And the new forum does spell it out, which is why it's great!
That and the fact that month, day, year really does make the most sense. "The eigth of October" wastes time. "October eighth" is a much more economical use of language.

Not when you realise that the most important piece of information when people are asking for the date is the day of the month (since most people usually know what month it is already). Thus you're getting the necessary information out quicker and allowing everyone else to start reacting faster, precious split seconds faster.
