Okay, deleted my first very snippy response.

All I have to say is, really, I don't see the purpose of belittling a website in a thread devoted to describing the searches of people who do use the website, for either fun or information.

Whatever.

Where else am I supposed to go to get a concise summary of My Little Pony? I really don't care enough to dig up any sociology articles about it, but a brief summary is perfect.

gee, i'm sorry my opinion of a website is causing so many people to cry. if i would have known my thoughts would be so well received... i would have posted them earlier.

and i can honestly say i would never care to read even a concise summary of MLP. i had to sit through that show a couple times growing up, even though it'd been remade, as a child i thought the concept was stupid. i can't even force interest in it.

Batgirl
I love wikiing super heroes, but usually on the DC or Marvel wikis as they're more specific. It's an awesome way to keep up with what's going on in the comic world. You also learn neat factoids about them.

Whatever. Forgive me for not being super impressed that you would spend extra time doing credible research on anal bleaching.

Nobody's crying, hon. It's just, enough of us are intelligent people who have spent a good portion of our careers/lives doing legitimate research that we're not terribly impressed by someone who thinks that they're above it all because they avoid Wikipedia.

heh, again, i don't spend much time researching things. i just generally don't feel the need to research things like anal bleaching, MLP, etc.

i never said i felt superior to anyone for avoiding wikipedia. actually people's use of that site, while it annoys me on a certain level (when the news uses it as a reference), doesn't really register on my list of things to care about. my pride in avoiding the website is in no way a reflection on anyone's intelligence.

I didn't search it, but I looked at it because my friend posted it to her Facebook because her son found one in their bathtub this morning:
Thelyphonida

It is a horrible, vile creature. An arachnid that sprays ACID (Acetic acid, to be fair, but acid is sprayed from this horrible creature and that is something a mad scientist would create to wreak havoc). ACID!

Not a search, but I did stumble across the article about László Bíró, the inventor of the moden ballpoint pen.

No Wikipedia, no Reddit. How am I supposed to avoid doing work at work?

I think it's awesome how many big websites got involved, though.

I laugh at everyone who couldn't use Wikipedia on Wednesday. If you turned off Java or used it mobile it worked just fine. In other news: quite happy with how that while thing went off.

I had wondered why I initially saw the screen I wanted and it was only blanked a moment after. And then I went back to google and found another site.
