Yeah, that week isn't updated, but we did save it last night. We should have the past week's posts up by this evening. A few got posted after the save last night and before Vlad and I lost the connection to the old version, so I copied the text and will put those up too.

Also, in order to work with this, I'm not sure why but Vladimir aka vovka changed my username and so all the vovka posts are actually Amka posts.

I don't think I'd mind it so much if I just knew what it was.

As far as I am concerned, it is Lord Voldemort. And that's why it scares the crap out of me.

Funny, it always reminded me of the Borg lady... still scary though.

It's a Star Trek thing... Captain Jean-Luc Picard was abducted by her and she is the "face" of the Borg. "Resistance is futile!"

Would anyone be upset if I deleted all the posts in FAQ that aren't specifically FAQ? I think it might help the newbies.

Yes, what IS the logo, exactly?
(what the heck is that?)

Suggestion: in the main website, connect all links except the "forums" page to the Ansible Wikia- which, if I understand correctly, has all the information which the main website used to have. No more dead links, and while people are working on PWeb main (hopefully) you could still find links to information about EG through the website.

EDIT: Apparantly, this wikia doesn't have much information in it, so any other OSC wikia would be fine- we just gotta remove the dead links from the website.

Sorry about that- last time I visited the website, it was just a bunch of dead links, plus a link to the forum.

New suggestion: make the "popular thread" icon (the one that wiggles) related to RECENT ACTIVITY, not just straight postcount. It's small, it's not a big deal, but it might be nice?

Ignore me if you will...

I thought it was the amount of views...not the amount of posts that made the popular icon show up.

I am actually with eri on this one.

Whether it is from posts or views, is it possible to just have go on recent activity? Or could we just get rid of it. It really annoys the crap out of me.

The code (as far as your regular mods can change it) is related to post number, however, we can set that number. Should we set it higher? How high?

A zillion. I hate it too, I just figured there was nothing we could do about it. This crazy new software is not my friend.

Well, IIRC, that number is set to the same as the paging number: 35 (right?) That's redundant, and annoying. If you can't change it to reflect activity, my vote would be simply to remove it, because paging is a good reflection of activity that's more noticeable and less obtrusive.

But without that icon, how would we tell that Confessions is a popular thread?

Oh, wait, it has way more than 999 posts. Phew.

So I've been noticing in the book forums that people tend to put spoilers in their posts. I've seen other forums where spoilers can be hidden until you click a button. Is that a possibility here? Because I'm tired of having to squeak around spoilers to continue a conversation.

The way the book fora work is that as we do a book study, we expect that everyone has read up to a certain point, and therefore spoilers are no longer spoilers. You will see how this works when we re-open the book club in the next little while, should you choose to participate. When someone talks about a novel elsewhere on the boards, they usually preface any spoilers with a warning and a few blank lines, and thus such a button has not been really necessary.

It's easy enough to color the text so it's hard to read unless it's highlighted, like this. Doesn't even have to be completely invisible; I think that's good enough. But having a tag or something would probably make it more prevalent.

This is a small quibble, but with the recent discussion about changing the logo, I'm wondering if it might be possible for PWeb to adopt a favicon, or page icon, whichever term you prefer. PWeb occupies its niche on my bookmarks toolbar nicely, but with 10 RSS feeds that I track through it which all demand their own space for titles since the icons are not at all differentiable, favicon-only bookmarks have become my new best friend.

I'm not sure if the BB system Pweb uses would preclude this, but if it is possible, I think a cropping of the "P" from Wil's new logo would be great. Again, though, this is a small suggestion, so if it is done, I'd be appreciative of anything that let me know where I was going at a glance.

It shouldn't, as just placing it at /favicon.ico should be adequate for most browsers. Or, hey, if phpbb lets you add the <link> headers, too, great. If someone wants, here's an ico that's basically the "P" cropped from Wil's logo.
