Fear Not
It has come out lately, that people are or have been scared of me.
People of pweb, fear not. I am not scary, I promise. I do not bite (anymore).
These are the reasons you should not fear me (and laugh at me instead):
-I once sprained my ankle during the very extreme sport of Mini Golf.
-I pronounce Bagel exactly like Britta. Seriously. Paul laughed his butt off at this episode because he's been mocking me for years for pronouncing it wrong.
-I fart loudly and frequently (Paul would like me to add: and stinkily)
-I am a complete and total dork about Buffy. I used to have a button that said "I'm a slayer, Ask me how!" , an obscure reference to a first-season episode. I was on cloud nine for weeks when a barista commented on it.
-The night I got engaged to Paul, we ran to every room in the dorm to tell them. (Only about 30% of those people cared)
-I'm from Canada. There is nothing scary from Canada. Except maybe bears. And I don't know any bears.

This reminds me so much of Revenge of the Nerds 2 (at least, I think it's part 2...they got even more ridiculous than the already ridiculous part 1, so I lost track of which was which). Anthony Edwards character can't go on vacation with the rest because he broke his leg playing chess.
"It was a very tricky move."
More on topic, I have feared you recently, as in, within the last year but after hearing you speak, sounding all Canadian-like, I don't know if I can be again. I'm excited to find out. (For science!)

But, ex-spear-a-ment is correct. Who says it the other way?I also say ex-spear-a-ment instead of ex-par-a-ment, but I'm working on that one.

*puzzled*
I'm confused on the bagel thing. Because, in my head, your accent is supposed to be similar to a North Dakota/Minnesota accent (with a few exceptions). And, man, there is nothing Northern Plainsfolk like more than over-pronouncing their long vowels. I'd expect baggle from a Southerner, not a Canadian.
In other words, where'd you get that from?

Baggle?! You'd get that from the northwest. In the south we say "BAAY-guhl"*puzzled*

I don't think it has anything to do with accent. Much like Britta, I think I'm pronouncing it the same as everyone else.
Other things to make you not fear me:
-I sing nonsense songs all the time. And wrong words to songs on purpose all the time.
-I'm short. Maybe not as short as our resident Ewok, but I still shop in the petites section.
-I am not angry at you, as a pwebber. You would have to do something seriously serious to make me angry at you.

I get different measurements all the time but I've gotten 5'1", 5'1 3/4", and 5'2". I go with 5'2" because BMI measurements are kinder if I'm taller. Teresa is 4'11", if I'm remembering that correctly.
I'm taller than my mom and maternal grandma (by less than an inch) and about the same height, taller than, or just barely shorter than my paternal aunts. My paternal grandma is like...4'9", 4'10"? Shorter than me, at any rate.
The men folk in my family are weird. Most hover at 5'9" or 5'10" but then there's my oldest brother who is 6' and my maternal uncle who is 6'3" or so.

I don't mean to alarm you, but you may be a member of a tribe of Amazons.
Jan's 5'4" is actually about average for an adult North American female.

Meh, that stat is from the eighties. And hey, I think that Kirsten and Kelly are similar height to me! I know so for kelly because we have similar body types.I don't mean to alarm you, but you may be a member of a tribe of Amazons.

my sister is 4'11" i'm 6' we look nothing alike. i'm her big little brother. she's also one of my best friends, we go out drinking together sometimes. unfortunately because we look nothing alike and are seen together, people assume we're dating, not relatives. it helps that i call her sister instead of her name, and she calls me brother

I'm 5'10". I'm easily the tallest woman in my family. My mother is the second tallest at 5'4". Her sisters hover around the 5' range. Most of my male relatives on that side of the family are shorter than me as well, except one cousin and one uncle. It is quite easy to feel like Dorothy in Munchkinland at maternal family reunions.
So, I have to get the height from my Dad's side. However, he's 5'10", as well, which is just average for a man. His dad and a couple of his brothers were/are taller than him, but not by much. It's weird. None of our cousins (admittedly, we don't have many on that side) are taller than average.
My brother is about 6'4", easily the tallest person on both sides of the family.
I think it's just something in their combined genes. "When their powers combine -- Captain Tallperson!"

Damn right it does.thats right the 3/4 matters!
I also want you to know, unlike my friends who've known me since around the time I was in high school, I would never play you Skee Lo's song, "I Wish." Or use your shoulder/head as an armrest. Or hold things above your head. Or laugh at you if you couldn't reach a glass in the taller cupboards and had to climb onto the counter to get it.
Ahem. I mean...go shorty!

"baggle" is an awesome way to say "bagel"! You should never change that.
I actually started toying with saying baggle not long before I started watching Community. I wasn't aware other people actually said it that way; I just thought it sounded fun.

I think all you're demonstrating is that the average girl is short.Jan's 5'4" is actually about average for an adult North American female.
