wine sauce. It is a test but it's good I did'nt make it too sweet and the wine is a good thing. I love to freeze a lot of cranberrys for the rest of the year they keep so good and are at their best now. My girl Sarah makes some totally kick ass cranberry muffins and I love them so.

Banana bread. Finally realized those overripe bananas weren't gonna get rid of themselves. So, sat Atty in his highchair by the kitchen door with some cereal and he supervised. Smells awesome. So awesome.
