With real progress happening on the Ender's Game film and a new season of Arrested Development in the works, things are on a real up lately. There is only one possible explanation for this - someone (I'm not pointing fingers) flipped a coin, rolled a die or watched a radioactive isotope decay, causing a split in the timeline and creating the 'good' universe in which we now live.

This is, on the face of it, good for us. On the other hand, the existence of a 'good' universe implies the existence of the 'evil' universe, where as we speak, our evil duplicates are cutting out their felt goatees, viewing this universe with envious eyes, and are slowly and surely drawing their plans against us. It's inevitable that, given time, they'll try to cross over to this universe, steal our identities and watch those things we like. The only uncertainty is how prepared we are to deal with this, let's use this thread to brainstorms ways we can defend ourselves. Anyone got any ideas?

What if we launch a preemptive strike and invade their universe first? At least, that's how it usually works on Star Trek. Though, being the good guys, they tend to shy away from aggressive terms like "preemptive strike" and "invade" for more benign phrases like "scientific experiment" and "accidentally stumble across".

An evil version of me would probably be very similar, with the addition of the mandatory goatee. As such, We'd probably get on pretty well.

I say it matters not! As long as we survive, we can define what good is. And good is saving yourself via pre-emptive strike against the evil ones.

My evil self probably wouldn't be that scary. A wee bit diabolical perhaps, but more bark than bite.

Real life me: Compassionate, kind, empathic, listens to and helps people for a living

Evil self me: Sadistic, gets inside people's heads and convinces them to do her bidding and then laughs when their worlds fall apart, controlling, listens to and exploits people for the good of the evil empire and pure pleasure. Delights in betrayal. Also, wears dominatrix gear. And has a secret dungeon and not in the fun way (except, you know, for my evil self's fun).

Most days, I'm convinced this world's version of me is the evil version of me. If I get worse, I'm frightened.


This reminds me of my coworker's theory that there are many versions of us and if we meet one of the others, we explode. In that case, problem solved!
