You seemed to need some help. :)
(Not trying to be all secretive, by the way. Just don't want my screenname all over the place when this is about you.)
Claire is in Beijing! She's going to tell us all about. And has pictures, too. *wink*

The last few days...
Friday I was watching some people ice skate in a public mall and a girl came up to me and asked if I was a student. We chatted for awhile and then walked to her art school, where I was convinced to buy a painting. I got her email address and thought, wow! I'm making friends! But then a couple of girls came up to me again in the same spot today. I didn't stay long enough to have an actual conversation with them, but the fact that it happened twice in the same spot made me suspicious.
I had my first Mandarin lesson last week. It made me miss college.
After being forced to eat peanut butter for breakfast, I finally bit the bullet and went grocery shopping. Now I feel rich! Its like I can eat anything I want!
Buying an e-reader was the best decision ever for this trip. I have so much to read!
I'm going to take my camera to work tomorrow, so hopefully I'll have something a little more interesting to post soon!

Hmmm. It does sound a bit suspicious. I hope it's a new friend, and not people trying to rip you off. I'm going to be optimistic and say "yay! friend!"Friday I was watching some people ice skate in a public mall and a girl came up to me and asked if I was a student. I can't wait for pictures!

Re: Claire's Chinese Crusades
I know I let this thread die (I'm sorry, I'm terrible at telling people about my adventures), but I just have to brag about this insane trip I'm planning.
I think I'm going to return to the US in early March, so that gives me from Chinese New Year (the 23rd of January) until approximately March 1st to travel.
I'm going to try to hit up 9 places in 35 days, keep to my budget, and give myself time to say goodbye to Beijing at the end. I AM SO EXCITED AND STRESSED OUT RIGHT NOW.
