I was walking in the mall today past one of those "ingrave your name on a bunch of stuff" places and three of the examples were Will's (Ender1) name. Not just your first name - you full first name and last name.
It was weird. I'll try to get a pic next time I'm at the mall.
Why are you the sample??

Who is John Galt?
(I'm not really sure why; I guess because of the Randian conversations that have come up here, although this isn't the only place I've seen those.)

Now, is my last name spelled correctly? 80% of people never spell it right, even if I spell it for them.

This makes me really happy! I love James Herriot. (Of course.) Though, the model of the everything-to-everyone vet has largely fallen by the wayside (And I really can't complain because I really want nothing to do with cattle or horses, for example.)Reading "The Best of James Herriot" makes me think of Kimmie.

Fred has the cat named Cat. As my location would indicate, I have largely foregone my identification with Ms. Golightly.

I miss Cat horribly, he was one of the best cats I have ever known. I do however have a cat named Lulamay now (I know, wrong spelling).

I am reminded of P-Web by pretty much anything to do with Canada, really. P-Web was pretty much the only place that I ever interacted with oop there, despite living in a state that (just barely) touches it for most of my life. But now I have several Canadian clients (who are kind of jerks, by the way) and whenever they do anything to remind me that they're Canadian, like use the letter u where it doesn't belong, or call parentheses "brackets", I'm like "Ha, I know some Canadians, and they aren't you, and they're pretty cool!"
I don't tell them that, though.

While discharging the outdoor bookdrop items, I came across this movie. I saw the gun first, then the crazy eyes, then the title. How could I not think of Satya? It made me, gave me no choice, really.

I have a cartographic history seminar to teach tomorrow, and the section on ancient Buddhist maps of the world and Buddhist cosmology reminds me of Satya.

I learned something further about Buddhist cosmology and cycles of reincarnation. It was kind of neat. It also confirmed the "people are really not that different" thing, since the Buddhist and Christian maps (and the Aztec and Navajo and...) had little usefulness for geographical navigation, but were well-constructed for spiritual navigation. I can't remember the author, but it was all from a book called Maps: Finding our place in the world.

I'm working on an application for a conference/"summer school" and one of my first thoughts when looking up where it is on the map was "But if I go all the way out there, I want to go to the island Jayelle talked about that's governed by France!"

I was cutting out fake tattoos for work (I'm getting an influx of child clients, lately, and they're nice rewards) and I came across two awesome, awesome abstracty lizard tattoos that made me think of Nom. So I know have a red lizard fake tattoo on my forearm. (Long-sleeved shirt, so I'm the only one who knows it's there, but still.)
