I play Farm Town on Facebook. Whenever I go to the Marketplace to hire someone, I try very, very hard to wait until someone requests to be hired in a grammatically correct fashion. Sadly, after about five to ten minutes, I usually give up and just hire someone who uses a capital letter or some sort of punctuation.
There's another home somewhere,
There's another glimpse of sky...
There's another way to lean
into the wind, unafraid.
There's another life out there...

Today's Penny Arcade made me laugh. It's... it's not a good joke, dammit.

Both of my parents play Farm Town and pretty much do nothing else anymore. They get in fights over when they have to harvest things, who they hire, and other Farm Town related things (I don't play it, i'm not sure what else there is). It's just funny because i've never seen them more addicted to something.I play Farm Town on Facebook. And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears.
And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears.
Get over your hill and see what you find there,
With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.

I actually thought it was pretty funny, and I usually don't laugh at Penny Arcade.Today's Penny Arcade made me laugh. It's... it's not a good joke, dammit.
Then again, the last time I bought a new video game was about 2-3 years ago, and since then I've been mainly reading about them and thinking what it would be like playing them.
Who controls the British crown? Who keeps the metric system down?
We do! We do!
Who leaves Atlantis off the maps? Who keeps the Martians under wraps?
We do! We do!
Who holds back the electric car? Who makes Steve Gutenberg a star?
We do! We do!
Who robs cavefish of their sight? Who rigs every Oscar night?
We do, we do!

I only now realized why those chapters in Goblet of Fire seemed so alien to me when I first read them all those years ago:
It never occurred to me that people in other countries would camp.
Like, you live in England! Why would you camp? Also, where would you camp, because it was just impossible for my middle-school mind to imagine campgrounds that don't exist in the Pacific Northwest.
Obviously, Canada was exempt from this rule.

It's okay. They don't really camp very well in England. "Camping," except for the truly hardcore, involves toilets and RVs... like calling KOA "camping." I can't speak for anywhere else, but that's my experience in England.

I never pay for my mistakes. Really, I never do. I can be as dumb as I like, neglect my studies and waste every single afternoon on pointless crap, make hanging out with people a priority when I really am supposed to be putting every effort into studying, and follow TV shows religiously at the expense of studying for a test the next day. I can get drunk for stupid reasons and get minimal amounts of sleep on weekdays.
And somehow, despite all that, I will still get excellent grades, and my college transcript will still look amazing.
How the hell am I supposed to learn from my mistakes this way?

I have never before in my life had such vivid visions of killing a person and how satisfying that would be, not to mention the number of interesting ways one can come up with such a task...
Seeing Final Destination doesn't help.
And neither does the fact that this particular person, genuinely, deserves it.

I know that feeling. So, so much.Stepping on the scale this morning ruined my day.

I've gained 5 pounds in the last two months...but percentage-wise (5-6%), it's about the same as you, Adam.
I know that i'm still very thin but what scares me is thinking that this weight gain is never going to stop. I don't know why it started since I haven't changed anything. I'm trying very hard to start doing something healthy, like walking every day; rather than something unhealthy, like restricting my calories. Three years ago I weighed 20lbs more than this and I didn't feel fat but now I do at this weight. Damn him for this too.

I don't mind weighing myself for the time being; it's pictures and BMI tests that upset me. Everytime I pat myself on the back for weight loss, a picture of me is taken and I look like a cow. BMI says it's because I'm overweight for my height. I would need to lose at least 4 more lbs to be the very upper limit of normal. Then again, it also told me I was a freak for having the waist size I do in inches but being overweight and that the likely cause -besides measuring wrong- is that I'm "athletic," thus weighing more due to muscle, not fat. Any which way it is, I am pretty damn sensitive when it comes to weight issues, always have been, always will be.
Anyway, my confession: I seethe with something resembling jealousy every time a certain someone mentions how hot certain celebrities are. Immature, sure, and irrational to boot (because I'd like to think were I being properly appreciated in the looks department, I wouldn't give a s***), but it feels a bit like they're saying: This is the standard of beauty to which I am holding you against and you fail. Ah well, go personality, eh?

Could be worse - they could say you have a face for radio or something.
My confession: I don't restrict myself to celebrities. I feel a tinge of jealousy any time anybody mentions someone being hot. Even though I know there are some that would describe me in the same way, I am aware of my own shortcomings.

Cameron, I probably would, too, but that surprisingly hasn't come up; it's always been celebrities. Poor Kiera Knightly, I couldn't stand to see her for about a year -and I tend to like her movies, so that made me sad- because of a boy mentioning her right after being intimate with me. What.the.f***?
P.S. You need to post more. It's so good to see you.

I have my betting pool made with myself. Can't wait to see if I'm right.
I'm actually slightly sad that it isn't me, pre-nuptual and using precautions and all as I am. Biological clock is making me a bit insane, probably because I have SIX close friends/acquaintances who are pregnant or recently had a baby -- and for about half of them, it's the second one. My god, this is like my first year in Grand Forks when literally over half of my cohort was getting married.

I have some guesses, but really don't feel like making them.

Well, it's not me! So you can cross that off of your list.
Anyway, confession: I wrote fanfictions before I knew what they were, and, in fact, only realized this year that that's what they were, when looking back on my fifth grade self. They featured a self-insertion character who may or may not have been a Marty Stu (or whatever you call the male version of Mary Sue) that traveled between the various universes of whatever game, novel, or movie I wanted him to be in. I say may or may not have been because he never got fully developed as I never maintained enough interest to get more than a few pages into a story, but, sure enough, there was an Ender's Game one, and a Zelda one, and a Dragonriders of Pern one, and a few others.
Man, that feels good to get off of my chest.
