I assumed it was real because I don't recall him ever having an open-mouthed smile in any picture he has posted and when I'm doing the nearest thing to a fake smile I can do, it's close-mouthed.

Honestly, though, I don't understand how people can do fake smiles. If I'm pissed/sad/annoyed, I cannot fake a smile for the life of me. They may be uncomfortable smiles or I may be smiling at the running commentary in my head if it's a situation I really don't want to be smiling at but I can't fake them. The best I can typically scrounge up is a corner-twitch and even that tends to lead to a real smile because I feel like an ass for thinking I can fake it.

[/overly long thoughts on fake vs. real smiling]
That seems an accurate description on my fake smiles lol
Only i don't smile even when i am in good mood. A little thing i am proud of is my fake annoyed face.

I guess imo a face should reflect the state you want others to think you are at, instead of the actual state you are at. You can't give people too many clues into yourself lol.

What about when you're not feeling anything?
Well, I guess I was feeling kind of bored and tired that night.

I mean, can you fake a smile when you're not feeling particularly happy, but not feeling sad or any other contradicting emotion?

I generally keep my face emotionless, by default. And any emotion I actually show, is thus usually fake, since I'm allowing it to get through.
(Unless I'm laughing or pissed beyond belief)

I'm sorry, I'm struggling with this post.

Assuming I'm feeling as close to neutral as possible -which tends to only ever happen when I'm by myself- I'd see no point in even attempting a fake smile. But if I had to, for some weird reason? Depending on what prompted the attempt, I'd either swing towards pissed/annoyed or I'd swing towards happy and I'm right back to what I said before about being unable to fake it for the former and it being real for the latter.

I think lacking the ability or controlling the ability to exhibit real emotions the way you make it seem you do is a negative, unhealthy thing. But hey, maybe I'm the weirdo here.

I disagree.

I think it better not to wear my thoughts on my face.
Though I'm generally mellow, even when not, I like to keep perfect composure. Self-control.

I do still express emotion - but only when it's uncontrollable.
Like the smile that flits across a person's face when they laugh.

Likewise. My facial expressions only convey what's going through my mind or what I'm feeling when I'm really comfortable with the people I'm around or when it's a deliberate decision to show them.

In my case is a kind of self-defense thing. Not letting the enemy know what you think and whatnot.

But I agree that maybe the world could do with more people like you ^_^

Oh, no, no, no. One of me is both more than enough and one too many. Damn sleeves with hearts on them.

:P Seriously, at least one additional Alea would vastly improve my city

That speaks so poorly of your city, if that's the case. :P

I had to laugh (and smile a very big, very real smile) this morning; my favoritest coworker took one look at me and told me "You look how I feel."

I'd post my latest progress pic, but it might be a bit PG-13 for Pweb.

Fake smiling for pictures is really easy for me. It's just keeping it up that's hard. I can smile for a couple of seconds, but then it's so hard to keep smiling...

When I'm really happy, though, I can't fake a negative emotion.

Dude, I watched the whole clip hoping you'd at least be interviewed. Which one are you?? Timestamp?

Also, are you the thumbs up guy in the photo, or the one behind him?

I could be wrong but I think he's the one behind thumbs up dude.

At slightly on either side of 0:54 you can see me in the background with my saint mike's sweatshirt (purple inside the hood). That clip transitions into me (again with the purple and grey sweatshirt helping show off the biomass gasification unit we built.

Anyway, here are a few pictures from the last couple days of work on the passive walk-in refrigerator/freeze I'm helping build this summer. The last two pictures are for Alea's (and someone else too, if I remember correctly) benefit, to show that the ladies are doing great and remain unmolested thus far this summer. We may end up eating one of them though.

Just to fool you all, here is my non sheep girlfriend looking stunning, and me looking less than stunning on the last Paddy's Day.

Now there's a hat that sets a man apart. Stay classy, Jeebsy.

by Gravity Defier
It's not as though he could wear the top hat every day; you need to mix it up a bit, keep things fresh.

Posted: Thu Jul 08, 2010 9:54 am

This is quite true. One needs a variety of hats.

The top hat was being used to drink booze out of and the monocle was cutting up coke.

Classy is right!

You couldn't just slaughter a pizza or something instead?

However, I really came in here to inform you I haven't forgotten about our camera-whore off and while you may have out-whored me recently, I'm not just going to take this lying down. I'll see you your chest pictures...sorta. I might go roll around in the dirt tomorrow. :P

Now please excuse me while I go off and feel skanky for actually posting that.

Alas, I have no pictures of my chest.

Instead, I took a number of pictures with my view-finder-less camera last week, when the weather was great and I was out exploring Portland. I'm particularly happy that this one turned out almost how I wanted it.

Image

Since I just finished a project at work, I didn't have any real work to do for about a week, and had just started an experiment in facial hair, figuring I had no reason to be embarrassed if I wasn't going to be going into work or anything.

It was a poorly thought out experiment. My face will never mature beyond age 16.[/img]

Alea, you're gonna send all the pweb boys into comas.

Mich... didn't you used to be more shaggy headed?
