A Query about "Query"

Queries are often talked about in my line of work, and it seems everyone in the office pronounces it differently, but here are the two main ways. Which do you do? I'm assuming it's regional, but it's probably just one of those "I always read it and never had to pronounce it out loud" things until you're well into adult-hood and wouldn't question it.

Hmm, I actually say it like "queer-y" which I know looks insulting.

Really? All of these "queer-ees"? I wish I knew how to add it as an option. No one says it like that in the office!

It's pretty close to "wear-ee", though.

I would say more like "k-were-y" than anything else. I don't use the word a lot in my spoken vocabulary though, so I'm not sure how it would come out if I tried to say it.

qweeeeeeery. I don't recall ever having heard otherwise, though it's not a very common word outside of technical discussions, in my experience (which for me, are mostly via text).

It's a big word in publishing, too. We all say "queer-ee."

Nuh-uh! One is totally "wur-ee"/"kworry" and the other is "kwherey". There are a million different ways for non-linguists to spell it! Phonemes are fun.

Well, regardless, I think you have your answer, which is neither of your poll options.

Unless you're homophobic.
Which would also make you afraid of Homo sapiens.

I've always heard and said it as qweer-ee, like everyone else here :P
