Whee! I was dearly hoping that they'd break the rules on tonight's Masterchef: Professionals and put both folks through, because I like them both and they both cooked fabulous! And they did! Both are going to the final. Looking forward to next week's final. :D

Don't speak such tempting words. I'm still resisting.

I just started watching Supernatural. It's kind of fun, but it's brought a realization to me: I love campy sci-fi shows where the main interest is in the characters.

Just started watching Downton Abbey over here. We're sucked in.

Oh, and speaking of BBC, just watched an episode of Vexed. Very, very funny.

I've never lived anywhere that had WB. It's pretty funny, too, how shows from WB just have a quality to them. Some way that you can watch them and say "This feels like a WB show."

I finally admitted out loud today that I have no idea why people think The Fonz is cool. Henry Winkler is such a dork, both looking and acting. I cannot see it.

I want to see it! But my husband has LESS than no interest. I can't convince him that it really is good! It needs to come in at the library for me. Or I need to suck it up and bump up my netflix plan.

I was watching Hulu at my friend's place and we were surprised at how completely boring all of the ads on Hulu made their shows seem. Hell, the X-Files looked like it was entirely just Mulder and Scully kind of talking while some guy smokes.

This meant I finally saw an advert for Downton Abbey, but it looked boring as hell.

Now catching up on Season 6 of Doctor Who...

Leather jacket and motorcycle, man! See also, exhibit eyyyyyyy.

I agree with the Winkler point, though. I remember at some point in the past wondering who the actor was that played fonzie, and looking it up.... "what the hell? that guy's not cool!"

Between the Walking Dead and Once Upon a Time (and Grimm to a lesser extent), I'm hard-pressed to think of a time I've watched TV where I've been so excited from week to week. Zombies and fairy tales; the only thing that could be better is zombie fairy tales. I'm still really enjoying MLP, too, though that's not quite on the weekly schedule.

I'm on the fence about checking out Downtown Abbey. That's normally something I'd be interested in but I think I'm just about at my limit of TV shows I can watch before I start feeling overwhelmed and married to my TV.

I'm still enjoying MLP, but only on downtime. I've been watching it on demand and I think they're about three weeks behind the new episodes.

For some reason, I got it in my head that last nights episode of The Walking Dead was the season finally, so I was super excited to find out there are still three more episodes! Then after that quits Mad Men starts up again and I think a week later The Killing starts back up, so my Sundays are slowly being taken over by TV.

Thursdays used to be my TV night with the The Office, Community, and Parks and Rec. The only one I care about catching now is Parks and Rec, which still makes me laugh regularly. I still watch The Office just because i've spent so much time watching it in the past, but I kinda don't care if I miss Community.

Just watched the pilot of GCB (based on "Good Christian Bitches" - a novel.)

Hilarious. I totally know those girls. The ones that never grew up, stayed in town and refused to let go of high school. The ones that went to church every Wednesday and twice on Sunday but were the meanest, most hateful people alive. The ones that can rattle off scriptures to justify themselves and to shame other people.

No KIDDING!!!

Also, I freaking love this season.

And Donny and I both think the scene between Herschel and Glen was like dressing him in a red shirt. Maybe not, though, given we're a character down.

That death was one of the deviations from the comics I don't particularly care for; enough to be annoyed by it. They've already killed off two people, now, who lived much longer in the comics and let one live who died much earlier, so while I'd like to say Glenn is safe for quite a while...guess they're not caring much for the bigger picture. And I'm pretty sure it's the guy who wrote the comics who is doing the tv show.

Me too. I know most of my friends are really tired of them staying at the farm, and think there should be action almost every episode (like season 1) but I like the suspense and drama and am really enjoying this season!

I finally caught up with Parks and Recreation. I really should have started it a long time ago..... But, I absolutely love it! It makes me sad that it gets mediocre-ish reviews, and I really, really hope it gets renewed. I think its actually beating 30 Rock for my favorite comedy on now.... The entire cast is just so great!
And part of it is possibly because I live almost exactly where Pawnee supposedly is :p

Anyone have any idea where I can find Season 2 of Downton Abbey? I was watching the first episode on PBS and it literally "expired" while I was watching it!

In terms of the Walking Dead:
Is it bad that I was beyond happy when the walker killed Dale? I know he was trying to keep the group's humanity, but his nosiness and attempts at being humane were getting in the way of the group's survival. Society has broken down. They are in the philosophical State of Nature now. They gotta do what needs to be done to survive; the good/moral man gets killed.

I also hate Carl. Like, the world is full of zombies...stop exploring woods on your own? It's like you want to get killed. Throwing rocks and taunting a zombie? Yeah, you want to get killed.

That zombie was about to be my favorite character in the show if he had killed Carl. I guess I'll settle with him only killing Dale; I think they annoy me equally.

I know they try to portray Shane as the antagonist/anti-hero, but aside from loving his best friend's wife, he's just doing what's smart. Doing what needs to be done. Killing Otis was inhumane and brutal, but if he hadn't, they both would have died. Carl would have died too. He did an "evil" act for his survival and the greater good. Rick needs to stop hesitating to do the harsh, yet necessary, acts.

Overall, I love the show. Though, I think they could do more with the token black guy that's basically done nothing since the beginning of the show. They haven't developed his character. He's not an essential part of the community. He's just....there. C'mon now. Eh, I guess I should be happy they didn't kill him off first?

I want new episodes of Community and new episodes of Misfits. :x

See, I kinda liked this. It's exactly what a kid would do. To him, this is just the world now. It's like a kid throwing rocks at a hornet's nest or exploring woods that might have a bear in them. It's stupid from an adult perspective, but to a kid, it's just exploring, testing boundaries. I think it's another scary example of how Carl is used to a world with zombies. He doesn't really remember what life was like before them.

ETA: Oh and apparently the character Dale died because the actor wanted out of his contract in solidarity with the writers who were fired. That's why it deviated from the comic (though it already has in many ways, or so I've heard)

Cool; thanks for that. That was one change I just couldn't make sense of happening so soon and I really did not like it. It being something other than the storytelling makes it better for me.

I thought he was a character of high morals and from where I'm sitting, currently zombie free, I'd like to think I'd rather die early trying to be a good human being than live longer being an inhumane douche. If you start acting like Shane, you're no better than the thing you're trying to survive and are, in my opinion, worse because unlike the zombies, you know exactly what you're doing. Start losing that sense of humanity along with the world and there's no point in surviving.

I disagree. I feel like people go into that sort of survival mind state when they're in danger. And, in an of itself, that mind state isn't evil or wrong. Police men are willing to kill criminals when their life is at danger. Does that make them just as bad as the criminals?
People have been in plane crashes and, with no hope of being rescued anytime soon, forced by desperation to eat other human beings in order to survive. It's like Fuller's Speluncian Explorers.

When a situation forces you to confront an obstacle with your morals on hold, I don't believe that your actions mean that you've lost your humanity or anything. Because, when you come out of the situation, wouldn't you behave differently? It has nothing to do with you, but the situation you've been thrust in.

But then again, it depends on your perspective-- but I believe certain experiments like the Zimbardo Prison Experiment show that the situation or role you've been put in can force you to behave in a manner uncharacteristic of your actually personality/morality. EDIT: But it doesn't mean your morality has been lost.

Walking Dead.... WTF!
WHAT in the HEll was with the people turning into zombies when they died of non zombie related causes. the kid's neck was broken by Shane. and Shane was stabbed by Rick. But they BOTH TURNED INTO ZOMBIES WTF!!!!!!!
Also I think Rick gave Shane every chance to "come Back" and be good again, but really he didn't have a choice.
