Woah philoticweb got mentioned in Shadow of the Hegemon?

Woah philoticweb got mentioned in Shadow of the Hegemon?

Postby waffleman » Sun Jan 23, 2011 12:09 pm

At the last minute, Ami Chopine of philoticweb.net found a real howler of an inconsistency between this book and Ender's Game. Ami, I owe you big time! (And thanks to Terry Jude, Matthew Schwartz, and Joshua Smith, too)
-Orson Scott Card (Afterword of Shadow Of the Hegemon)

That is pretty awesome. Not only did that mention probably bring a thousand or so new members (it seems like I have a craze over new members doesn't it?) But it also means that the author is aware and actually looks at this website?

Pweb in general and/or specific members have been mentioned in the acknowledgments/afterwords of Shadow of the Hegemon, Shadow Puppets, Shadow of the Giant, and Ender in Exile.

OSC gives us props all the time. 8)

This is the first time I have seen philotic web in the books though.

What?! I didn't even bring up the fact that I was mentioned personally in the last two books. And I certainly wasn't waiting for someone else to mention it.

Pfft. Poser. I was into being in OSC's books before it was all cool and s***.

OSC still has plenty of fans who aren't as crusty and jaded as the folks around here. :P

My husband still teases me regularly for having attended EnderCon. I am quite proud of it! Sadly, I think Locke and I are the only pwebbers left (who still post regularly) who actually went to it...

I am rather dismayed that I actually got around to joining pweb AFTER EnderCon. Not that I'd have attended even if I'd joined on time, but I could dream I could have!

I really wanted to go, but I was only 19, and my parents were less cool with the "meeting folks from the internets" back then.

I bought tickets to Endercon (largely due to encouragement from pweb) and a friend and I were going to make a road trip of it. Unfortunately we never went; his parents wouldn't let him go (I was 18, he was 19 at the time), and since he was the one who was going to drive that sort of put an end to that.
you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

I don't think that the Pope was at Endercon. You're getting it confused with the Vatican.

If you mean OSC, yes, he is the one who organized Endercon. I've also met him at two book signings. And I met his wife at one of the signings, she was lovely and handed out Mrs. Field's cookies to everyone standing in line!

You're the one who referred to OSC by one of the Pope's many titles.

I don't think anyone thought you were. Just trying to explain Jason's joke to you because you seemed pretty confused.
