The controls are different, the most obvious being that there's no way to switch between beams - new beams are upgrades rather than options. Though the new controls fix the problem you were having with the bosses - because you have to aim manually, there is more skill involved than just 'lock on and spam the A button'.

Personally, I loved 3 - better than 1, I think, and 2 is a bit odd.
Guh, I always forget about the "new beams are upgrades" thing. That really bugged me about three, a lot. I like the array of weapons. Plus, I think that Prime Trilogy showed how beam control could have been handled excellently, using the Wiimote.

Anyway, zero, in my opinion it's all downhill from Prime. Echoes has some problems where backtracking takes forever, although it is definitely still a really, really good game. Corruption takes advantage of slightly better hardware, but there's a significantly less exploration than there is the previous two games, mostly due to valid complaints made about the previous game.

I generally rank them 1 -> 3 -> 2, but they're still all extremely good games. I've been considering replaying them again recently.

That sounds okay to me, really; that's what Super was like. One thing that really bugged me about Prime is how unbearably slow it was to switch beams.

Oh man, now, backtracking is fine (one of the staples of metroidvanias), but Prime... I don't understand how they added things whose sole purpose seems to make exploring and backtracking more annoying. Like, those enemies that spawn and then just... sit there, and explode when you hit them, and are placed in very small corridors. What the hell? All it does is force you to either tank some damage, or sit there and shoot a bunch of stationary targets. Every time you go through that corridor.

Ayup. It makes the game very annoying at certain points, because you have two entire worlds to explore, one of the worlds makes you take damage just by being outside designated zones, and you have a few somewhat vague clues that hint at where you need to go. It can get quite aggravating.

Those enemies become much easier to deal with in 2 and 3 when you can just blast through them with the screw attack without taking any damage.

It took a bit of searching, but I found a fan-made mod of C&C Gold that works on 64 bit Windows 7.
And now I've got Tiberian Sun installed and more or less playable as well. The pause menus are a bit glitchy, but the game itself plays fine. I'll probably see if I can get Red Alert and RA2 to work as well, but I think I'm going to play through TS first.

I was pretty sure I'd run both Tiberian Sun and RA2 since upgrading to Win7 Pro 64 bit without any difficulty at all, but I may be mistaken. I haven't run them since the last reinstall I did when I reformatted and repartitioned my main drive.

I used fan-made installer packs for both C&C and TS since the originals were 16 bit and thus won't run on 64 bit. I'm sure there's similar for the RA's floating around on the C&C communities.

B. I wanted to test out embedding YouTube videos.

Minecraft's latest update has completely revitalized my server, partly because I also talked everyone into starting a completely new map.

Of course, this is also getting me to play Minecraft again. And I already have so many other games to play...

I'm quite happy some ancient traveler came through building mines that we can discover and use, but I must say, he really sucked at mining.

Meh, the 1.8 update wasn't as exciting as hoped. Maybe the NPCs in 1.9 will do it for me.

Though this may have more to do with the fact I spent about 2 days solid working on a scale model of Serenity for a competition, and haven't played much since.

Battlefield 3 Beta!

I'm quite enjoying it. It's so damn pretty. Excluding the character models, which are butt ugly...

I've started a Platoon with a few friends. Pwebbers are welcome to join, if for no other reason than to be closer to our terribly epic Tyr-tank-osaurus Rex emblem:

Update: I am truly awful at Team Fortress 2.
The only classes I'm any good at are the Sniper touting a Huntsman and the Engineer, and even with them I'm pretty awful. I still find a great deal of enjoyment playing TF2, regardless.

Psychonauts is only $10 on Steam and now runs on Macs! I've been wanting to play it again for years but have been unable to with my Mac and my Xbox 360 that refuses to play Xbox Originals.

This game is worth $10. If you don't believe me, there's a demo.

Whew. Picked up Arkham City last week on Tuesday. Turned out Toys-R-Us still exists, and they had an awesome "three-for-two" deal, so I split the price between two other friends, got it for $40. Not bad. Plus it came with an awesome action figure! Classic (Adam West-style) outfit, too, which I somehow appreciate more.

Anyway, Arkham City was amazing. Just not beat it. Watching the ending credits. And it was awesome. It's like, if you take everything that Arkham Asylum had and added more. Seriously. More gadgets, even more cameos and villains, more more more more more Mark Hamill as Joker. Which is sad, because it's his last performance as such, too. I felt depressed seeing him say something about how much he's enjoyed the role on Twitter, and he's seriously in the top two Jokers.

Haven't 100%-ed it yet, although I did an awful lot. I'm anxious to see what, exactly, the New Game Plus entails. If it carries over ALL of my progress, just upping the difficulty, I guess I'm starting a new game tonight.

Anyway anyway, super-duper awesome, A++++ WOULD PLAY AGAIN.

Played Brawl Minus for the first time; man I'm behind the times.

The game is ridiculously awesome. Almost every character has been upgraded in certain ways.

It's a totally different game, and the fact that I lost to my friend(though it was my first time playing) who I consistently demolished in regular Brawl, means this is basically new frontier for me to conquer. Luigi's up B sweetspots everytime it touches? Sheik turns invisible everytime she dodges? Zelda has like super ranged on all her attacks? My mind exploded.

Got it on launch day, taking advantage of Best Buy's pre-order deal which includes a code to unlock Robin to use in challenge maps. It'll probably be while before I beat it though, since I don't have a lot of free time to play. As awesome as Mark Hamil is as the Joker, Kevin Conroy is just as great as Batman. He is THE voice of Batman. I hear him in my head when I read the comics. I'm also very disappointed whenever an animated Batman project comes out that doesn't use him, like the recent "Year One" film which was otherwise quite good.

So looking forward to this game. Not because of Phoenix Wright, just because I like Capcom fighting games in general. I'm slightly addicted to MvC3.

Wrong. Platform? you're saying that PC is the wrong platform for an FPS? so you're one of THOSE people, eh?

Yeah, I've put some time into the game already. Turns out I've been waiting over a year for a decent FPS to hold my interest.
