Thank you for sharing those pictures with us! I love them, especially the family picture and the hat. She is beautiful. :)

*beams like the proud mamma she is*

She feels so, so tiny to us, but when I glance around the care unit, she's HUGE in comparison to most of the babies! She still has the naso-gastric tube, and will until she can properly latch on and suck reliably. Right now she gives a go at feeding herself, and then gets topped up by tube. She's still kind of confused about the whole business, but she's so very young!

Can't wait to see her again today! God, those snuggle times are so precious.
A dinosaur in a grocery store is not a very pleasant thing!
He marches through the checkout aisles and tramples over everything.
He puts his snoot into the fruit;
his tail wipes out displays.
I'll tell you just what I've observed --
A grocery store is not a place for dinosaurs to play.

I have, in light of Ali's beautiful pictures, developed a new mantra for dealing with headaches, back pain, foot pain, mood swings, and my love/hate relationship with food.

Every day I get through is one day closer to cuddling my baby.

I am a little tardy to the party, but congrats Ali and Brent. I am so happy for you guys. And I think I should get some leeway because she was a tad early

As of today, we have determined it is hereby Donny's job to carry loads of laundry up the stairs. I'm still willing to carry them down the stairs, but up is out. (We live on the third floor. No elevator.)

We have also learned that at least one type of Dr. Scholl's inserts work. Yay!

Further, we have re-learned that one should not stand underneath a ceiling fan when pulling a shirt over one's head. I slammed my right hand pretty hard into the stupid fan, and ended up screaming, "OW, f***, OW, f***, OW, FUUUUCCCCKKK!!!!!" And then I remembered that this is the week Little Bit is supposed to be getting the ability to hear my heartbeat and voice. So, I'm hoping really hard that this was not the first thing Little Bit has ever heard me say.

I know. And I also know there is no way I will ever be able to know if that's the case. So, I may as well assume it isn't. Cuz it's not like it will matter, really, anyhow.

It's just, it would be SO unfair, and therefore, I have a feeling it's happened. After all the sweet baby talking I've done to my belly, and singing, and laughing and playing with Little Bit's Daddy, and, NO, the baby tunes in right in time to hear me screaming curses.

(Probably not true.)

(I hope.)

My hands were a little cold today, and so I managed to wiggle off my wedding rings. It's to the point where I had to -- if I didn't do it soon, I might not be able to at all. This makes me terribly sad. My hand feels so wrong. I know, I can buy a fake one, and I probably will. (I'd be terrified of the chain breaking on a necklace.) It's not the same, though. I've had them off maybe three or four times since we've been married? And never for more than an hour or two.

It took forever for the indent marks to go. And my ring finger still looks sort of squished, hours later. Weird. I think it's probably a good thing I took it off today. Donny was looking at the red marks and tsk-tsking like he does whenever I'm hurt and don't think it's a big deal :)

I wore mine on a chain with both the boys. With Kinley, I was able to wear it the whole pregnancy! Woohoo!

I might wear them on a chain occasionally, but, honestly, I'm just sure it'd break and I'd end up losing them if I did it too frequently.

I'm nervous that I won't lose the weight after this and they won't fit again without resizing. I loved having my ring finger a perfect sample-size seven.

Also, my right index finger is still all bruised and sore and swollen from last night's encounter with the ceiling fan. All in all, not a great week for Mama's piano-playin' hands.

Even though I weigh a good 25 lbs more than I did when I got married, my ring finger is actually smaller right now than it was when I got married.

Also, I was already in the habit of putting my ring on a chain, since I couldn't wear it when I was working.

I take my engagement ring off to shower (I comb through my hair with my fingers and it would definitely get all tangled up if I wore it then) and when I'm cooking/baking something super messy, kneading bread dough, etc. Otherwise, I keep it on. Although I have this funny habit of spinning it so that the diamond is facing down on the palm-side of my hand while I sleep. Not sure why, really...

hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

I take my ring off to make bread, but that's about it.

Though I do fidget with it, sliding it on and off, all the freaking time.

I used to fiddle with my wedding ring all the time, until I got my Puzzle Ring back. Now since the puzzle ring has more movable parts I play with that one much more often.

Here's what my puzzle ring looks like:

Puzzle rings are a family tradition. My parents each got them when they lived in Turkey in the early 70s. Then my brother and sister in law got them as their wedding bands, and my sister got one from my parents when she graduated college, and I got one when I graduated high school. My first ring is long since broken to the point of not being wearable. It was made from sterling silver and I kept getting it repaired until I realized I could just buy a new one for cheaper than fixing that one all the time.

I got a new sterling silver one at the MN Renaissance Festival about 5 years ago, and two years I traded that one in for my current one. The guy who sells them is awesome, even though I had worn my ring every day for three years he took it in on trade for the full value I paid for it and applied it to the upgrade. In a few years I plan on upgrading again (This one is half sterling half 14K gold) I can get one that's white gold and 14K gold for not too much more.

Thanks, they are hard to come by. (though now with the internet nothing's hard to come by) I haven't seen them in many stores, but apparently the guy I bought mine from travels around to renaissance festivals throughout the country. He also sells Astrolabes, which I really, really want, but I can't justify paying for a navigation device that I really have no use for other than it looks awesome.

My mom's puzzle ring is a copper color (not sure what it's made from) and each of the four main bands are split into three smaller bands. You have to assemble the bands to make the four main ones before you can assemble the ring. Image. My dad's and Sister-in-law's are similar to mine, but all yellow gold. My brother's is way different in that it has 5 bands and is a different puzzle altogether. The guy we bought them from claims to be the only one who makes the 5 band version.

ETA: Image this is what they look like disassembled.

Its because its pokey. I turn mine stone sides in any time i rest my head on my hands because its more comfortable that way.
I wear my ring most of the time taking ot off for messy cooking, showers, sleep, and some workouts. but there are days I just forget to put it on. Chris on the other hand only wears it when i remind him. I only ask him to wear it when we ae going somehwere nice or somewhere i know he wont take it off. Which is a good thing because he would have lost it a long time ago, with all the wrestling and workouts. I've found many a wedding band in a wrestling room before.

If he sells puzzle rings and astrolabes I'd be willing to bet it was the same guy. He was on "How It's Made" when they did the show on Astrolabes a while ago.
