Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree (2013)

Okay, okay, no deleting even if I'm the only person to use it.

My Tree Facts:
Height: ~3.5 Ft
Status: FAKE!
Other: My first Christmas-on-my-own tree, has the ornaments zero and I picked out on Thanksgiving. It also has Star Wars ornaments randomly scattered throughout but you can hardly see them. I didn't acquire this in any interesting fashion; simply got it at a store in last year's after Christmas sale.

I will have two trees to contribute. Neither of which are technically mine, but they're the closest I have. Pictures are pending because I haven't gotten the one picture off my phone and haven't gone home yet to get a picture of the other one.

Here's a crappy pic of our tree (because our real camera broke).

Image

Stats:
4' tall
fake (can't have a real one since we're always out of town for Xmas)
covered in kid-made ornaments, a few nice ornaments and candy canes (that Ginny is mad she can't eat)

I promise to take a picture tonight (and probably upload it tomorrow)!

Our tree is 3 feet tall and fake. We bought it our first Christmas together and have had it since. When we buy a house, we'll probably get a new, larger (fake) tree.

7-8 ft and real

We went to get it saturday at home depot and the line to check out was hours long. unreal. We asked what time they opened sunday and decided to come back. Then we didn't like the stands at home depot (actually I like their stand but they were out of the size we wanted and there's no point buying a stand for a 12 footer) so we stopped first at Loews (out of stands and almost out of trees with no more on the way that weekend) and then at OSH, they had stands and a really sad tree selection. So we set the alarm for 6:30 on sunday, crawled out of bed and meandered the trip back to HD and after so minor stalking of the prey managed to bag this particular tree through a heroic effort of tree hunting. Yeah, we didn't cut it down ourselves, but it's Los Angeles, it's an hourish drive to a tree farm.

Pictures will be coming soon. I need to get Brian to hang up the snowflakes on our winter scene so I can get a good picture. (9 month pregnant me on a step-stool leaning over to hang stuff is not such a great idea!)

I'm loving everyone's trees so far!

Am I allowed to show off some other Christmas Décor as well?

My (made this year!) lightbulb garland:

Our stockings (on the wall since we don't have a fireplace):

And part of our annual Action Figure diorama:

I'm really digging the lightbulb garland and the Santaclock. If I set you loose in my apartment, will you decorate it for me?

Sure! You just have to pay for my trip to Chicago and all craft supplies. :)

If you're curious, Here's how you make the lightbulb garland.

I definitely didn't think I would have anything to contribute to this thread, but my Mom saw that I would. After spending half the week panicked about where I was going to put a tree in my apartment. My Mom shows up with this.

I guess I could jump in the Charlie Brown Christmas tree debate as well.

I love your stockings on the wall. Are those the ones you use for presents, or just decoration?

I also really like the colour of your walls.

Alea, it's even cozier to sit in with a cup of hot chocolate and a slice of pandoro. You should come experience it. ;)

Thank you!! My aunt makes and sells them. We are lucky enough to get them as wedding and baby presents, so we don't have to pay for them. Santa does fill these stockings and they hold a lot!! The ones we had as kids have stretched out to be even bigger than these are. :)
I also really like the colour of your walls.
Thanks. The color was called "Cookie Crumb." It seemed comforting to us.

Sorry for the blurry phone pictures, but I finally took some!

Our tree, complete with a very crooked angel!

Our new ornaments for this year!

This is the manger set my mom got when we were little girls. Because they're all soft and toy like, my cat Buffy thinks they are toys. My Dad has included the tweeting bird and their blur crab toy with baby Jesus so hopefully Buffy will leave Jesus alone and go for the actual cat toys...

My contribution to our Christmas village.

And, a stocking for our cats.

Merry Christmas, Pweb!

May I present the 20-foot giant that some guys in my apartment complex chopped down:

And my mother's beautiful tree, with more gifts under it than we've had a long time (we usually just get money):

Tree Facts:
Height: 7 ft (or 7.5? Can't remember!)
Status: FAKE! And pre-lit!
Other: This is our first Christmas tree. Since we packed up and moved Nate to NC the day after Christmas last year, this feels like our first Christmas. It's decorated wih a big box of shatterproof green and red globes, puppy ornaments my mom has been collecting for me since I was quite young, Nate's Patriots mini-ornaments and a few other odds and ends ornaments. I love it!

You guys have lovely Christmas trees!

I think the 20' apartment one is pretty great, though he needs to be fed a little more.

and yet not a single present out of place :D I don't think I've ever seen any tree's underside so well-organized!

Ha! Thank you! I don't know why, but i'm constantly rearranging the presents every time a new one is put under. It's hard to keep them that way because I have three cats who love to make a home behind them every year.

I'm still using the tree I posted a picture of last year and really, it looks the same (naked!) as it did last year but zero and I started a tradition of picking out an ornament each Thanksgiving to add to what is now our tree, so it will eventually have more ornaments. I suppose I can also just go buy some cheap ones or something.

Anyhow, 2013 Turkey Day Christmas Ornament selection:

And 2012's selection (we got two since they are so tiny):

I can't believe I never posted here before. I am a Christmas tree fiend!

We've got our tree up right now, but we're having a holiday brunch this weekend with some family and friends and I plan to do a lot more decorating for that, so I'll wait until then to post pictures from this year.

But because I'm obnoxious I'm going to post old Christmas tree photos now, and pretend like I've been posting in this thread all along!

2009-2010. David and I moved to MN just before Christmas, and so got this teeny tiny fake tree that first year. It made a repeat appearance in 2010. We decorated it with whatever odds and ends we could find, including old earrings and buttons and stuff. The picture is from 2009. I don't think I have a single photo of it from 2010, but it was virtually identical

Image

2011. Our first real tree! I had to beg David to let me get it. It was waaaay too big for our space, but it made me so happy. I was in the thick of making wedding decorations this year, and the star garlands made an appearance on the tree (and were present the next year, too. We'll put them on the tree as long as they hold up!)

Image

Image

2012. Also a real tree! This was our best tree yet, and for some reason I have no full length shots of it fully decorated! We picked it out at the farmer's market, and it was small but very nicely shaped. Both of our mothers gave us some ornaments we had made as children as wedding gifts, so those made an appearance on this tree for the first time. We also bought an "our first Christmas" ornament to celebrate our marriage (although David argued that said ornament was "stupid" because "it is not the first Christmas we've celebrated together." He can be a real Grinch!

We've yet to put up a tree or hang stockings, despite the fact that, for the first Christmas in our lives, we own a house big enough for a proper-size Christmas tree and a fireplace with a mantle to hang stuff...

First of all: I'm happy to see you post! I've missed your face and by that, I mean your general person-hood and not your creepy avatar.

Second: What the hell? Get on this tree business. Tis the season and all that jazz.

Merry Christmas, everyone! I'm in Boise with my family, pissed at USPS for taking too long to deliver my mom's gift. She'll have to wait until Thursday, I suppose. Hope you all have a great day.

Hope everyone had a great holiday! I love having all the kids ,grandkids, folks and friends at home for Christmas all together and all (cuz I do miss em) but it feels fine to see them all off and spend a bit of quiet time with the lady. I took a minute last evening and watched Julie keeping all the gal's and helpers moving and on task with all the last minute cooking and serving while Dad and I were trying to carve 2 big turkeys and hams. I wish I knew how she gets it all done.
