I need to find time to listen to noodle's interview. For some reason 50 minutes seems like a lot more time than 30.
Don't worry if you don't find the time. I am not as interesting as the rest of you. :)
If you think 50 minutes to listen is bad...
You are a genius. You did a great job of distilling my madness into a much more tolerable time, even if it's still too long.

Oh, he is a genius but he's an evil genius. He's not yet threatened to kill me over Kelly's (1 hr 34 minutes! getting shorter again!) but he's getting really excited about me finding a timer. When he does kill me, it will be when the timer goes off, I just know it.

Ah, right, the chat, where I can't see it. I'm not surprised, I'm just surprised he didn't say it to my face when I first broke the news to him. I'm also not particularly pleased with any guilt the people interviewed are possibly feeling over it when clearly it's on me (which is where he should be directing anger/annoyance/terrible humor) but alas. He's doing me the favor here so he kind of gets to decide how he wants to handle that.

Yeah, nobody feel guilty over it. Just, smack Alea and tell her to speed it up if you realize you've been on the phone for longer than 40 minutes.

Hey, buddy, you can't have it both ways. They smack me or you kill me after the last, not both; that's overkill.

Also, please dump my body anywhere but in the desert around my hometown. Desert of Vegas, desert of Phoenix or Tucson, but not here. Please.

Just so no one asks in the middle of the week (or tomorrow), looks like we won't have an edited interview up this week. Anyone who is scheduled to record, you're still recording as planned, you just won't have intros recorded with your interview since I hated the week difference in intros and air dates the last time we skipped a week.

We're back! Did you miss us?

Spotlight On- Session Twelve - Kelly - October 2/9/16, 2011

If you have problems with the link, an alternative.

Interesting Factoids:

Session Ten Call Time: ~1hr 34mins
Final Cut: 1:00:10

There are a few "Um"s in the outtakes. You have until next Monday to try to guess as close to the total as possible without going over. Winner gets to be proud they guessed closest! Let the games begin!

Despite being the second longest recorded raw interview, this is the longest final cut.

This is the first Pweb IV interview.

Yes, yes, I'm terribly sorry I didn't watch the clock on this interview.

hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

Still listening but I just want to say that my brother hates actual bananas but he doesn't mind banana flavor. His dislike stems from a childhood incident when he ate banana and then got sick and threw up.

I couldn't eat bananas for a few years (but can now) because I got terribly sick for a week and coincidentally ate bananas during that time. They didn't make me sick, I just associated them with it. I like them again.

Silly us, Wil and I lost the count on Kelly's "Um"s from her interview but we think it was in the ballpark of 274. So if you guessed that many, congratulations on having excellent hearing or a lot of time on your hands!

Spotlight On - Session Thirteen - zero - October 24/31/November 7, 2011

If you have problems with the link, an alternative.

Interesting Factoids:

Session Thirteen Call Time: a combined ~50mins
Final Cut: 35mins

First interview recorded in two states.

First use of unofficial (read: inferior for these purposes) themed music.

Please pretend you're surprised he did one; there was miscommunication as to when we could/should reveal zero was in Portland with us but the plan was for me to not say he was there, and get the others to keep the secret, and wait for this to be released. As if I could keep a secret for a month...

-----------------------------------

As for what my posting this means...nothing much, honestly. I recorded one more after this (and one well before this) that will get edited and posted and then we'll see about what happens as far as my involvement is concerned. There were/are 4 or 5 unrecorded that a Pwebber has kindly agreed to do in my place, as they very much deserve to be heard, that I'm going to ask still be the case for the time being. If I feel up to taking the reigns back, they've given me their blessing to do so and if not, I'm assuming they're still doing them. There's also some craziness in Wil's life, so he's doing his best to keep any sort of schedule and motivation when his schedule permits. All that to say, this isn't quite over yet but we're on somewhat shaky ground at the moment, so please bare with us.

At the time, I hadn't really thought about how long the delay was going to be between the recording and this post. It doesn't really make much of a difference, but it was kinda the motivation for my silly ridiculous self-intro. That's not really an excuse, but an explanation. (Wil also changed the pacing by cutting out my silence! The philistine! No sense of timing, I swear.) This is also a Simpsons reference, which I realize I never explained (except I did it wrong, it's supposed to be "walks on the moon" not "lands on the moon").

Am I the only one who has used Yahoo as my search engine since the beginning of time?

And I'm glad to know that my cat is not the only crazy, needy vocalizer when I leave the room.

Was there a lot of moving around, starting around minute 10? There is a rubbing noise every few seconds that's driving me nuts. :)

Sorry, blame my crappy webcam that we used for a microphone. I'm actually pretty impressed that Wil was able to get it so clean!

Also I was impressed in my complete inability to remember that I had this entire thing, unedited, sitting on my harddrive. Could have listened at any time! But I did not. So those first few minutes were surprisingly unsurprising.

Thoughts:

a) What's with the hate-on for superheroes, man? Comeon. Cuts me like a knife.

b) I usually listen to this during naptime/quiet time for my kids and since you ended it with the My Little Pony theme, Ginny came RUNNING out of her bedroom in a rage that I was watching the show without her. So, thanks for that. :P

c) Great interview. I love Mich's cats.

d) I did noticed the rainbow dash cutie mark on your avatar when you first mentioned it. I forgot to say something, I guess.

Well, technically, you only had the first half or so. The second part you didn't have (unless you actually did and someone sent it to you, in which case I am just presumptuous and dumb).
a) What's with the hate-on for superheroes, man? Comeon. Cuts me like a knife.
I don't hate the characters themselves, really. It's just that nearly every comic I've seen them in has terrible... well, not writing really, but... design, I suppose. I mean, they're pulp, so I don't think that's too much of a surprise. The only good thing that came out of that era that I'm aware of is the relaxation of the CCA's terrible guidelines.

I don't think I can explain it well, but... okay, one facet of this. Take Dragon Ball Z, an anime that most anime fans will agree is tripe (although it got a lot of people into the genre, myself partially included). One of the reasons it is so terrible is that the storyline at much (most?) of it is just comparing characters whose "power level" is greater, and who can do the more ridiculous overpowered "move" that some writer just pulled out of his or her ass.

Superhero comics remind me a lot of that. They're a bit better in that it's not all about strength or pure fighting ability, but they are still strongly reminiscent of just... ridiculously powerful/fast/intelligent/etc opposing forces that are resolved by something getting arbitrarily decided as "better", or works well enough to defeat the other guy. I find it hard for such to hold my interest.

Spotlight On - Session Fourteen - Kirsten - October-December 18, 2011

If you have problems with the link, an alternative.

Interesting Factoids:

Session Fourteen Call Time: ~58 minutes
Final Cut: ~37 minutes

I'm sorry this got done after she lost regular internet access. I forgot most of this interview, so hearing it again, I have to say, it's really good. Hopefully she can hear this soon.

Awkwardness, perceived or real, would be thanks to me recording this for her a few days after the Big Blowup; for that reason, it was the hardest to do. It got cut but I started crying at one point.

Image (<--will make sense when you hear the interview)

When I posted the first, I was convinced, when a few hours passed and no one even said how terrible an idea it was, regardless of listening or not, that it would go completely ignored. So imagine my surprise when I gave it some time and people started responding and so positively at that.

I was then convinced the two first, enthusiastic volunteers would be it but hey, it was more than none. So imagine my surprise when I kept getting more PMs from volunteers.

I thoroughly enjoyed doing these, folks. It has meant a lot to me. Thanks for everything.

Serious question for those who have been involved in these:

If a video version of your interview was made with a photo/image to represent you, which would it be? I understand some may not want their picture up, but if not, what picture would want to be in your place? I'm doing some tests, doing some slight audio editing on an early webcast, and adding some visuals to make it additionally entertaining to listen to AND watch, and would like it if this would be an easy place to go for those to 'control' what people see of themselves in the spotlights :)

Also, if there are things referenced in your interview that you have a visual you would love to go along with it, place that here as well. Thanks!

*bump*

So I'm finally listening to noodle's interview. And you all get a running commentary!

Did this really come out the same week Nom was born? Was it really that long ago?
Noodle's voice sounds a lot like this guy I know back home.
Super-oldie is a category? How old do you have to be to fit in there?
Toots!
Picking up pencils? I have not heard of this.
Sadness...I missed the golden days of Calvinball.
Who knew that Canada was such great hiding place? And does the CA have any actual Canadians?
One of my regrets: never getting one of those Pweb t-shirts.
Alea, I love what an amazing creeper you are, knowing what shirts he owns. Are you hiding in his closet?
I did not know F5 was a shortcut for refresh!
Noodle--you need to get to 1000 posts so we can have a party!
I'm not sure if I should read Homecoming or not now...
That was a lot of beer.
Wisconsin has beer? I thought the whole state was cheese.
Aww...you're high school sweethearts?! I love that.
I don't think I've seen 20 humpback whales total in my life, and I've been on at least 7 Alaska cruises. But we're cursed--we saw more whales halibut fishing than we ever saw on whale watching cruises.
Alea still needs her noogie.
I didn't fall asleep!
All that "I'm not a raging alcoholic" talk sounds like denial. As does the "I'm not a stalker." I'm on to your games.
Alea is a beautiful woman!
I used to hate gravity because it would not let me fly. Now I realize it is gravity that lets me stand.

Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.
