Body,

Less than 12 hours now. And this is the last of it. Let's do it right.

1. Please kick these mild cold symptoms before morning. You've battled them for 2 weeks now and I'm oil bombing you, so please go away so I don't have to wear a mask with my baby around!

2. Let's do this breast feeding thing. You get skin to skin right away, so let's kick in production right away.

3. Let's not be too stressed and anxious in the hospital. It's not good for you, the baby, or your milk.

4. Let's get some sleep tonight? You won't get any for awhile, so make the most of tonight!

Ready....set....

Now is really, really not the time to fall ill. I can't afford to feel like this when I need to be packing and moving house...

Dear left shoulder,
Tuesday is going to hurt, a lot. But I swear they tell me its for your won good. All the bone drilling, tendon cutting, bone scraping, and multiple reattachments of multiple connective tissue or supposed to make it all better. And trust me we really want to be better after 2 and a half years (three by the time we finish with PT).
Better sounds good right?
We can do fun things like run, wrestle, hike, be a happy active person in general, do that one fun sex position, heck even sleep without drugging ourselves every night, and work its been a really long time since we worked. Doesn't that sound nice? And maybe we won't sound like a bowl of rice crispies every time you move, i'm totally over the snap crackle pop and associated pain.
So come on shoulder, 3rd surgeries the charm, right? Please!

Dear rest of my body, sorry in advance for the bugs crawling all over me pain killer skin, brain deadness, and vomiting. but I swear this is for the best.

Love,
Teresa

Stop being sick right now! This was your first two day weekend in a while and you spent 90% of it in bed. You can't miss work tomorrow.

Dear body,

Please kick this cold NOW. It's no fun to spend your two weeks of time off of work being sick with a cold. And a week of cold is plenty. So, get over it already.

Dear Body,

After you've puked out all the contents of our stomach, there's no need to keep on trying to puke. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. YOU CAN STOP NOW.

Dear Nose,

I am so sorry I didn't have proper tissues on me and resorted to using napkins. I am also sorry you were most exposed to the cold that made you run so much in the first place. I hope you accept the facial lotion I put on you as a peace offering.

Love,
Me

Dear Head,

No. Stop hurting. I'm pretty sure you're trying to tell me I'm getting sick, what with the stress + bitter cold this week but I kind of refuse. It's been 37 months since I was last properly sick and I refuse to break that record now. Feel better.

Also love,
Me

Dear shoulder,

You are not cooperating. After weeks of physical therapy, you are hurting as bad as ever. Tonight I even took some codeine because the pain got so bad (after zumba) and it didn't even help. I think I'm going to give in and get a cortisone shot at the next dr appt. Boo!

Dear Nose,

you've been congested all semester. I swear, I got winded walking up stairs and became a mouthbreather 99% of the time.
"Wait, are you still sick?" "Weren't you sick last time I saw you" "what's wrong with you?"
My friends are calling you out. Do your job immune system.

My mom just told me you're probably a sinus infection. I've never had one before, way to let me down body.
Sincerely,
CezeN

Dear Back,

you've been a pain in the neck long enough; I'm sick of bending over backwards to avoid bending over, and taking pain pill to pander to your bellyaches. just get over it, and get back to working properly!

Dear body,
Good job today :)

You started work hardening and while it is truly going to suck... it will be good for us. hopefully we will get better

AND

way to run tonight, I was planning on starting week one of the couch to 5k and you just went for it and ran the whole 5k with 30 second sprints in the odd minute. way to show me you still work...

Lastly...

I'm sorry you are going to be so sore tomorrow

Hey body,

We're removing your gallbladder tomorrow morning. Sounds harsh, but those attacks were horrible and scared Brian so bad. Besides, it's going to be a robotic surgery, so that's pretty cool. And it's only one incision instead of the normal 4. Please be kind and recover quickly? We have to be good enough for the Celtic Woman concert on Sunday. I would like it if I could attend the baptisms taking place on Saturday morning, but I understand if you need to rest instead. Anyways, let's get this done and not have any more problems, ok?

Thanks!

Robotic surgery--that's way cool! And fewer incisions in definitely a plus.

Steph's Body,
Recover fast!

dear voice,

thank you for working well last night. It was my last concert with this group and I appreciate that you followed through and didn't embarrass me. Keep up the good work, next week we go into overdrive.

Dear Body,

I'm glad we've gotten to the point that I only need to give you 2 days a week of bodyweight exercises to maintain muscle tone. Thanks.
Lower back, strengthen for better posture. Hips, align more correctly.

Adonis belt, appear. Bodyfat, go down. Allergies, you randomly appear 20 years into my life. Was that really necessary? Antibiotics running through my veins, have barely been congested. I think you're doing your job right. Brain, neuroplasticity and all that jazz.

Sincerely,
CezeN

Dear body,

I have to say, as much as I wish you were in a little better shape, you're not bad, and it's my fault I guess. I guess I would just prefer that you make my eyes a little less sensitive, sure it's a great party trick, someone talking about water eyes and you well all up...even as I'm typing this...but it gets old. But again, I can't complain too much, you've put up with a lot of my abuse. I'm happy to say that through all my daredevil antics and stupid "jump before I think" ideas, you've never broken too badly and you've always healed up pretty quick. Tonight I'll have a strong drink to you...That's good for you right...?

Thank you

Oh and stop letting the cat skratch you, that would be nice

Arms,

I'm sorry I abused you yesterday by taking you downtown to push, pull/drag, and occasionally lift a bike box all on your own. That bruise will heal and you'll comfortably rise above my head again, soon. In the meantime, try to take it easy but be proud of what you accomplished.

Love,
Me
