Look what I got!

So! Who likes a bargain? Me! You! All of us!

Brag about the things you got for a good deal here. Cause I just picked up basically brand new Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire AND Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix paperbacks (with the black, adulty covers) for...
...wait for it...

Twenty-five cents each!! At the library booksale.

Awesome.

So, share?

When I moved last month, I got a bed (and frame and box spring), a desk, and a thing with shelves for free (I knew a guy moving away). I wouldn't normally count that in a thread like this, but I don't buy things very often, so I wanted to get something in.

uhh it's the criterion sale at B&N again, 50% off and then I have other coupons that reduces that to 60-65% off.

I may or may not have just bought eight blurays, ranging from a silent swedish movie from 1920, The Phantom Carriage, to Dazed and Confused. :?

Yay for random $2 MP3 credits from Amazon! I got Heartless and Storybook Love legally for free!

I got a free MP3 from Amazon! All I had to do was...nothing, besides enter a code. If anyone wants to try, I'd be happy to point them in the direction of the code but I don't believe it will work outside the US.

I got Blackout by Breathe Carolina, because despite months and months of it being played on the radio, I cannot get enough of that song and how much it makes me want to move.

i bought a new jeep! my last one died tragically when a spun a connecting rod bearing. rather than fix it right now and keep using it with 126000 miles on it - waiting for the next failure, i decided it was time for a new one. as much as i love the old one, it was my primary driver. can't afford the downtime it'd take to repair it. so i got this:

Image
Image
Image

it has sparkle flakes in the paint so when the sun shines on it and you look close enough, it really pops. its a 2007 and it has 84k miles on it, in great shape aside from some scratches on the interior plastic. and it's got 4 doors for the kids. very clean mechanically. i've had it 3 days now and put 400 miles on it and i'm seriously diggin' it. anyway, KBB puts it at over $19k, bank said $22k retail, i talked them down to 16700. feeling pretty good about it.

the three piece top is nice, i don't always have to take the whole top off to enjoy the jeep "open air" experience. takes me about 5 minutes to take the front of the top off and have no roof over the driver and front passenger seats and doesn't require anyone helping me or a hoist set up in my garage (though the back section does). it didn't come with a soft top, and i don't plan on spending 1000 bucks on a aftermarket one. i think i might go with a bikini roof though. it looks fun and will be super quick to put on if it rains. plus it takes even less room to store. and i can get one for about 350. i'm thinking next summer.

soooo yay me!

I don't know what a great deal this was but it's exciting nonetheless. We just got a new 95% efficient propane furnace to replace a ~50 year old fuel oil one that came with the house. We did get two estimates and went with the one that was nearly half the cost of the other. Also, now when we have to replace our water heater we can get a propane one, instead of electric.

I would like to go propane but there are some permit drawbacks to do with our basement set up. We have oil now but don't use it even though we modernized it and put in a flame retention burner set up. I would totally dig getting rid of that big space eating furnace and use propane for heat ,hot water, cookong and clothes drying. But I spose if I change it all the price of propane will go sky high!

Monday Night I got back froma late movie and thought, "I wonder if that criterion sale has started." I checked BN.com and it had, 50% off sale had begun at midnight EST.

Interestingly, their previous sale, Buy 2, Get 1 free, did not end until midnight PST.

I put some titles in my cart and it said I got one of them free.

I quickly placed three orders, for three titles each, for the titles that were normally 40 each, I got three for $40, for the titles that were normally 30 each I got three for $30, sweeet deal.

I got a pair of Pioneer HPM-100 speakers (4-way, ported) for $30. They sell for $300-$400 on e-bay.

Hell! They even have their own WIKIPEDIA entry!!

I just got a new washer and dryer for about 30% off, all told.

Our dryer must have heard us being pleased that we'll get a paycheck every week (we get paid on different 2 week cycles) because it does today. Given that I paid 150 for the pair 3 years ago (and the guy I got them from paid 300 4 years before that from someone else), it wasn't worth fixing. So, we bought a new one! The set was on closeout, we took the floor models (last ones left), there was a 10% off sale and 5% off on a Sears card (no interest 6 months, and we'll pay it all off when the statement comes in.) So, 1400 set for a little over 800 (plus delivery, but we'd be getting that either way.)

PC04--congrats!

As it turns out, those little domes are totally unimportant; they're dust covers for some soldered wires within. So, I used a small sewing needle and popped it back out, and it's plenty good enough.

I listened to one of my Philip Glass CD's for the rest of the afternoon...awesomeness.

Stylish denim jeans for $13.50. So well fitting that I bought a variety of washes... 7 pairs in all: 2 blue, 1 grey, 1 black, 1 white, 1 brown, 1 rust.
I hope I don't have to shop for pants for a long while.

Replacement Pioneer CD player ("Juke Box" style) and Dual-deck Tape Player, all separates, for my home stereo system. $20 each. And, for the first time in a long time, I THREW OUT OLD ELECTRONICS*. Such an odd feeling!

Got about a dozen of these for around 20 bucks, they're usually 3-5 dollars each. I've been giving them and other toys away as prizes in little contests I've been holding and hold in the near future on my site.
