There's nothing to check. Cars are either male or female, more typically the latter, and you just know. You are a terrible father.

I'm vetoing Ninja.
Mine actually underwent gender reassignment temporarily. Under my brother's care, s/he was Trixie, because he didn't want to ride a male car. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Jan, I assure you that was in no way an influential factor in my decision to purchase this automobile...

*bump*

Being an adult means I had to take care of my own flat tire. Thankfully the guy who I bought my gauge from told me where to get free air. (Insert Spaceballs scene here). Considering how flat it was, I'm probably going to have to actually get it repaired, another unpleasant grown-up task.
I used to hate gravity because it would not let me fly. Now I realize it is gravity that lets me stand.

House hunting... (Pre-approval from the bank was pretty painless. But actually finding a place we want to call home: not so much.)

We were fortunate; the first house we saw was the one we ended up buying. Hope you find something you love!

House hunting, then packing up everything on your own not knowing if you even have the place you're hoping to move into because your current letting agency is less than prompt in releasing a reference. Hopefully it all goes through by tomorrow and I can stop staring into the gaping maw of homelessness.

Update: A proper, two-bedroom terrace house has been acquired. Also, house has been moved with the help of many, many people. Now I just need to unpack it and organise it and hopefully will have people to share it with before too long.

Thanks! We spent last night negotiating with the seller and reached a deal around midnight. Closing toward the end of next month.

Congratulations to all you new homepwners!

You'll be needing THIS site in about 5 years or so: Spare parts for ALL your appliances!

http://www.partselect.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I have no affiliation with that site, and I make no money whatsoever for you going there. All I can say is that it's saved me from having to buy a new washing machine (a $15 agitator cam), a new oven (a $20 oven heating coil), a new refrigerator ($40 in replacement handles), etc., etc.

(You'll thank me later)

I hate this throw away world we live in! I used to fix about everything around here but more and more when we replace appliances and just about everything else ,I have to buy the extended warranty. I used to just find the numbers and order the parts but now everything is full of computers and sensors, for instance our washer was going nuts and the last one we had was simple, motor , pump, transmission and a belt. The new one ( only about half a year old) I could barely get open thank God Julie made me buy the warranty About the same story on our fridge awhile back. So I've been on a kick lately extending the warranty on cars and trucks that we can , since I guess I can't do much without buying the test stuff for each rig. Thats kind of a racket too I had to buy the test tools and modules for our newer JD combine , swather , tractors and it goes on and on, even my newest ham radio is as bad as this computer when it needs something I have to send it to the factory for repair when I can fix my old ones myself. What I'm whinning about is where does this end , I used to feel good about getting my dollars worth from my purchases and then every last nickles worth by fixing, :bash: now I feel like I'm giving in to this "toss it n buy new chinese crap" world and it sucks!

No, but our previous letting agency wanted us out of our flat at the end of January, so I needed to find a new place to live out here. So far it is far better than where we were and the landlord is actually attentive to issues and deals with them.

I have to be the one to pack for 5 people for our road trip. And I'll probably pack Brian, too. (Tyler and Brayden do pack themselves, but I can't trust them to get everything the need, so I have to go through their bags to verify it's all there.)

I have to get our house ready to sell. Ugh!! It's so much easier buying a house when you don't have to sell the old one. And it's so much easier selling a house when you don't have FOUR kids living in it! It's all too overwhelming. What if our house sells and I haven't found a new one to move into yet? And I can't put an offer on the one we want until our house is at least on the market, but they'd prefer an offer on ours first. So, it'll probably sell before we're ready. And what if we move and find that we really can't afford the higher mortgage? But then there we are. Stress stress stress!!

Oh, and I drive a minivan. Ugh.

*hugs for steph* I hope it all goes smoothly.

As frustrating as it has been buying our first house (we finally close this Friday!), I can't imagine having to deal with getting a buyer and seller at the same time.

I really, really hope this is my last move.

I hate being an adult.

I have to decide whether to make the leap for this new house or to stay where we are. I really want the new house. I feel really good about the new house. But it pushes my net debt-to-income ratio up by 11%. That's a lot to a frugal gal like me. And it's freaking me out and making me rethink everything. Is it worth it to have the house with the bigger kitchen and a fenced yard of our own if it mean that we probably won't be able to go on trips, or to a baseball game or out to dinner? I don't know what is the best answer and it's eating me up. Our realtor, a friend, said that he would take lower commission (or no commission) if we needed him to. My dad called to say that they could help in some way. But being an adult mean NOT taking other people's rightful money. So, nice as it is, I can't accept those offers. Even though it would mean I would get my house.

On a positive note, my credit score is 816!

If a friend offers to reduce his (her) commission...take them up on it. Buy them a dinner later.

Also part of being an adult.

Speaking of frugality, being an adult means having three separate dealers compete to earn your business. The current winning bid on my new car is $250 under invoice, but I think I can do better.

Being an adult means:

Sometimes you spend an hour on the phone with your mom when you should be asleep pouring out your soul about people who are mean toyou. Even as an adult, sometimes talking to mom makes it better. (Also, she has good textbooks about interpersonal skills in the workplace and how one should deal with back stabbing bitches at work.)
