Our whole universe was in a hot dense state

Postby locke » Mon Sep 20, 2010 3:53 pm

Then nearly fourteen billion years ago expansion started. Wait...
The Earth began to cool,
The autotrophs began to drool,
Neanderthals developed tools,
We built a wall (we built the pyramids),
Math, science, history, unraveling the mysteries,
That all started with the big bang!

new season on Thursday, woo!
So, Lone Star, now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

The sun is a ball of incandescent gas,
a giant nuclear furnace,
where hydrogen is built into helium
at a temperature of millions of degrees

it's hot, the sun is not
A place where we could live
But here on earth there'd be no life
Without the light it gives

We need its light, we need its heat,
We need its en-er-gy
Without the sun, without a doubt,
There'd be no you and me!

The Big Bang Theory, a show on CBS that promotes horrible stereotypes about science nerds.

That we all know are true.

Postby Oliver Dale » Mon Sep 20, 2010 6:59 pm

I really enjoy this show, but I do sort of hate how everyone on earth will ask me if I saw last night's episode, as if I'm the spokesman. Seriously, chances are that no, I didn't see it.

Oh, and as for the stereotypes. Yeah. Totally true. In fact, I swear I miss a few of the jokes that are written for Sheldon because I simply nod in agreement. Only when I look around at how other people interpret what he is saying do I realize that what he has said is, potentially, uncouth. The man is pure logic. Can't deny that.

I love this show. Even though my nerdery is not usually the scientific kind, most of the jokes still resonate. I think I would not mind Sheldon in real life - he's very predictable and consistent, and I can work with that. I would not want to live with him, however.

Why do you all think we trapped Ollie in the Trunk? He even did the Sheldon thing when in the trunk and called his mother. "Yes, Mother, I've been placed in a trunk."

*sage nod* Ollie is definitely very Sheldon like.

I think he was actually telling on me when he called his mom. I remember him spelling out my name for his mom, so she would know who was driving the car. Although, he was partly joking...to be fair.

We've decided Sheldon's my dream guy. Though, by we I mean myself and someone I would have to fight for Sheldon. You know, if he wasn't fictional. Though, I think it explains why I still like my awkward ex-best friend, who once asked me, senior year of high school, if sex was like syncing a USB device. And other awkward, but more...uninhibited boys.
So don't go worrying about me
It's not like I think about you constantly
So maybe I do, but that shouldn't affect

I thought your new avatar was Sheldon when I first saw it, then looked harder and convinced myself it wasn't, but now I'm not so sure, what with you now declaring your undying love for him.

The premiere was so awesome.

We call them ShAmy

Interesting, in your own evaluation, Penny, would you consider yourself a slut?

still chuckling over the episode.

Hmm....I was a bit underwhelmed at the premiere. I think I do better with BBT when I watch it on a binge. Then my eyes don't roll as much. The thing with Howard was just too predictable.

I agree, Jayelle, I was also a little disappointed with the premiere. I was hoping for more, something to really kick off the new season, but it just felt like a mid-season filler episode. Hopefully next week's will be better.

I think you're all missing the important thing that megxers pointed out: Community exists. It's an amazing show and you all need to be watching.

Pssshhh doesn't compare with previous episodes of BBT. The saddest part of the whole show is I know about 85% of what they are talking about. . . . So I guess I would fit in perfectly with their little group, though I don't hold a masters in any scientific field. I'm sure Fawkies will disagree up and down, though.
I'm surprised that they did not have them playing the new halo game in the première.

Hard to play the new Halo when it wasn't out during shooting... I'm sure it will come up soon, though.

More than likely in real life they have more in common than in the show ;)
I have to agree with most of Sheldon's assessments about their relationship.

I can't help but think their real-life break-up had something to do with their characters' break-up. If it did, I find that kinda unprofessional.

Considering the breakup was probably plotted really early on and how quiet they tried to keep the relationship, even away from coworkers, I doubt it did.
