Brian might remember if he has puzzle rings as well. I can only clearly remember the side of the counter that had the astrolabes.

I've have to check out the show and see if they are the same astrolabes. Unfortunately, I don't know that we'd recognize him, as someone else was helping us at the counter.

So, I'm sitting on my birth ball, eating all your fruit.

It's the first time I've really sat on it for an extended period since we got it. I must say, I'm impressed. It's reminding me to stretch and it's soooo nice to be able to wiggle my hips around when they start to get sore. Only problem is husband likes to nudge it with his foot.

Yay for birth ball! Beats couch! Except that Tara can't lay and purr on my baby bump. I doubt I'm giving up couch altogether, though. This is just a nice alternative.

And about thirty minutes in, it has lost some of its initial charm. Ouch. Good posture sucks.

It really does I presently have 6 strips of tape holding my shoulders in close to the right position, because of the nerve damage and scapular winging the left one does not behave and it is very uncomfortable having it where it is supposed to be. stupid posture and correct body position. stupid tape.

I get the stupid posture and correct body position.

But how dare you be so mean to tape! Especially if it is duct tape. Not cool man.

I bought the camo duct tape to use in hiding letterboxes. It's harder to find than you would think!

Ended up sitting on the birth ball for about two hours last night, thanks to people in the chat pulling me in whenever I tried to escape :stoned:

Anyhow, the initial half-hour discomfort subsided with some wiggling of the hips (see OoC). However, upon getting up, my butt hurt madly, as it does after a bike ride when you aren't used to riding bike.

And... tape? Huh?

A little better than they have been, amazingly. Also, I just remember to stretch my arms and shoulders out more when I'm sitting here. And my neck/back pop more easily. If my butt can get used to it, I think this is my new seat of choice!

*does pelvic figure eights*

Also, who doesn't like wiggling their hips and pelvis around during mundane tasks?

Keep the birth ball around post-baby too. It's great for sitting on and bouncing them to sleep.

Yes tape, its tan kinesio tape. in a U or box without a lid shape on my back. the arms of the U hold my shoulders back and my scapula down and the bottom keeps them together. it is hard to get comfortable :( I was trying to find a picture of it online, I didn't succeed but I did come across mentions of pregnancy kinesio taping. and saw a little bay with the tape on too.
But how dare you be so mean to tape! Especially if it is duct tape. Not cool man.
I would never be mean to DuckTape it is awesome, and I shouldn't really be mean to the kinesio tape because it is helping me even if it is uncomfortable.

Rule Number 1 For Responsible Mothers-to-Be: No alcohol or illegal drugs or legal drugs that you haven't talked about with your doctor who knows you are pregnant.

Check.

Rule Number 2: Eat healthfully and engage in moderate exercise (if doctor approved). It's good for you! And the baby! Pregnancy is no excuse! Here are exercise options, now get off your butt and go, and don't forget the prenatal vitamin!

Well, I've got the vitamin down, and I truly am trying to eat more healthfully than pre-pregnancy (there's been a lot more fresh fruit, at least. Working on adding nuts and vegetables). And, since my hips and feet were feeling better today and it was a lovely, sunny day, I decided to Go For A Walk.

Yeah. Um. Overfreakingdid it.

To be fair, I don't know what my new stamina level really is. This is, sadly, because our trip to the various toy stores last week killed my hips and feet and my back has been hurting and I didn't want to exercise because, OW. And for those of you who are going to say that exercise is good for chronic pain and energy/motivation levels and a hundred other things, there is part of my brain that knows this and another part that screams, COMMUNIST LIES!

Problems with exercise today: :bash:

A. Thought it was a nice fall day. Wore my hoodie. HOT, HOT, HOT, and not in a good way.
B. When I started getting tired I was like, oh, what the heck, I'll just walk around this one block and make my way back. Yeah. The block turned into this weird twisty-turny set of roads that took me a lot farther than I meant to go.
C. Did not think to bring water. Total newbie mistake.
D. My hands started to get all numb and hurty and I'm wondering if I have pregnancy-induced carpal tunnel or something.

However, there were some positives: :thumbs:

A. Good start to something I really should be doing. And I know what route NOT to take next time.
B. Enjoyed seeing people out in their yards and got to wave to a baby sitting by a screen door.
C. Being in the AC and drinking water right now feels good.
D. I convinced myself to sit on the birth ball instead of collapsing on the couch, as was my instinct, and am busily wiggling the pain out of my hips. Well, trying to. Not feeling 100%, but I KNOW this feels better than sitting at a weird angle on the couch would.
E. Dr. Scholl's inserts did not totally take away the foot pain, but did GREATLY reduce it.
~~~
Jan, I am seriously excited to try bouncing the baby on it post-partum. I'm hoping if the baby gets used to the motion of it in my belly, that'll help it feel comforted when it's bouncing/rocking on it outside the womb, somehow.
Okay, this is weird and a little bit worrisome.
As sick as I felt in weeks nine and ten, it never got past the point of extreme queasiness and misery. No actual puking.
Until today. Took a shower. Was hungry, as per usual. Made some beef & vegetable soup, ate it with a couple of English muffins. And as soon as I finished, I ended up feeling horribly ill, and barely made it to the kitchen trash can, and up came everything, in three waves, and sorry for all the detail, but yeah.
I have not thrown up since 2003.
Was it the exercise? Pregnancy fluke? Should I be worried? It seems a little bit late to be getting morning sickness.
I feel fine.
Were you really hot after exercising? And then maybe the shower exacerbated it? I was just thinking maybe overheating could have lead to the puking but I really don't know.
Pregnancies can be so different that I wouldn't be OVERLY concerned. I'd definitely tell your doctor next time you see/talk to them, but nausea can be anytime. With my boys, my nausea didn't even start until week 10 or 11, when most people are about to wind down from it. Take it easy, eat something mild, stay hydrated.
Per a good friend of mine who struggled a lot during her last pregnancy, it sounds like I was dehydrated. (I also apparently got Braxton Hicks.) Apparently nausea and fake contractions are symptoms of dehydration in pregnancy, and even a little bit can bring it on. Makes sense to me.
SO, next walk, I go when it's cooler out and bring a bottle of water.
I've eaten tonight and no sickness at all, so I'm hopeful that was the first and last time.
Today I am 18 whole weeks. Cruising along towards the halfway point, just two more weeks to go.
This week in review:
1. Birth balls are awesome.
----a. They alleviate hip pain and remind me to stretch.
----b. Must learn to ignore husband's fart jokes over the noises the thing sometimes makes. Or the noises he sometimes makes.
2. Proper hydration is key to exercise (and life).
----a. Because losing amniotic fluid and/or premature labor is bad.
----b. Plus, throwing up sucks about as much as I remembered it did.
3. It's a really good thing I took off the rings when I did.
BABY! I can tell Little Bit's getting bigger, I am so nervous and eager for him/her to arrive. I want to hold my baby so badly I can practically taste it. And it's not even halfway. That's okay, though. Lots of things for us to do, meanwhile.
I am SOOOOOO freaking suggestible right now when it comes to food, it is a little ridiculous. Commercials, conversations, driving by restaurants, my response is, "Oooh! That sounds good! I want that." I don't jump on all my little desires, but I do jump on a good number. That explains the chocolate milk I'm drinking now, anyways.
One thing that really drives Brian crazy when I was pregnant: He'll ask me if I want *certain food he's going to prepare*. I think about it and say "no, I don't think so." He'll go and prepare *said food in a portion for one* and as soon as he brings it around me, I want it. Frustrates him every time.
I am still so tired, and we don't have internets at our new place right now. But I wanted to come in here and give Kirsten a big ole hug, because 18 weeks! Yay!
*HUGS*
Also, puzzle rings are awesome, and I'd LOVE to see a 5-band one. I've pretty much got them down pat, once you get shown the trick and do it a few times, they're all simply variations on the theme.
Naomi is doing well. Right now she is a champion sleeper. Apparently 35 weeks is notoriously sleepy, but we can barely even wake her up to get her to eat. Silly baby. She's still utterly adorable, and hopefully tomorrow I'll find some time to post pictures.
A dinosaur in a grocery store is not a very pleasant thing!
He marches through the checkout aisles and tramples over everything.
He puts his snoot into the fruit;
his tail wipes out displays.
I'll tell you just what I've observed --
A grocery store is not a place for dinosaurs to play.
So is 28 years.
I'm glad things are going well and love updates, whenever you get a chance, but I understand they may be few and far in between. :)
