I've been spending ridiculous amounts of time browsing TV tropes and contriving how each trope I find appears in my own life. Well, at least the ones that aren't totally crazy.
Well, did you see the article on Real Life? It probably would add to the list of your personal article.

But, yeah, TV Tropes Will Ruin Your Life.

And now that's TWO threads I started a new page on today. Aren't I special?

Haha, oh wow, I've never seen that before. That is the only good tvtropes article.

Confession: I really do not like the Sinatra version of "Fly Me to the Moon", but I really like the various versions from evangelion. This is a real shame, since Sinatra's voice is really cool. I just can't stand the pacing, rhythm, etc that his version (or any western version, it seems) puts in it.

I am terribly relieved that we are now close enough to the wedding that if I were to accidentally get pregnant, it probably wouldn't matter with regards to the dress fit.

I feel very odd when I see a news story about some tech thing or another, and one of the people involved is someone I knew in high school or college. Or I suppose it's whenever I realize that they're working on something cool; but so far that realization only seems to come via news articles.

I guess on some level it's kinda cool because if they become famous or whatever I can say I know them, but mostly I get bothered by the "what if"... they are in a way demonstrating something that I very well could have done myself, had I gone in that direction back during school. I don't regret my own path, but I do of course wonder at times what it would be like if I had been a part of those other projects. And when I see stuff like that, well, it looks nice.

Life is annoyingly savestateless. As Deus Ex has most recently demonstrated (as have many prior games), I tend to try to explore all possibilities to see what happens. I need to get out of that habit...
I keep having this happen with people I know in music. I know at least three bands that are making albums and releasing them, and at least two of them have members that never would have met without my involvement. I'm musically inclined, and I can think of a few slightly different things I could have done that probably would have gotten me more heavily involved with these bands than just "music mixer" at a couple parties for one of them, or "guy we send our LP to for free" for another.

Then again, they all make pretty sweet music, so I can't really be annoyed.

I am not even engaged yet, and this is a palpable fear of mine.

hear the bells are

No matter what, these songs always, always, always make me think of you, and will do so until I die. And as long as I never hear these songs again I can pretend that I never loved you.

Sometimes, I really feel like I'd be an awful mother.

I've been petting my cat and playing with her all day, and the minute I got up to do laundry, she starts meowing at me to give her more attention. It makes me want to yell at her..

Ditto to little boys in my building. Despite the fact that they're not doing anything wrong, I want to yell at them for sitting and playing in the hallway. Their loud voices irritate me as I walk to the laundry room and back.

I certainly hope I'm not this terrible with my own kids...

ETA:
And then a little girl in the hallway says "Hi" to me, and my heart melts, and I realize I wouldn't be that awful after all.

I developed a slight crush on my cousins wife while on my camping trip last week. She has a light case of adult asthma and couldn't handle the camp fire smoke, so I spent several hours over several nights keeping her company in the trailer, and pretty much talked with her on all of the hikes. She's just a very easy person to talk to, and has the same sense of humor that I do. Plus, she is naturally flirtatious, so that doesn't help things either.

I'm suffering from a lack of desire to post and I don't know if it's a silent protest of GD's absence or what...but I wish I could shake it.

Ender's Game (or rather, the subsequent novels) has made me slightly crazy, lol. Now, whenever I feel myself forming a bond with someone knew, I imagine these philotic threads connecting us getting thicker and changing colors.

I really want to see Santa Buddies: The Legend of Santa Paws and Camp Rock 2.

I love Justin Bieber's song, "One Time."

I'm over the moon about Nicki Minaj's "Your Love," even though the best part of that song is the sampling from Annie Lennox, because it reminds me of "Knockout," the song Nicki Minaj did with Lil Wayne and that reminds me of reading You Couldn't Ignore Me If You Tried. Both "Knockout" and YCIMIYT remind me of Wimp. I'm going to pretend the optimism from which that springs is about my future in general.

Woo, got my free custom mousepad in the mail yesterday! I love random internet how-tos.
All I can think about when I hear this referenced is the pornographic ones I saw on /v/. (they apparently ship pornographic ones)

How are they not losing a lot of money on this, btw?

2 Confessions today:

1) I totally left work at 2pm, because I didn't feel like staying an extra hour after training. I justify this by the fact that for the next 3 months I have to come in 30 minutes early without pay.

2) I feel like a total bitch when I blatantly ignore a guy who comes to talk to me, but really, playing the cold bitch is just about the only way the guys at work get the point drilled down. I don't want to feel like I'm back in high school, but seriously, I'm a supervisor. If I'm your immediate boss, there's no way in hell I'd date you.

..and ignoring them is the best way to convey that message, because regular "I'm sorry, I'm your boss, so we can't date" talk is completely ineffective and will achieve the opposite results? [/sarcasm]

It depends. When you've had this talk with the same guy at least 15 times in the past 2 months, finally it's time to just flat out ignore him and play with your phone while he tries to chat you up.

Perhaps a better option would be a conversation about how what he is doing is not only a waste of company time for which he (or, if you want to keep the 'buddy' card, both of you) could easily be reprimanded, but is also something that is bordering on the lines of sexual harassment. You're his supervisor, and that is something that needs to be respected.

It's not about emotions or hurting his feelings, it's about respect for you as a supervisor. If you want to lead these people, they're going to need to respect you. If you've had these conversations before and it continues, that is evidence that he does not respect you. Put your foot down now so he'll respect you later.
Stop trying to be perfect. Focus on being you; perfect will come.
