I'm a little concerned about the old issue of in-jokes and will admit to feeling a little left out when I'm at work and can't be around but I think, overall, it's a net positive to have this.

With that said, I've lost two nights in a row to that chat, so all the cool people will need to stay out on a regular basis or there's a good chance I'll never do anything else again, for as long as I live.

Also - there is the fun feature of being able to choose whatever name you want (you can tell if someone has by an asterick beside their name), but I fear that there could be issues with people imitating others.
So, without any strong way of enforcing it, I'd like to ask that people please don't use anyone else's username as their nickname in chat. Use your real name, use a funny name (like our HappyPreggo does), but not someone else's username.

Funny, I was going to suggest that nobody use chat for at least a week while I get some other stuff done. I don't want to feel like I'm missing out, but I really can't be in the chat room all night every night.

The only thing that makes me sad is that I come in the morning now and there is a handful of posts instead of tons because everyone is chatting instead of posting! Not to mention the in jokes and all that but that can't be helped.

I think you raise valid concerns but, to be fair, I think the drop off in posts is more to do with shiny wearing off and not entirely the chat. The handful of posts is not that far off from what I'd wake up to for stretches at a time on 3.0 and then everyone was trying to remind me it is a cyclical thing.

To also be fair, the chat itself has experienced a rather sharp decline in active users (I think, anyway) since it was first installed.

I think everything will balance out with all that.
