I don't think the wiki is still in consideration, but if you'd be willing to write those articles anyway, I know we would find a place for them. It would just save you time on tagging. :) Unless you know HTML and feel like adding in the basic tags like <br>, <i>, etc. Or unless someone suggests something better. Just start a tread in the appropriate section of the forum! :)

Also, I realised I mentioned "people who've worked hard" but I totally forgot to THANK them. You guys are great, and thank you. Loads.

If we make any modding decisions when we get to the new board, they will be articulated clearly and publicly.
By "we," do you mean the community or the current mods?

I had the current mod team in mind, since one or two have suggested they may not move with us and may hang up their hats. But I'm not adamant on that and would need to talk to the other mods. My main point is that we're not making any changes right now or for a while.

Ali, thanks for helping to get things settled down. And thanks to everyone who has put in work for this.

I have no thoughts right now. I was just happy to see the anger in this thread dissipate a bit.

True this. I mean, compare post counts and join dates, eh? LOOK AT THOSE.

When we were at Pweb II, I accepted not being a mod. I was young, and new, and it was not my place to lead. When Pweb 3.0 came, and others, who had come after me where chosen above me as mod, I was hurt, but I told myself that next time... next time it would be mine. As iPweb4D now dawns before us, I know I will not be passed over again.

I have a hat, that says "Mod" on it, it's a cream-coloured top hat, with bright blue lettering. I've never worn it, I've kept it in my cupboard, waiting anxiously for the moment I could place it on my head. I will be a just and fair mod if chosen; dispensing order and wisdom down upon the little people from my keyboard while sitting crossed-legged and wearing only my top hat and matching boxers... and possibly a tie for professionalism, though that might look silly.

Don't betray me again EL, do what's right.

Boxers, Jeebs? I would have thought you'd opt for just socks and the hat, instead. Well, and the tie. Socks, tie, hat. Done deal, make it happen.

Also, Josh, thank you for helping Will delete the spambots.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed how much the member count has dropped but between the two of them, they've deleted well over 1200 accounts. That's really cool of you guys.

Lastly, if Wil was serious about his intentions to stop working on the site, Chris (Wind Swept) has stated he will step in, if we're all okay with that. I don't know if he'd build off Wil's, go in a new direction entirely, or what, but I think it's nice of him to do that for us if we choose to continue.

That would be a bit too drafty.

I've thought about it, and I don't object to Chris working for free to make us a new site.

From Ami, on Nomi's FB page:
Oh. Oh my. That's fantastic! I was contacted a while ago to give control of philotic web, but things were quite crazy at the time. I'd love to give it to someone who'd like to take care of it. Meanwhile, it would be cool to make a facebook group.

The fantastic something or other is an EnderCon picture, for those who can't follow the conversation.

So, we might be able to retain the .net if Ami contacts Jan. I linked her to her on FB, so hopefully that's enough.

I'm potentially excited!

Well, now that we know Ami is alive getting a copy od the forum database should be a non-issue. I think I've gotten a better backup of it recently (usernames and passwords are intact), I don't know if it a complete backup.

It would be amazing if we could keep the .net. It seems promising that Ami seems excited to give it up.

For the record, I've been on Pweb since 2000.
Q: Will we be able to set original join dates for those who know?
A: Yep! I'll just do it manually, so if someone could supply a list of original join dates that would be great.

I'll e-mail what I have but I have to say, it's not much and I've been slacking on keeping info up to date since I started working. However, if people want to double check what I have, they can most likely find themselves in one of the lists by username. People who joined on 3.0 shouldn't need to worry (unless you want me to add you to the list for the warm fuzzies) and those who can't pinpoint exact Month-day-year should probably guess month and year and we can, if everyone is okay with it, set their join dates to the last day of the month they remember joining.

A-C
D-F
G-J
K-M
N-P
Q-S
T-W
X-Z

Sorry it's so small but I'm not redoing it; however, I'll clarify what I have if you can't read it. Columns should be, from left to right, username, name (blanked out) Ye Olde Pweb join date, 2.0, 3.0, alternate usernames.

And it was earlier than November 2000, cause November 2000 was when I joined Hatrack, and I was here first.

My join date was Sept 12, 2003 or 2004, actually.

Noted; thanks. If we ever get Ami to hand the keys over or just move because she won't, we can reset join dates, so it helps to have the oldest one available.

(This stuff was much easier to get and keep up to date when I wasn't working. I'm pretty bummed I haven't kept up, at all, with avatars. :()

I read through this entire thread. Wow. I had no idea all the stuff that's been happening around these parts since I left.

I see that the server move isn't really going to happen, but if it's helpful I'm a server admin and have lots of experience with the techie stuff, and I'd love to help in whatever way I could. However I don't have much free time for this kind of project.

Also for the record, I *know* beyond a shadow of a doubt that I was on PWEB in 2000. I remember Ela was there when I joined.

The November 4th/5th 2001 dates were when we registered for Ye Olde PWeb (probably version 2) following a crash. You'll notice that you won't find any registration dates listed before November 4th 2001.

I'm tired and low on patience, so I apologize in advance if it comes out snippier than I want.

I know this, so very much, I know this. (I'm Petrie, the one who posted the spreadsheet, if that wasn't known.) I haven't looked at those links since around the time I posted them but I did look at the spreadsheet itself and there should be three columns. One is for YOP join dates, one is for 2.0, the last for this version.

I went through and put down every known join date, for every version of the board. This board is the easiest, obviously, I had to use Wayback (I've combed and combed for hours and hours in the past) for 2.0, and YOP join dates I got from people giving me their best guess at when they joined.

If people want me to fix/update theirs, I'll gladly do it if they leave me a month and year at least. At this point, it's a combo of honor system and memory.

Sorry, I was tired and working it out in my own head. Just kind of thinking out loud (in type?) I didn't mean that to be a criticism of the dates you have. You certainly have better dates than I do, so there's that. I also didn't mean to imply that you didn't know that the Nov 2001 dates were post crash and Pweb v2. Like I said, I was working it out in my own head, and I didn't see it spelled out anywhere (in this thread at least) so I just wanted to make sure it was clear.

I had kind of worked out who you were based on the fact that you clearly knew more than any launchie should. The title helped too. :)

I was thinking about my join date and I just can't remember exactly when I joined. The past (especially dates from 10+ years ago) is very hazy.... Best guess I can give is sometime in the spring of 2001. But that just doesn't click with my memory of that year. I must have killed off too many brain cells in the intervening years.

Yeah, I think what I said came out too snippy. Sorry about that. I should know better than to post when I'm that god-awful tired.

No, not too snippy. and even if it was a little snippy, my original post could be interpreted as snippier than I intended.
