Are you a fan of the game room?

I rarely go into the game room, and there are very few threads in there that I find worthwhile or indicitive of my commitment to the forum. While I'm not sure I'd spearhead removing it, period, I wouldn't miss it if it was gone.

I have a lot of fun in the game room, just wasting time before I have to go to class and such. Also, it's fun to see what people think up for the word association and CalvinBall threads.

Where's the "Fleh" response?

I really do like the gameroom.

I see no reason to remove it, since there are people that enjoy it. I occasionally post in there if I get bored. But I wouldn't miss it if it were gone either.

Well my feelings are summarised thusly: In regards to this thread, the question and the game room I say "fleh".

Theres a game room?

No I never go into it. Not my cup of tea.

Honestly, I don't care for it. I'd rather we kept mafia and calvinball in milagre, and got rid of the mostly useless games. But since people do like it, to each his own.
Couldn't all these threads really be one topic?

Probably.

But anyway, I like the game room. Because, as I've said elsewhere & as some of you have noticed, I occaisionally enjoy posting absolute mindless nonsense. The last post thread keeps the likes of me from playing this sort of monkey business in Milagre. Unless I feel it's neccesary. :P

there's a good reason for the board kids. that is to keep the idiotic games from popping up in here. and should "they" ever get a hair up their collective asses (or just one ass as it may be) they can turn off post count for that board.

if the board didn't exist then game threads would most definitely pop up in here.

Game Room
–adjective
1. of no use; serving no purpose; unavailing or futile; dumb
2. a manner by which to piss of mr_thebrain so that one may giggle at him

When the game room was first invented, it was (correct me if I'm wrong) to help clean up the clutter in Milagre, since those tended to be at the top of the page, with more substantive threads getting pushed down. On the one hand, I don't go into the games room nearly as often as I went into the games threads when they were in Milagre, and I did enjoy the games then. On the other hand, it really *can* get out of hand.

i must concur with jebus on the "fleh" option.

i think i've posted in the game room maybe four times on the new board, and it was, i think, in the riddles thread and the "pweb mafia profiles" thread (my profile delights me, btw. goddamn mary sues..)

the game room really doesn't interest me at all, so i pretty much never go in there. i like that it's separate from Milagre so that i have that option.

as for post count, i really couldn't care less. even though i've been a member of pweb since the fall of 2000, i had at least two significant absences, and so my post count was always "low" anyway. i don't think that had any notable effect on my standing in the community, however. so i don't particularly care.

Seconding this. It was quite annoying to have them up all in mah face. Although their separation has probably stopped my (albeit relatively minor) contributions to Calvinball, since I don't go in the game room, I much rather like it this way.

there's a difference between not using the game room and not wanting it. I think that everybody who doesn't use the game room don't necessarily "dislike" it.

I am going to agree with those who say a separate game room forum is a good idea, in order to keep the games from cluttering up Milagre.

I play the games occasionally, but mostly I don't have time for it.

They remind me of all these people I had temporarily forgotten about. Like Seiryu! What happened to him? I don't know!

When I went back through all the threads I saw tons of people I've never heard of. One person had just a picture of breasts for their icon.

It's kinda boring there anyway. I'm glad people have fun with it, but it's just the same few people posting the same thing over and over.

But, doesn't it make Pweb more open to opinions and sort of help attract new members?

Posted: Tue Mar 23, 2010 7:52 pm
by human.
I don't think it makes Pweb more open to opinions. Pweb is pretty open to those with or without the Game Room. Only lately has it really seemed like the newer people have been congregating there. I know when I was new here, the only place I ever posted was the Enderverse forum, and I think there are a couple of newer people who occasionally post there as well right now. Milagre can be intimidating for someone who is new to Pweb, I definitely know that. I was scared to even click the link when I first joined (though a lot of things scare me, I'm a wimp). I think it should exist, though. It's interesting and can be really fun!

Well, consider. How many people would leave if the Game Room was removed against how many would come back if it were removed.

More people  More opinions

Game thread posts tend to not be opinions so much as fluff. Honestly, if anyone left because that part of the board was gone, I'm not sure it's much of a loss for Pweb.

I think that's silly logic. People who would leave just because the game room forum was removed obviously don't have deep ties to the community (which is sad).

When I think opinions, I think intelligent, analytical, and in depth discussion going on, and while that might have happened somewhere in the Game Room, I really doubt it.

Yeah, I'll be right back on that... posting on 3-4 threads at once is fun...

EDIT: 10 minutes later, here's what I got without trying. (My additions are BOLDED)

If Seth MacFarlane was on time for his flight on September 11, 2001, we would not have Family Guy, American Dad, and The Cleveland Show.

You know, I had some really good conversations on previously deleted threads that I sort of wish I could go back and read. Cause now, when I look, I see a bunch of green and black from you guys' avatars. No seriously, when I use to go back, I saw lots of blues and whites and reds.
