I'm really getting tired of Rainbow Dash, but I am pretty proud of myself that I guessed who Mare Do Well was pretty quickly.

Ugh, I had to work so I couldn't watch it and then I was busy so I couldn't do it after work.

Will get to this afternoon.

I can't wait to hear what you think, though I hope I didn't spoil anything for you.

UUUUUUGH DASH IRRITATES ME SOMETIMES!

And I swear, if you removed the words "cool" and "awesome" from her vocabulary she wouldn't be able to form coherent sentences. It was good to see her get her comeuppance, but the episode was all about why she's not in my top 5 characters.

I did like the Mare Do Well thing, and AJ being her simple, down to earth and common sense self, Pinkie applying her specific brand of insanity to something useful (saving a bunch of ponies from being crushed like bugs was pretty cool for her character.)

The new mouth styles, you've all noticed them I assume? Not sure what to think.

*grin* It's starting to seem that way, isn't it? Maybe it's so much of her so close together but she never seemed quite this bad before.

I haven't, actually. Have any side by side comparisons of old and new?

The good news is, I'm oblivious enough that I didn't notice until you said and then showed me that.

The bad news is, my knee-jerk reaction is: ewww, why? It's pretty well known that adding lines to the face of animated characters is bad, the fewer the better. It looks cleaner and younger with fewer, which isn't necessarily important but it's been established that they're relatively young.

Thanks for the link, though I suddenly feel bad for being so lazy and not googling it myself.

I noticed in the "pick a pet" episode, and then was watching for it with this latest one and didn't see any big differences. So maybe they realized it looked awkward, or I just didn't spot it.

On a side note, I am now caught up! So that's good. I've definitely enjoyed it to this point, and rank it with the other stuff that Lauren Faust has worked on in terms of "do I recommend it?" I only just now remembered today that it was made primarily to market toys to girls, and it definitely doesn't show. An interesting thought.

What about "radicalness"? :D And I think Friendship is Witchcraft already proved that she can be just as awesome and entertaining while only using the words "rainbow" and "dash".

The two dash episodes does seem odd, and I don't really like this tendency to leave out the other characters... but rainbow dash in the spotlight is always great.

The Mare Do Well "moral" didn't seem to jive with the rest of the episode to me, from what I recall. Most of her problems had to do with jealousy over darkwing duck mare do well, but the "lesson" at the end seemed all about her being overly boastful. And nobody even seemed bothered by her arrogance except her friends. It's like Boast Busters except if everyone liked Trixie, and Trixie actually could do all of the stuff she said she could.

On mouths/faces: I definitely noticed in "May the Best Pet Win", and didn't like it. But it's probably just because it's new; it doesn't really matter so much. I already find myself missing what I think was the lower quality animation in s1, but it'll pass.

I beg to differ. It seemed to me like the construction ponies and the ponies on the runaway cart that Applejack ended up stopping weren't thrilled by her taking time to talk s*** instead of, you know, saving them.

Twilight looks like she's in pain when she dances.

She dances like Elaine on Seinfeld. There'a pic comparing it but I can't find it at the moment.

I don't tend to remember plot summaries for upcoming shows for long after I read them, so I had no clue what to expect on this one. Shortly after it started and I realized it was a Rarity episode, I honestly fully expected to not like it too much, even if I have warmed to her considerably since S1. But it didn't take long for me to change my mind when I realized it was an episode on class. Oh man, that sure changed things quickly.

The names of the upper class ponies were great and there were some fun second appearances. And the song! I can't relate to that song at all but I loved the song. I'm pretty sure it's my favorite S2 song so far; hopefully I'm not forgetting one I actually like more. *grin*

I thought Twilight's lack of self-consciousness during the dancing was wonderful. I was proud of Rarity for not denying they were her friends at the end but I was pissed that she was being such a snob the rest of the time.

I've never watched Seinfeld, so it was all new to me : )

I'm actually starting to like Rarity a lot more as the series goes on. I can't relate to her at all, but I love her as a character.

Everyday Twilight's Shufflin'

I didn't get the Elaine vibe so much. But when I think of Elaine dancing, all I can think of are those thumbs shooting out to the sides, and the lack of thumbs here kinda makes that impossible.

Rarity's songs tend to feel like the best put together oh my gosh I'm talking about this but seriously, they do.

And I thought Twilight's shuffle was pretty cute and, really, how well can ponies dance to a "party" beat?

Well I was finally able to actually watch it the other day, been too busy since Saturday.

It was pretty good. Have to say I don't see where some of the criticism has been coming from about Season 2 from some fans. I wasn't thrilled about having 2 Dash eps in a row (and one of them was kinda subpar), but the Applebloom ep was good, the Halloween/Luna ep was really good, Twilight losing her mind was awesome, and obviously the 2-part Discord start was phenomenal, even the Sweetie Bell ep was good. And I'm sure once I get an AJ episode I'll have an even higher opinion. Hopefully we'll get more songs soon too, because as usual Rarity's was top-notch. (Art of the Dress remains my favorite.)

I was finally sufficiently bored at work today.

I already had a coloring book from the dollar store nearby. So I got another one and some colored pencils.

IT'S FUNNY BECAUSE OF THE NAME OF THE SONG THAT PLAYS THEN.

"Goodbye Horses", for those not in the know.

Nice avatar, Satya. I also owe some people coloring pages; soon, hopefully, maybe.

Also, in case it wasn't clear, I haven't been displeased-displeased with S2; I've been mostly nitpicking.

With that said, I really loved today's episode. Sound effects were fun, character interaction was fun, Spike was hilarious. It also left room for debate on how Spike can/will grow and whether or not he'll automatically become a "monster" the bigger he gets or if he'll be able to grow and maintain some civility. I think the latter, with some important checks in place.

Ah, I haven't had time (unfortunately) to take a look at the many, many parodies, other-language oddities, fan-made vids and such... But there's some real gems, as far as I'd heard. (And I guess Dash is male in some countries?) But I will watch that link when I have the chance Zero.

Just got to watch the last ep, and was again pleased. Spike's character expands (literally!) which is great. And it kinda gives a nice bit of 'darkness' to the show (though the sweetness-and-light is obviously the huge selling point even for older fans); the idea that there's a somewhat evil-nature that has to be overcome was a surprisingly 'adult' theme for them to use - and they did it well, staying within their genre-boundaries. Thumbs up. As you said GD, it grew the character but left room for much more in the future.

As a side note.. I freakin' love this crazy fandom. There was actual conversation about the fact that Junebug must be "homeless" based on the fact that when Spike encounters her, she's drinking from a public fountain, acts somewhat nervous when he talks to her, was obviously collecting flowers (has two big baskets of them) when flowers are a minor food source for the ponies in the show, and doesn't offer him one when he asks for something (the only pony to refuse him). I lol'd.
Nice avatar, Satya. I also owe some people coloring pages; soon, hopefully, maybe.
Can't wait! And the Christmas stuff just keeps coming; might change the avatar again.

Send it this way, if you do. :)

I really, really enjoyed it. Great history that was super fun to hear about but I'm confused as to whether the song at the end is a national anthem or a historical but seasonal hymn. It was technically sound and a great song in that sense but it wasn't a song I'll probably listen to all that often. I'm also curious as to when Celestia and Luna come along in the history of it all. But cool reference to what's his face, Greybeard? (I'm going to laugh if I'm really far off but as with all tv I watch, I'm terrible with names) The one Twilight dressed as for Halloween. I'd rate this episode top two of the season; I'm hesitant to say it's the best so quickly since that might be new episode smell and whatnot.

In Wal-mart, my two-year-old Anne excitedly pointed out the Pony toys, and called them by name, "Rainbow Dash! Pinky! APPLEJACK!" . Applejack is her favorite. I picked her up an Applejack toy a few days ago to give to her once she succeeds in doing poopy in the potty.

Right now! Or at least it is right now where I am. Ginny got a Pinkie Pie and a non-show pony, Lily Blossom. I was a bit disappointed that they wouldn't let me choose. We have all the main 6 and I really wanted (...erm..Ginny to have) Cheerilee.
