I don't think this has been posted yet. I was poking around on devart and found this in an artist's journal:
First it was rumours, now it is confirmed: Japanese director Satoshi Kon has passed away at the age of 47.

He was at the helm of some of my favorite animes: Millenium Actress, Tokyo Godfather, Paprika.
He still had so may stories left to tell. He will be sorely missed.
If anyone is an anime fan, I urge you to watch these movies. He also directed the Paranoia Agents series.

It's always so sad when someone with great talent passes away.

I heard about this from a friend this evening :(

Everything I've seen by him--Perfect Blue, Millennium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers, and Paprika--were amazing. I entirely agree that everyone should see his films (although Perfect Blue is probably not suitable to all audiences).

I only just heard about Paranoia Agents this evening.

I posted this earlier, prior to having watched Paprika, but I guess it didn't post! Anyway, this was an amazing(ly sad) coincidence, as I was just about to sit down to watch Paprika when I saw this posted. Anyway, wow. That was a crazy movie. I want to see more by this guy. And now he can't make more movies.

Also, apparently Wolfgang Peterson is directing a live-action adaptation? I wonder if THAT'LL happen.

I had honestly not heard of this guy before I heard of this... but I also saw a note from him recently, which I still found interesting.

Aww this makes me sad! I loved those movies. When I first saw this thread I was scared that it was about Haiyo. That is a releif. though just a small one.
