Pretty much acting like it's a normal day, and it really is to me. Since I don't give a f*** about school dances or social pressures.
This makes it sound like you care a lot. Just sayin'.
I'm going to be honest here. Pointing that out makes you sound a little like a bitch. Just saiyan.
True. And I was, basically. I was/am just tired of hearing about prom. I spent Friday night listening to two boys complain they didn't want to go to prom when they actually did, they just A. won't go without dates, B. are too scared to ask a girl and C. really enjoy the attention it gets them when they mention they aren't going. So yesterday, especially, it was a source of annoyance.

So yeah, I woke up today and was like "Zomg I just made the biggest mistake of my life, I didn't go to the prom! Nooooooo"

Haha just kidding
from the beginning it was about my future decision about Prom. I didn't expect some kind of Spanish Inquisition...
HAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!

I lold so hard. This is just so random, it's hilarious. Like one of those "lolwtf" things.
I see your bringing the lols in this thread.

....So then... why go into a thread titled Prom which has so far been about Prom if you were tired of hearing about Prom?

But no, the difference between me and those scrub-attentionwhore prom pariahs, or at least that's how you seem to describe them, is that I, actually, have a pair.
And, the fact that my desire to go to Prom is inversely proportional to the amount of people telling me I should go because "IT'S A ONCE IN A LIFE TIME EVENT MAN" "EVERYONE'S GOING" which pretty much equates to "THE MEDIA i.e. FAKE HIGHSCHOOL DRAMA SHOWS SAY PROM IS DA SHIZ SO I NEED TO GO"

I mean, that was pretty much the topic "You need to go to the prom CezeN ask Michelle" in one of my classes for three days in a row, to my annoyance. One of the girls was complaining about it in front of a teacher in another class and so the teacher was just like "Ask her to the prom Cez".
That pretty much killed any chance of me going to the prom, for me.

And, if I didn't make it clear before, I mean what I say.
I don't give a f*** about school dances. I don't think I've ever gone to a school hosted dance.
I also don't give a f*** about social pressures, and haven't since at least 8th grade. I mean, of course I do to a certain degree, but it's as negligible - as the difference between the actual area of an irregular shape and the area found by getting as close as possible using the summation of an infinitely small sized amount of rectangles.

I care enough to come up with good reasons for not going so that in the future when someone asks me why I didn't go, they won't leave feeling like I'm the lamest person in the world. But, I don't care enough to actually go to Prom.

lol okay, I know the usual reaction to a /thread is to do the opposite.

But I'm fairly certain we can adhere to the rules of the internet, here

Okay.

The rules are there are no rules.

*sends thread to the second bridge and back* The first one to make it back wins.

Thread-Kill points to whomever can name that movie.

Yeah, I'd just like to revive this to say...I still don't regret missing out on that once in a lifetime opportunity. ._.

I think I'm gonna revive this thread to say that - every year - till I finally regret it. :]

My friend and I are hostessing a Gone With The Wind Prom next month. It's a formal dinner, followed by dancing under the stars. The dinner menu is all southern and tasty, including (among lots of other things) fried pickles, deviled eggs, fried chicken, hot corn, corn bread & biscuits, pecan pie and Real Banana Pudding. Formal or Period Formal dress is required. I've ordered my dress and i can't wait for it to get here!! RSVPs are due today by noon and then we'll put all the final details together, like place cards.

It will be the event of the season! We're all very excited!

Did you end up getting one of the dresses you posted here? Who is the guest list--just couples in the area or are you inviting some of the younger crowd?

It sounds like a blast. Good luck!

I went with the green one that I posted here. The guest list is all couples that go to church with us. It looks like there will be around 15 couples. Should be fun!

Gone With the Wind Prom last night.

It was awesome. People really went all out with some of their outfits. Tablescapes looked beautiful, food was delicious and company was really great! I'll post pics as soon as I get them from another member of the Prom Committee.

Overall, it was VERY successful and I am VERY exhausted after all the set up, partying and clean up. I still have more clean up to do on monday, too. For now, it's time to relax and sleep.

P.S. Mormons don't need alcohol to get a little crazy....we just get crazy sober! :D

4 years until my prom... so much time... or not. I just had my grade 8 grad.

Helen: I can't believe you don't want to go to your own son's graduation.
Bob: It's not a graduation. He is moving from the 4th grade to the 5th grade.
Helen: It's a ceremony!
Bob: It's psychotic! They keep creating new ways to celebrate mediocrity ...
No, but seriously, woo, high school! People might exaggerate and reminisce that they are the best years of your life. They probably aren't. But I certainly loved it.
