Thumbs up - The Phenom II X6 1090T has been released.
Thumbs down - Decisions. 6 core processor or meeting long-distance friends face to face? If I go with the latter - even more decisions, who do I meet?
Thumbs up - Over a month to decide.

Thumbs up: Serious reduction in charges and fines for Count 2, which was the slightly worrisome one. That turned out probably as well as I could have hoped.

Thumbs down: Cost of court plus standard fine for Count 1.

Thumbs up: Over and done with.

Thumbs down: Spending the past two months trying to get DMVs from three states to talk to one another thus preventing me from being able to take action that would have let them drop Count 1.

Thumbs up: It didn't cost as much as I was afraid it would.

Thumbs down: It cost about as much as I realistically figured it would.

Thumbs up: Got to sleep in a little bit this morning.

Thumbs down: And then spent an hour in traffic court.

Thumbs up: I'm not the guy who was ahead of me, to whom the prosecutor was basically saying, "Seriously, kid, get an attorney before you do this."

Thumbs down: I am me. This morning, I would have preferred to have been the judge or a lawyer if I had to be someone in the court.

Thumbs up: I can move on with my day.

Thumbs down: Somehow, I don't really want to. Bleagh. I am not looking forward to today. Or the rest of this month, for that matter. Or next month. June could be fun.

Thumbs up: My wedding dress is in!

Thumbs down: Still haven't been moving on venue, etc. MUST MAKE AND STICK TO GAME PLAN.

down: definitely failing a calculus test mainly due to the fact i've not had math in 4 years and my function manipulation skills are dead
up: after chem tomorrow morning, i can spend at least an hour in drop in tutoring
down: if i do fail this class i will have blown apart all my plans for the next 15 months and ruined my shot at grad school in this discipline for now
up: i have tea & television & chick lit and no pressing homework needs.
down: she's so nearly like me (our academic interests almost overlap, etc) but she chose to near in that part of the state and i chose to go miles away
up: a friend came over and we made dinner and i didn't care about any of this stuff for 3 hours

thumbs up: an experimental paper of which i am a co-author has just been accepted for publication in a journal with a relatively high impact factor. While the paper is experimental, my contribution is some theoretical calculations of its optical absorption spectra.

thumbs down: the referee said that my contribution was "nice though it was probably not needed". Shucks.

Thumbs Up: I passed my CPR/First Aid class (100%, first time that's happened in a county-led training, so really not that brag-able ) and am now officially certified.

Thumbs down: Unrelated to the first but my weight has reached a current-high. I'm afraid this is turning into me taking baby-steps back up to full-out fat and while I could argue it's only a pound above my normal day-to-day range, that it's happening because of female issues, the fact is that my day-to-day range used to be from my now daily low, as the high, to 3 lbs below that as my low. Hell.

Thumbs up: The Losers was a fun movie and Jensen/Chris Evans was way cute in it.

Thumbs down: I only get one day off this weekend.

Excellent! The comic was rather good, and I'm excited to see how the movie turned out.

And grats for passing your test!

Thumbs Up: Babies at the baby ASL class this morning! I got to hold one and play with the others.

Thumbs Down: The coworker who is instructing is awful; slow, too much unnecessary information, monotone. I hope they come back next week, though I'd understand if they didn't.

Unrelated Thumbs Way Up: Daria shipped today!!

Thumbs up: I received an award for outstanding graduating student in my department
Thumbs down: there are sixteen graduating students in my department, and six of us got the award, so that's greater than a one-in-three chance of getting it, which kind of waters it down
Thumbs up: the award came with The Illusion of Life, which is pretty much the animator's bible, written by the last two surviving Nine Old Men of Disney before they died.

I think Illusion of Life was written when Ward Kimball (and maybe Milt Kahl) was still alive. Still Frank and Ollie are legends. I got that book for 90% off at a university bookstore sale. :) looks great on my coffee table. I really should read more than the first ten pages some time. :)

thumbs up: nothing to do. I may order thai food for dinner and watch a movie and go to bed early.
thumbs down: nothing to do.
thumbs up: football, beer pong, flip cup tomorrow.
thumbs up: our DP invited me to her house for a small potluck esque bbq party tomorrow
thumbs down: I didn't get my car fixed today.
thumbs up: I'm getting a haircut
thumbs down: I didn't get a haircut today.
thumbs up: my cold is almost gone
thumbs down: I still have a bit of the cold left.

Thumbs up: I found the SUV I want on craigslist for an incredible price.
Thumbs up: I can pay for it in cash.
Thumbs down: The seller is young and didn't know that it was courtesy to call people when you can't make the appointment you have set. We're setting up another appointment next week, but dang it, I wanted my car today!

thumbs down: no beer pong
thumbs up: going to a bday party tonight

Thumbs up: landed a job interview!
Thumbs down: the job is only 1-2 days a week, starting, with a pay of $15 per hour, meaning I would need a second part-time job to afford, you know, living.

I think that's technically possible to live off of alone, depending on the cost of living. My current 'essential' rent+food expenses are around $6k/year.

Thumbs down: As if the heat exhaustion yesterday morning wasn't enough, I got a flat today. This was after I woke up late because my mom used my phone to call hers (after she misplaced it) and somehow turned my alarm off.

Thumbs down: No one in my family -not my mom, dad, or brother- could help me out and give me a ride.

Thumbs up: My coworkers are awesome. I called to let my supervisor know I'd be late, I'd take an hour or so from my vacation to cover the time it'd take me to walk, and was instead offered a ride.

Thumbs down: Pweb is sleepy today. Always a bummer after a decently active day.

Thumbs up: Daria is at home, where she should be. St. Elmo's Fire didn't disappoint. Two books waiting for me. Martian Chronicles was just as amazing as I remembered. Excited about a movie coming out tomorrow (though we'll see if I can actually afford this). My media is good to me lately.

Thumbs up AND down: My phone is dead.
Thumbs up: It's only out of power; the phone itself is fine.
Thumbs down: The power chord is beyond-repair-frayed.
Thumbs down: Money...money...?
Thumbs up: If I have to spend a minimal amount of money I'm trying to save for various More Important things, I could get a brand new phone that is not metallic pink for about $3 more than a new chord would cost.
Thumbs down: It would involve signing a two year contract and I like that I wasn't forced into another contract when my last one ended last November.
Thumbs up: No one calls me anyway, so I have no problem taking my time thinking about this.
Thumbs down: Then again, having an alarm clock so I can get up on time for work is good, so taking my time is not actually an option.

You can probably get an aftermarket power cord on ebay for around $5 shipped. PM me the phone model if you want me to find you a link to a reputable seller/deal.

Thanks, but I think I've got it handled for now. I sent my phone to be charged with someone else (hopefully I'll get it back tonight...), so I should be good until payday, at which point I'll either have ordered the new phone or a replacement charger.

thumbs up, had a date tonight
thumbs down, was an internet date
thumbs up, though very tall (6ft!) she looked quite nice from her web profile
thumbs down, she only looks nice from the waist up, her ass was wider than my shoulders
thumbs down, she didn't really bother doing anything with herself for the date. flipflops, and hair pulled back with a headband? and her hair doesn't look good at all pulled back, pulls back her face too.
thumbs down, she had bad body language all night.
thumbs up, for a first time internet date, it's sort of a classic, not terrible, but bad enough to provide self-deprecating stories for years.
thumbs up, got another date with a different girl for next saturday and we've spent the last week and a half messaging each other about how great old movies and terry pratchett are. :)

Thumbs up -- saw little brother graduate.
Thumbs up -- started painting again in the first time in forever.

Thumbs down -- s***** of paperwork at my paying job not completed by the end of the month, and people are taking notice. Not to mention psych reports.

Thumbs down: My high on life feeling is gone, probably because it's hard to stay happy when you go from an environment in which you are busy and useful and surrounded by people who, strangely, like you to an environment in which the hours pass slowly and you're alone.

Thumbs up: It'll come back Monday. Since the world operates on M-F schedule, unlike me, I can make my phone call. I'll also be hanging out with a friend if she doesn't bail on me.

Thumbs down: After two years of primarily dealing with one person and learning and adjusting to their style, being that way with newer friends is bound to backfire. I am trying to fix something I'm not sure was ever broken and feel like I'm making more of a mess in the attempt to get back to good.

Thumbs up: If I keep it up and he realizes I really am that crazy and not worth it, we just may avoid each other long enough to eventually get back to good with less drama.

Thumbs down: Awful sleep, awful dreams, and general feeling of anxiety leading to awful choices/decisions/things being said to pretty much everyone.

Thumbs up: My mom might bring me a doughnut and I'm finishing up the decathlon stuff. Best way to make 10 weeks fly is to assign yourself deadlines, by the way.

Thumbs down: I'm once again actively wishing I had a "Go back in time and do things differently" button. Like the Staples "Easy" button, but for time-travel. I screw so many things up, it's ceased to be amusing.

Thumbs Up: I thought I was only eligible for government-subsidized loans for my school, but they just sent me a letter awarding me approximately $3000. which is awesome!

Thumbs Down: My phone is dead.

Thumbs Up: My father is amazingly nice and got me an iPhone.

Thumbs Up: Starting my internship on Friday!

Thumbs Down: Still have to go through visiting family, which will be nice, but it's going to be slow.

Thumbs Down: Not with Tom anymore..

Thumbs Down: Still two weeks until AP scores come out.

Thumbs Up: Pretty sure I did well on AP tests!

Thumbs Up: I absolutely love Raleigh and the NCSU campus.

Thumbs up: Took the ACT yesterday.

Thumbs down: 5 PM yesterday - got a headache that lasted until noon today.

Thumbs down: ACT scores won't come out for me until after the World Cup.

Thumbs up: Canada didn't qualify for the World Cup.

Thumbs up: USA got a draw vs. England.

Thumbs up: I'm fairly sure I will get a 36 on the ACT math section.

Thumbs down: If I score a 35 on the math portion, I'm going to be pissed off because I know I am capable of a 36. If it's even lower, then I'm going to be angry at myself for making dumb mistakes.

Thumbs up: I found a matching ballpoint pen to my mechanical pencil.

Thumbs up: I got a summer job.

Thumbs down: Not going to have enough money for a GPU upgrade.

Thumbs up: Apple is going to release the iPhone 4, finally bringing multitasking.

Thumbs down: AT&T no longer offers unlimited data plans. Maximum offered is 2 GB/month. Screw you AT&T!

Thumbs down: No iPhone for me because AT&T is incompetent.

Thumbs up: The Nexus One has 512 MB of RAM, and it can be bought for $530 unlocked.

Thumbs down: Going to have to find a job after the summer.

Thumbs down: Took a 109 question chemistry final.

Thumbs up: Scored among the highest on the chemistry final.

Thumbs up: Aced my history project and history final.

Thumbs down: Due to weighted grades, two badly done maps in March made my grade in history become a B+, as daily work was 40% of my grade. AGH!

Thumbs up: Sometimes you have to learn the hard way.

Thumbs down: Emotional stability remains at a low level.

Thumbs up: Emotional instability led to spontaneous mental order flourishing.

Thumbs up: No school for three months.

Thumbs down: Reading logs next school year for English.

Thumbs up: AP Calculus BC should be a piece of cake.

Thumbs up: Rediscovered great songs from the late 1990s.

They are their own doom. They had, what, 3? 4? open nets or otherwise given goals that they blew?

There is time for them to make something happen but man, stupid England/Slovenia aren't making life any easier.
