Seriously though, the only reason I don't post my picture is because it's my last line of anonymity. I have this irrational fear that one of my students will stumble across pweb and learn that their teacher posts here.
That's what I figured, a privacy thing.

You two look really good together, Cam!

So, pweb, help me choose! For Nate's birthday, I'm going to frame a picture of the two of us from Masquerade (semi formal party thrown by my vet school this weekend.)

Which of these 3?:

This one's currently my facebook photo:
Image

This one is cute, but he makes weird faces when he's taking a picture of himself:
Image

This one is cute and sort of romantic, but I'm almost out of the frame:

Um, wow, Kimmie. You look stunning in those pictures.

I like the first one best for you two (again, you look wonderful), but I also like it least for all the background noise.

And yes, Cameron, your lady friend and you look cute together. :)

Cameron,

I know it is improbable that I know her, but she looks incredibly familiar. She's cute too, nice job!

Kimmie,

Overall, I like the second one. But if you could cut the background out of the first one, I might change my mind.

Eddie,

She kind of looks like Olivia Wilde, who plays "Thirteen" on House. Maybe? I dunno. That was my first thought, anyways.

PCheese (Kimmie),

I echo those two posts above me: The first, but too much background noise. Cut the background noise out, maybe something like THIS, and it'll be a very nice picture!

Alea: :D Thanks!

Wil: I like what you did with the background noise in that picture. I very well may use that one. :)

All 3 of you: Thanks for your input! The majority of votes seem to be leaning for picture 1. :)

After doing the above photo "fix", or whatever, I had this awesome idea. They just HAPPENED to invite me to be the photographer (sorry Will!) on their round the world trip. Here are the photos!

First stop: Vegas! Of course, they had to come pick me up. So, this was where I had them pose for their first photograph. One of the best shows in Vegas would definitely have to be the Bellagio water show!
Image

Next we stopped in New Orleans for Mardi Gras! Lots of fun. I think they were a bit over-dressed though. Probably for the best, though. Kimmie is a classy woman and kept it clean!
Image

Continuing east, we come to Times Square and The Statue of Liberty! Man, those places were awesome!
Image Image

A quick little stop in London...
Image

Then we got to Paris, France. They made such an awesome couple here! I was lucky enough to get this amazing photo of them.
Image

Further East we went, making a stop at the Sydney Opera House.
Image

And finally, to end this trip, before they stopped back in Vegas to drop me off again, we stopped in LA! This would be South Bank, Los Angeles, CA. Awesome little park, and they had fireworks that night! Was a great end to a great trip!
Image

Thanks for bringing me along, guys! Though, next time, you guys should seriously think about maybe bringing a change of clothes or something... seriously. Suit and dress are nice, but, maybe try some different colors or something!

Wil

Bruneau Sand Dunes, a few hours outside of Boise, are made for rolling down. No tufts of grass. No changes in topology. Just steep dune, perfect for digging out of, well, everywhere fifteen minutes later. It can get a bit windy at the top, but that's okay: you wore a cheap hat anyway. I highly suggest anyone near there stopping by, and maybe having a dip in Itchy Lake.

I can honestly say I have never seen a proper sand dune in my life. I feel like I'm missing out on a seriously awesome rolling experience.
I used to hate gravity because it would not let me fly. Now I realize it is gravity that lets me stand.

We have some awesome sand dunes about 15 miles from my house; I pass them every time I go to San Diego but I've never thought to roll down them. Too many people on their ATVs.

quoted for most excellent truth. also, I'd MMUUCCCH rather roll down a big grassy hill than a sand dune.

That hill was spotted with rocks and bushes and was much steeper than said dune. I'm not so certain your choice is the wisest.

This would be at the Valley of Fire Nevada State Park about 300 feet above where we were parked. I climbed the... cliffy mountanious hill thing, and then took this picture. I didn't realize I was squinting at the time, nor when I checked the picture, but it makes sense given that there was this huge shining orb in the sky blinding me. Good picture, none the less, I think!

A better view, but not as good a picture, would be found HERE.

Wil, I can't tell if your eyes are brown or a hazel color but they're pretty. Also, are your lashes on the longer side, would you say?

Anyway, it's a very nice picture of you.

I also think the State Park looks like a fun and pretty place to visit; I meant to tell you that way earlier than this.

I've always called them brown, but I've never put much thought behind it either. Also, yes, my lashes are long. When the eye doctor puts drops in my eyes they complain that my long lashes get in the way of the drops.

Thanks. :D

Aren't contacts kind of a relief to get? And this is from someone who had contacts, decided they were too much of a hassle, and then got them again four years later. Not that glasses don't have their up-sides, but it's especially noticeable during the winter: you walk into a building and, surprise, you can still see!

Anyway, sweet deal, Wil. Only once you posted this did I remember you said you were getting them. Welcome to the elitist club!

After thinking about it for several weeks, I decided that save for the annoyance of putting them in and taking them out, they will probably end up being EASIER than glasses in the long run. How so, might you ask? Well, glasses have this crazy tendency to attract all sorts of liquids and solids. Don't touch your glasses on your face all day and you're still bound to find hairs and smears and dust all over them. Especially difficult with little kids who tend to like to grab at them with their ever-greasy fingers.

Not only that, but you're having to constantly push them on your face, worry about misplacing them if/when you take them off (being unable to see during this time, also!), worry about them falling off/getting knocked off doing every day activities, etc.

With contacts you never have to worry about any of those things, plus you can wear sunglasses, ski/snowboarding goggles, eye protection masks, full head masks, etc easily without having to get a prescription sunglasses/prescription inserts/looking weird.

Ultimately, there are several pitfalls with contacts. You can't swim with them, so you can't really wear them if you're planning on swimming. You can't sleep in them. In the unlikely chance that they pop out and you lose one, you're screwed (balanced, however, by the fact that glasses can break).

These are really just highly recommend suggestions, though. You can swim with them, you just need to wear goggles and ideally use a daily disposable pair of contacts. You can sleep in them every once in a while, you just need to be careful removing them after.

On top of that, things I've noticed in the roughly two days I've been wearing them: I have peripheral vision! Not blurry, but SHARP peripheral vision! I can turn my eyes all the way to the sides and still see perfectly. I can see better at night (strangely?). Lights don't seem to glare as horribly now either.

Because of all these things, I decided that a lens on the surface of the eye is much easier than a lens outside the eye. I look in the mirror and go "Oh no, where are my glasses?! I lost them!", but I imagine that will go away soon enough. They still feel a little weird, like there is just a little something in my eye, but that's because there is. Ultimately, at this point, I am quite happy with my decision to start wearing contacts.

I swim with my contacts in, it's one of the things I most love about them. that and periphereal vision, being able to see during the transition from indoors to outdoors when it's very cold or very hot/humid, not having to clean them, and well basically everything Wil mentioned.

I certainly can't swim with glasses. I lost two pair the summers I was ten and twelve, respectively, by diving into the lake with them on.

With or without goggles? I mean, I imagine so long as you just keep your eyes closed tight while under water and the water doesn't irritate your eyes they should be fine. Also would depend on what kind of contacts also...
