Minor Things Which Make Me Irrationally Happy

This doesn't really belong in the "Things I Love" thread. It's not that big a deal. So instead, because it's not a big deal, I'll make a whole new thread for it.

I found the leather protector I've been looking for for two weeks! Now I can protect my boots!
I'm having mini-pizzas for dinner! Taste of childhood!
I have Nom-nom's tumblr updated for the next two weeks!

Discount macarons from an Amazon local deal. And they're good too!

This could be a personal triumph as well, but I like this thread idea.

I stopped filling my gas tank at $33.00. The best part? I beat the ever challenging .99 to do so.

Phone numbers. Nice ones, that is. Some numerical sequences are just plain ugly.

Also, making a mug of coffee in total darkness that tastes decent and without spilling anything. Part of my campaign not to rely on my diminishing sight.

I actually remember my Department of Ed PIN. I am awesome.

Also, see there? I successfully fought off the urge to write "PIN number."

When people I like have AMAs on reddit, and they're funny and fun people.

Specifically Dante Basco, aka Rufio and Prince Zuko, whose AMA made me a little too happy this afternoon. Irrationally, you might say.

Making funny faces at small children in public. Preferably without their parents noticing.

Oh god I wish I could just find a place to hang around at on purpose to do this without being a creepy person. It would become my on-purpose hobby instead of my incidental hobby.

I love making faces at babies while at work! Only when the parents aren't looking though : )

My 3 yr old Grandson Luke was following me around my workshop asking questions today, a lot of them. The kid was walking past me and tripped over a crack in the concrete or something and landed on his ass with a thud. He gets up brushes himself off and looks up at me and says "great now I have brain damage"! I laughed my ass off! Kids are just something else!

Finally throwing up. I know that makes no sense but I've been horribly nauseated for five hours and I finally threw up all the lentil soup I ate for lunch and I feel a million times better.

I successfully moved the dried, year-old flowers from work to the apartment without losing anything in the walk from the library to the train or the train to the apartment. They were from my parents when I first got here and will match the colors in the new place (which I didn't know when I decided to keep them...but hey, I'll take it), so I am really glad to not have lost them to wind or dropping.

Happy day!

This may make me a bad person, but Jennifer Lawrence tripping at the Oscars made me way happier than it should have. It would be impossible to walk up stairs in those dresses and I love that she just went with it. Not that she had much of a choice, but still. Can't help but love her.

I know that made me really happy as well, there is actually a part online with an interview where the reporter asks Jennifer if she is always that tall and Jennifer tells her that she is wearing really high heels. On the other hand she did look amazing in that dress.

Another thing that made me irrationally happy is ITS RAINING no mile tomorrow!!! I am jumping for joy. (no literally I no longer have to worry about tiring myself out.)

The ATM where I (rarely) deposit checks allows you to print a copy of the deposited check on your receipt. It's tiny, so you'd need either really good eyes or a magnifying glass to see it in detail but...it's right there, all little, for you to have.

See where this is irrational?

All of our ATMs around here do that, which I love. I don't know why but I have this irrational fear of the ATM taking the check and it getting lost. I hold onto the receipt for a least a couple of days.

That sounds amazing. I never put checks in ATMs.

I still haven't bought the bullet and used the whole "just take a picture of your check and we'll deposit it for you" feature I have. I keep meaning to, but it's just... different. What do you mean I don't have to drive to the bank?!

I've never heard of the "print a copy of the check on the receipt" feature before, though. That sounds pretty cool.

My bank (USAA) doesn't really have branches, I mean I've heard thy have them somewhere but not anywhere close to the three places I've lived while being a member. So I just scan my checks with my scanner at home and deposit them online. I don't even have to put on pants to "go to the bank". I hear I can also go to a UPS store and they will deposit a check right to my account using my debit card, but then I'd have to leave the house and put on pants so i just stick with the scanner :)

I have never deposited a check in the ATM. Seems scary to me! I've always had a branch with easy access, so I usually hit the drive through. Right now, there is a mini-branch inside my grocery store, which is super handy. I did sign up to be able to deposit from a picture on my phone, but the charge $0.50 for each deposit. And I didn't want to mess up the deposit of Tyler's space camp money, so I took it straight to the bank myself!

A tini-mini check sounds cool, though. I bet you could do some cool art project with them...

I'm like Teresa; I bank with a military/government run credit union so there are never branches anywhere near me. No, that's not true. In AZ there was one. But here, it would be an ordeal and I have no access to get on base anyway so I have to use ATMs in the network but that belong to other banks.

I typically don't have checks to deposit, since my paychecks are direct deposit but I got my security deposit from the old place back and a credit from the internet company, so I had to find somewhere to deposit.

I just thought, for records purposes it was really cool. I always get nervous using ATMs for anything other than pulling money, so this was nice reassurance.

I know I've mentioned this somewhere but mail of the personal variety, whether it's a letter or a package, make me irrationally happy.

Finding pennies on the ground. When I was without a job in 2008, I used to give all the money I found to my mom and would tell her I'd catch up on the rent I owed her eventually. I still call it finding rent money when I see pennies on the ground and that makes me happy for some silly reason.
