I know which of the supermarkets' discount house brand toilet papers are best. And when I think about it, I'm mildly impressed with the quality of the winner.

Re: Confessions of a 20-something mother
Sometimes I chase ducks. Only occasionally, and never more than a couple steps, I promise. I feel kind of bad about this now.
I would NEVER chase geese - those guys are scary and mean. And trying to touch them or pluck any feathers is RIGHT OUT.
But I still enjoy chasing ducks a little, every now and then.

I love that Google has thus far auto-filled every baby-related health and wellness search I have done on babies. Rightly or not, it always reassures me.
That said, I finally figured out that we're having so much misery because of oversupply and fore/hindmilk imbalance and I feel dumb for not just googling "infant poop green" sooner.

If it makes you feel better, I doubt I would have thought of that.

And I sometimes chase flocks of pigeons when I visit big cities. Not so much chase, as disrupt...run toward until they fly away. It's just an irrepressible urge! But no other birds, just pigeons.

There are questions I want to ask zero, questions that I don't really want to know the answer to, so I don't ask. Instead, I assume I already know them and I assume they're the ones I don't want to know, so I may as well just ask. But I never do.

I signed up for a Goodreads account. I'll never run out of books to read again.
This feels like it should be a confession.

I fell asleep watching Hugo. I feel like a bad person for finding it to be mostly boring, pretty and stylized as it was.

Re: Confessions of a 20-something mother
This makes me feel kind of like a bad person... but... I wish I had lied to my aunt.
You see, my dad has this sister. We have not seen her since I was 12 or 13. She kind of regularly goes completely off the deep end. She also hits up both her brothers for money and gets really mad when they won't give it to her. She made a scene about something at my cousin's wedding. She completely cut off contact with my family a while ago. We tried to find her to invite her to my wedding, but she was not findable. Suddenly, about a month after I got married, she joined facebook and friended us all.
Awkward.
Anyway, I decided to be polite and mail her a graduation announcement. Not really an invitation, but just an announcement. To do so, I had to ask for her address. And... she asked for details and offered to come...
My first instinct was to lie and say graduation was ticketed and I was all out of my alotted tickets.
My mom took the high road and said I should just tell her because it isn't likely she'll come and that way I won't have to remember the lie my whole life.
So... I did. I said I appreciated the offer but was sending announcements without the expectation of attendance or gifts.
And now, she's coming. And maybe bringing her girlfriend (who I've never met. She was with someone else the last time I saw her.) She was also quick to point out that she lost her job this morning...
I hope she doesn't make a scene..............

Re: Confessions of a 20-something mother
I keep hearing such rave reviews about the Avengers and OMG Joss! and I think to myself I want to see it and should do that this weekend or next Wednesday when everyone is in school/at work. I even checked out the movies I'd missed in theaters to be caught up.
But then I see Mark Ruffalo and again, underrated, good actor that he is, he cannot replace Edward Norton for me and I change my mind about seeing it in theaters. He did not start the role, so I'm not buying him in it now, from what little I've seen in previews.

I absolutely loved Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, to me he's the best one yet. I love Edward Norton as an actor, but I hated him as The Hulk. I was also kinda bummed there wasn't a Hulk movie to tie into The Avengers. But then I see Mark Ruffalo and again, underrated, good actor that he is, he cannot replace Edward Norton for me and I change my mind about seeing it in theaters. Rei took me out for a belated birthday dinner last night, followed by open mic folk night where we sang Barrett's Privateers, and that mostly made it better. We even had a sitter for Nom, so it was lovely.

I love box mac and cheese. There's something about it's cheap yummy goodness that makes my mouth and tummy so happy.
Kroger brand is far superior to kraft.
Homemade mac is a completely different thing and should never be compared.
Velveeta and processed cheese slices are abominations that should not exist.
But box mac and cheese? It will always have a place in my cupboard. Even as I move more and more away from processed foods. Or will still be there.

Re: Confessions of a 20-something mother
Kraft Mac & Cheese is David's favorite food. No hyperbole. The man LOVES his Kraft Mac & Cheese. He makes a killer homemade mac & cheese, because his Kraft addiction was getting out of control, and we try not to eat anything processed 99.99999% percent of the time. But he would take a bowl of Kraft over homemade anyday. When I met him, then man was eating Kraft at LEAST 4 times a week. Probably more.
I admit to loving Kraft myself. But David loooooooooooooooooooooves it.

I like the taste of it but for some reason it makes my teeth feel weird. Squeaky or gritty or something. Kind of like how Coke makes them feel.

Mac and Cheese is the best. I try not to eat it too often but I always have it in the pantry. Chris likes the "shapes" (though he refuses to eat the sponge bib shaped ones,...) I think they taste funny so half the time I end up making 2 boxes when I make it.I love box mac and cheese. There's something about it's cheap yummy goodness that makes my mouth and tummy so happy.

I will have to see if I can find box of the Kroger brand to try

I love the Kroger brand. And the Kraft cheddar explosion. Great Value brand is awful. I only eat spirals, shells, or shapes. For some reason the normal macaroni noodles taste odd to me.

Re: Confessions of a 20-something mother
I like KD. I hate that I like it. I only seem to crave it when I'm in the UK and can't get it. It's very annoying. I want to avoid giving it to Nom because I want her to have better taste in food than I do. But I do like my KD. Other brands are "meh", but from time to time I will enjoy President's Choice white cheddar mac and cheese.
We make mac and cheese homemade quite frequently, it's one of our go-to meals. If you've never tried it with worcestershire sauce, I do recommend it, it's a great garnish!

I also love box mac and cheese! My favorite is the three cheese shells from Kraft. Although, now that I think about it I can't remember if it's three cheese or just extra cheese...
Sometime's we'll leave the milk out so it's a thicker sharper cheese flavor, yummmm.

Re: Confessions of a 20-something mother
I used to lick the inside of the cheese packet when my mom made kraft macaroni and cheese.
I'm not sure when the last time I had it fresh was, but I didn't really care for it--too brunt on the tastebuds, too rubbery in texture, the cheese flavor still has that unique cocaine addictive quality though. Not a huge fan of pasta overall, anymore, which is strange considering how often I used to eat it.
btw, the cheese powder probably does have something something in it that lights up the sections of the brain connected to addiction. But my brain isn't functioning properly so I can't recall it off hand, nor where to look it up. Starts with a g, I think.
We used to cook it with hotdogs. cut the hotdogs into slices and cook them in the water with the pasta, a lot of flavor from the hotdogs cooks its way into the pasta and just makes it even more addictive. Best with oscar meyer hotdogs.
Anyone remember Hotdogs with cheese? One of my favorite snacks was to take a hotdog, cut a pocket in it, stuff it full of an entire american cheese slice and then nuke it. Put it in a piece of white bread and smother in ketchup. nom nom nom.
And that reminds me of the hotdogs they made that had four ribbons of processed cheese already inside them.

Re: Confessions of a 20-something mother
So we're sitting at Wicked, talking during intermission, and Steph starts telling me about this conversation she started on Pweb about box max & cheese. But I think she's saying Boq's mac & cheese. So I'm sitting there thinking about the book, wondering if I missed something about Boq making macaroni and cheese, or if that's something unique to the musical. Or maybe if we had watched it in a dinner theater we could have gotten mac & cheese that was a special recipe in honor of Boq. Is it blue? Isn't Boq supposed to be blue? Dang it! I knew I should have finished reading the book. Steph is gonna be annoyed that I don't remember the mac & cheese. Everyone on Pweb knows about Boq's mac & cheese. It's the best. Why hasn't Steph made Boq's mac and cheese for me if it's that fantastic? Doesn't she love me? Have we grown so distant that I don't know about her favorite food? I WANT BLUE MAC AND CHEESE! Then I finally realize that for the last minute she's been saying ”box mac and cheese,” and and I start feeling dumb, but somehow less dumb at the same time.
So, now that I'm up to speed, um yes, I like box mac and cheese. I prefer Steph's homemade mac and cheese, or the 5 cheese pasta al forno we used to make in Italy, but neither should be compared to box mac and cheese. And I like it with hotdogs in it.
And it's not that appetizing when it's blue.

Hahaha! Oh man, that was pretty much hilarious. A good confession.
